Graveling Driveway

I have started to gravel my driveway. It started raining really hard. I couldn't see out of the window. We got about 2" of rain in 30 minutes. I went out and checked what I had graveled and my ditch I done its job. I just need to work on the sloped part and put a crown on the top so the water slopes into the ditch. I am going to put a ditch on the opposite side and then fill with Surge. I can't get my surge until next Thursday. I have time to get the ditches and graveling done. I will take pictures and let you know how it turns out.

Your getting some good info, for instance.. the common 2" crown for pavement to shed water to the sides.. however, you have a material incompatibility... A gravel roadway is not going to be very efficient with a crown... it is a completely porous covering anyway... water is going to flow through it.. and only when the total water volme moving across the road is above the gravel, will it shed to the side.. and if you have that much water.. your gravel is going to migrate pretty good.

Just go with it nice and flat.. traffic is already going to produce a middle hump for you to rake out periodically..

the only effective way of controlling water erosion is combination of water breaks (series of small humps directing and slowing water) and terracing to reduce water speed down the drive (up to 15% slope) after theres about nothing to do except get harder material.
