2 questions, if I have a large garden and a good tiller on a tractor, would it be best to also be able to plow the garden each spring or is tilling enough?
Next, what kind of grass seed is "field grass" I'll be planting 2 acres in SC and need something cheap, or at least that costs less per pound than steak. thanks, bw

Some kinda rye grass. Lots of great info on the web. Buy in 25lb-50lb bags and it's lots cheaper.

If a replier has a plow, he will say to plow. If the replier has only a tiller, he will tell you to only till. Yes that is right, a matter of opinon.

I have both a plow and a tiller and will never plow my garden. I have 6 - 12 inches of topsoil, and then 2 - 3 feet of nasty clay subsoil. If I till I keep the good stuff on top. If I plow I bring up some nasty clay and lose some nice topsoil. If you have enough topsoil depth you should plow, (even if it's only every other year).
