Here's why I bought an EA Grapple with 42" opening.

And a "beauty shot".

Yeah. My little 48" also has a 42" opening and I find it very useful. I could probably live with 37" but no question 42" is better. Only downside is the heavy duty version adds an extra ?couple hundred pounds of weight. Not a concern if you have a very powerful loader but it would put a serious cramp in the lifting capacity of a less than 2000 lb lift loader.

I still don't understand why EA cannot build their mid weight grapple with a 42" opening.

How do you like the 60" single? I'm betting you have no complaints.

IT, At the risk of getting schooled, mine is the 73" wide EA Wicked Grapple for Utility tractors. I bought it because of the 42" opening and use it for picking up brush and limbs.

I also have an 84" HD Blue Diamond, with 34" opening, for the big stuff. Dead trees, etc. It is a dual lid which better suits my uses.

It's good to have a grapple but, great to have two grapples.

I was mowing in our horse pasture, this afternoon, and came upon a fallen dead tree. Choice was to go get the big tractor and HD grapple or try it with the 50 HP tractor. The LS picked it up with no problem. Loader is rated to 2500 lbs. at pins.

Are both grapples wide open in the face to face picture? Also, is your NH made by LS? LS sure seems to make nice "size" tractors (well proportioned).

Relocated several logs that I'd used around the perimeter of my drive (wife wanted to use area to plant stuff in).

I cut some brush last week, so I put the grapple on yesterday to move it. Glad I was wearing shorts so I could quickly feel a hydraulic leak spray on my leg while test opening the jaws after connecting the hoses. Turns out one of the fittings on my 3rd function had vibrated loose...I guess from hours of recent tilling and bush hogging since I last used the grapple. Took 10 seconds to retighten but about an hour cleaning up fluid from all over.

I learned a lesson...I use to check for leaks each time I used the tractor for the first 10 or so times after I installed it back in April, but no leaks...then stopped checking...and it only leaked when operating the jaw, not when operating the loader, so didn't notice until yesterday. So now will check the 3rd function connections BEFORE each time I use the grapple, and random other times.
