I pushed my tractor hard today. LOTS of mowing, and taking side trips to get rid of stumps and logs that I'd been wanting to deal with for quite some time (but until I got the NX and the grapple, really couldn't- stumps were dug out with an excavator and I only had time to dig, none to relocate).

This one was really heavy. When I got to where I was going to dump it I almost had the tractor topple! (ground was really soft and I started to sink in a bit- managed to release the hydraulics and let the stump go just in time)

This one was lighter (dried out), but it's still a bit heavy; and, it looks cool!

I don't think that I would have been able to move this log, let alone lift it, with my B7800!

Trim those stumps up and pressure wash them. Somebody will want to make coffee tables out of them. Good way to make a few bucks.

Careful loading stuff up! I can't tell you how much stuff I'd moved with my B7800, using all sorts of tricks: I'd haul stuff using a old truck hood as a skid; and, as you showed in your pictures, strapping stuff to the bucket! I'd put over 1,000 hrs on the B7800, plenty of time to do some "interesting" things!:D

Here's a picture from today's grappling adventures (pretty sure that this trunk was right around 2k lbs; I moved an even bigger tree trunk, but the tractor really struggled; one side of the trunk (a "Y") was kind of sliding on the ground- since I can't say that it was truly dead-lifted I can't claim it as a grapple trophy!):

Sadly I don't have a grapple either and the reason I started a thread called How to grapple without a grapple. I know I have chained stumps way off center and moved heavier than I should with my BX. Honestly I haven't been as careful as I am usually with my tools. I guess I just expect my BX to handle anything somehow if I try hard enough! :confused2:

That's way too much work. I'd gladly load them up to anyone that would take them unwashed. The only use I have found is they rot into good dirt but that takes 20 years. There was a place that took them free and any other wood waste and ground them for mulch, but that was a multi million dollar outfit.

I let them dry out and push them to my burn pile. They would burn sooner but I don't have enough lift!

I have all sorts of places to dump stuff like this. Of course, the trunks are cut for firewood (unless they're really old, soaked and rotting).

That trunk in the last picture was something that I pulled from the brush with a 19k lb excavator. I honestly didn't expect the NX to lift it, but to my surprise... It really is a huge piece of wood.

My experience is it takes a bunch of fires to get a big stump to burn and if there's very many on the pile you can't get it to burn at all. On my recent land clearing I burnt all the stumps smaller than about 12" and hauled off the rest.

I quit burning, just too much work. Either I bury them (when I rent an excavator to take out key stumps I'll just dig a hole where they were and drop them back down) or I dump them elsewhere (now that I have a tractor that has more grunt, and a grapple!).
