hey guys, maybe yall can send me in the right direction. i have a 2007 L3400 w/ a woods 1009 loader. i want to get a grapple for my bucket. i think all i need is a light weight grapple. i believe my loader can only lift about 1600 lbs. what company should i look to and what should i expect to pay for one. also will i need another valve or anything to hook this up thanks

Most of the people on here are going to recommend Markham welding light duty grapple. Including me. If you have a Skid steer style mount you're good to go.

I have an ATI grapple on an L3010 and am very happy with it.
I did weld some teeth on it to make it easier to pick up logs.
you will probably need a valve kit. I ran hoses from the rear couplings
and put some inline quick diconnects up near the grapple. If
I want to do some serious digging with the bucket the grapple comes
off with 4 bolts on each side of the bucket. But it says on most of the
time. I think I paid around 800 installed.

The mount is a method to quickly connect and disconnect from implements such as buckets, grapples or other loader mounting implements. You basically hook a lip on the top of your loader mount on the mating part of the implement. There are then two handles on the bottom of the loader mount that allow you to expand two fingers into the bottom of the mating holes on the implement to latch the implement on the loader.

Hard to describe but maybe can help you understand enough to know if you have the attachment. You probably ask the person/dealer you bought the tractor from. Even if you don't have a quick attach the vendor would probably have a grapple mount that would fit your tractor. Markham Welding could probably take your specs and make a mount for a grapple that would fit your tractor.

Here is the implement side of things. In this case a bucket. The bucket was laying on its face, so the brass pin in the previous photo slide into the holes at the bottom. (Part closest to you)
The wedge (LOL) slides into the lip at the top. (Part farthest away)

These grapples are similar to the ATI style, and can be found at several retailers. Just noticed that Star equipment in Hammond is a retailer for these.

i want to get a grapple for my bucket.

Are you looking to add a grapple arm to your existing bucket or do you want to switch out the bucket for a separate grapple? Countrybumpkin shows a photo of what you need to add a grapple to an existing bucket and that is the least expensive way to go. A separate grapple (look at the photo in my avatar) requires that you either have a skid steer adapter (not standard on Kubota L3400) or that you get a specially made grapple to fit the Kubota pin mounts.

If you need just occasional use of the grapple then adding a grapple arm to your bucket is easily the best way to go. Costs vary depending on whether you buy a kit from ATI or Add A Grapple (I think these are about 600-700 bucks now) or you can get something less expensive off eBay and do the welding/bolting yourself.

A basic separate grapple like the Markham 48 inch will cost about $900 delivered.

You'll need a set of hydraulic controls too which I don't believe come standard with an L3400. That will cost you somewhere between $400 for rear remotes you install to about $800-1000 for a diverter valve or third function valve installed by a dealer.

If you can give us further details on what you are trying to do with a grapple and what your budget is we can try to steer you in the right direction.

In your pics you show the skid steer quick attach which will make shopping much easier. That means you just need one that will fit any skid steer but be aware of weight some designed for skid steers weigh 700-800 Lbs you want something like the markham which is 300-400 Lbs.
