Has anyone built a brush grapple with the intention of fitting their Piranha tooth bar on it? Not the moveable jaw but the bottom. I'm going to try it. I have lots or briar and small brush to clear and I think it will work good. The Piranha bar works well for this with it on the bucket but without the grapple ability it just makes a mess. I don't think just adding a grapple to my bucket would help much as it's a full bucket and not the skid steer type of bucket. I don't think I need any kind of root rake or digging with this. The bar on the bucket as is takes down brush 1-1/2 diameter easily.

My tractor is a ZETOR 4321 59hp

I intend to build something similar to this but along the front of the bottom tines will be a plate that the Piranha bar mounts on.

I was just wondering if anyone had done something similar.

All comments positive or negative are welcome.

The MTL design is shaped similar to the Piranah. Just need to take a grinder or plasma cutter and sharpen the teeth.

Thank you. I had not seen that grapple. That is the design I had in mind. The one I am building will have a beveled plate on the front for the piranha to mount on.

That's really not the right type of grapple for brush. You need a clamshell type grapple for that. But, I understand trying to make what you have work. I use my landpride sgc 1072 effectively for brush, but it wouldn't move a bunch of firewood like your grapple could.

I have had my eye on this grapple/clam bucket for a while and did not even think about putting my Piranha bar on it now I am even more interested in it thanks to reading this thread, thanks.

I think it would work very good for thick small brush. If you go with that let us know how it works out.

In March I will get more serious about this unit, it is made in Mn and within a hour and a half drive from my home and only 800.00 so more then likely I will drive there if I decide it is the way I want to go but looking at it having a Piranha bar on it I can see a lot of promise with it from removing thicket to hauling wood, gravel and dirt to a certain limit. I just need to see what valve system I want to go with on my 1705.

I have a Land Pride SGC1560 grapple on my Kubota M6040. I open the grapple, wide open, rotate the grapple down, use the top lid to grub out brush. Works just fine.
