I don't have a grille guard on my T2320 but there are holes to bolt one to it. I drilled two of the holes, one on each side, to fit a clevis like this.

1 1/4 x 3 3/4 Straight Tractor Clevis

The frame on my XR3037HC does have holes pre-drilled that I could have bolted the D-rings to. However, where the D-ring would have bolted on the right side the exhaust pipe is right in the way for it to swing up. I didn't want to cut or bend the pipe which is why I mounted them on the brush bar.

I would stick to a closed hook, D-ring, or chain around a solid portion of the equipment. Anything that has an open end to it such as a plain "hook" may allow the chain to come loose under slack. Such as a sudden back and forth movement or failure of another portion of the tie down system. Just my 2 cents.
