GR2120 Would NOT buy again!

Curious if your GR2120 is the GR2120-2 or the earlier version now referred to as the GR2120-1? Not sure exactly what was "improved" with the -2...I believe they "fixed" the glide steer issues that were not uncommon. The GR sounds like an interesting product but seems to have a trail of issues...wonder is the -2 is proving to be "improved" or not. I do not think they sell many...my dealer basically does not stock it and pretty much ignores it.

At $9K to $10K it falls into the JD X7xx series which seems to both have more features and capabilities and also seems to have a very solid quality reputation. Also not nearly the financing program offered on the JD X7xx GTs. Would like to "buy" Kubota as dealer is a friend but not sure they have an alternative to the X7xx series or for that matter the higher portion of the X5xx series. TMR

Just wanted to update everyone on the GR2120. Wow, what an adventure this tractor has been. First, the parking brake gets chewed up, next is catastophic engine failure that they attributed to a piece of metal cracking off in the piston chamber. End result of that has been a full replacement of the engine. This was under warranty, but it took over 3 mos to get my tractor back and a million phone calls on my part to both the dealer and corporate support in Texas. My tractor has about 110 hours on it now and I can feel the parking brake beginning to go again. I really think that Kubota is getting the steel for their machines from some 3-d printer or something! Absolutely junky. I know folks who have had this tractor for 10 years with no issues, but not the new ones. Steer very clear.

Update. As of Sept, 2017, the tractor seems to be working fine. It's just that it's been somewhat of a nightmare. We'll see how it goes from here. Thanks for everyone's input.

Good. I'll add that the mulch kit works very well on Fall leaves.Consists of 3 mulch blades and a baffle that is easy to install.

My GR2120 has been trouble free since June 2013. The snowblower is a beast! Philip.

Mine is the 2120-2 with the 54” deck and front mount blower. The price was really good, and then they offered me an additional $1,500 off. So I was sold.

A couple mods you may want to consider....Light for snow blower. Check the exhaust pipe outlet to snow blower frame, mine was really close, so I took and inch or so off the pipe. Racor fuel filter with water separator and drain. I also increased idle speed from 1300 rpm to 1800 rpm. Philip.

Yeah. I think the light on the blower is a good idea. I have a water separator/filter on my storage tank, so every time I pump the diesel it gets filtered in real-time. I only buy enough diesel to last me about 2 months at a time, so I think I’m pretty well covered for water in the fuel.

How did you connect your light in?

For the light I am running a low wattage high output LED, so I spliced into the headlight wiring, added 1/4" spade disconnect so I can remove, and ran wire thru grill. See if you can get idea from pics here.

For snow blower, make sure you have spare shear bolts (and nuts). Auger shaft (#9 in manual) is special bolt with grooves, Kubota p/n 70060-01338. For the fan (#22 in manual) I use a 1/4"-20x1" grade 5 (manual call out 3/4").

One other thing, this has Reverse Mower Awareness switch, when mower is engaged, you have to push button to go in reverse, PITA. They way I did it: Remove RMA switch from dashboard. Remove electrical connector from back of switch. Re-install switch in dashboard. See pic. Cut and splice together the two light blue wires going back into the wiring harness. Leave the two cut light blue wires from the connector as they are in the picture. Do nothing with the red/black wires. DO NOT put the electrical connector back on switch. Just put the connector up behind the dash with the rest of the wiring harness and tie wrap back.

Philip
