you musta hit it lucky.I remember a period in the early 70s or latter 60s a few weeks it stayed well below zero for weeks with lows around minus 40s at night.Look up Embarras,Mn. on the web just for kicksDave

It's good to hear that some are beating the heat. :)

It's 92 degrees here (Upstate SC) with a forecast low of 67 degrees for tonight. I'm looking forward to some long-sleeve weather and being able to work outside all day without stopping every few minutes to re-hydrate.

After having a couple of heat waves this summer that broke a number of temperature records in BC we are now in a cool and getting wet period. Got the fire going in the woodstove in the shop first time this morning and the third time for the woodstove in the house. It has been as cool as 44 F first thing in the morning.

Well, I just came back inside about ten minutes ago from splitting a few sticks of firewood. I'd like to say that your post helped me cool off, but I'm still dripping sweat. (currently 80-85 degrees here)

Been a cool summer here in the PNW we topped out at 80 for a day or two. But four days of cool rain in the forecast. Would light the fire but spent so much time gathering wood seems a shame to burn it. :-D

I know what you mean about burning the wood ya work so hard to cut and split stack etc,but I guess thats why we did it so we could burn it to stay warm.My little gas[lp] stove does a nice job of taking the chill out with the touch of a button. I,ve got the Lopi Sturbridge, so it looks nice and does a nice job for me.Think they,re made in your neck of the woods. I could have gotten a much cheaper stove but I buy American when I can, gettin harder to do!:(Dave

It was 91F today here in my part of SC.

Wow, hard to imagine,I only have the house at 72 with the fire!I think we hit 90s in July but we,re not used to heat so we suffer.I just called my weather station info in to the TV station and was told a few areas near here were in the mid 20s last night. We,ve got a heat wave coming, maybe up to 60.:DDave

Looked at your list of implements....is the island that big for all that stuff?

Might have a frost tonite. Been burning wood all yr round. Even in the 90 degree heat.

LOL possibly. Remember this rock is about the size of Connecticut, but still growing - well not my piece. I'd be in a hurt if I had to depend on firewood from my property.
