When you move the cursor around in Google Earth, the lower left give you latitude & longitude as well as altitude. Somehow, I disabled the altitude function. Does anyone know how to get it back?? I've tried a bunch of stuff, w/o luck.

Thanks,

Jack

Do you mean "eye altitude" which is on the far right and tells you how high in the sky your view is from or do you mean "elevation" which is the elevation of the land at the point the mouse pointer sits?

Most likely fix: Go to the Layers panel in the sidebar and make sure Terrain is checked. You may have to quit and restart Google Earth after that.

Some other things to try:

I didn't think you could turn these on or off but you can change elevation from english to metric on Tools Menu, Options, 3D View tab, Show elevation. Perhaps changing that and then changing it back and applying settings each time will bring it back.

The whole status bar on the bottom can be turned on or off from the View Menu. Have you tried disabling and re-enabling that to see if it fixes it?

Thanks - - just as I don't know what magic I worked to turn it off, I don't know how I turned it back on. I tried a bunch of stuff, much of it superstitious I'm sure. Whatever, it is working again. Thanks.

For future reference... (if it happens again)

Try this......

If you're using the latest version of Google Earth 4.3.7...

From the top tool bar, select :-

Tools,

then

Options...,

then click on the restore defaults button in the bottom left corner of the window. I'm not sure if you need to click Apply then OK after you restore your defaults, (I dont want to restore mine quite yet!) but see how you go anyway... it should set the default settings back to original conditions. (with lat/long)
