Buying Advice good used tractors?

Hello im in the market for a used tractor and I would like to hear your opinions. I want an older tractor ('68-'85) with +75hp and under $6500. It will be used for primary tillage, haying, and maybe planting some feild corn. thanks in advance for your help.

You can take a look at International harvester,Massey Ferguson or deere. There are lots of models in that year and horsepower range.

I like the IH886,the guy that square bales for me runs a MF283&275,not sure HP

a later (256ci) ford 5000/5600 will be a hair shy on the hp ( 70hp ).. though a 6600 should hit the mark. ( so will a 7000 and 7600 ).

and you are about in the right price range too. right year range as well. 000 series was 65-75, x600 was 76-8?(early)

Its means more cash but my experience tells me gassers over 50 hp like their gas, diesel seam much more efficient, especially at pto speeds.

i would not reccomend a gasser over 50hp for anything other than play...
