Tractor
john deere 5520
I own a 5520 and I need a small companion tractor for lighter chores. I will be building a home in the spring and it would be handy to have a smaller machine to handle jobs that require great manuverability, as well as having hydro. Can anyone recommend something to fit my needs? Maybe 20hp or so?

I've a 4300, which is sized right for the 30+ hp. (4wd, hydro)
I wouldn't go less than 30 hp myself. And I wouldn't go up in frame size, as this one fits in and around and between most everything just right.

But getting on a few above and below the 30 hp is prolly a good thing for you to do.

How about a 2320, 2520 utility tractor or X748, X749 riding mower. All four have about the same small diesel engine. Just depends on what you want to do. I would compare all of these to see what meets your needs the best.

i own a 2520 that has been great that being said you would be better off looking at the 3000 series of tractors there probly just as manueverable as the 2000 series with a good bit more power .

Welcome to TBN:D I own a JD 790 or 3005 as it is called now. It is 27hp and gets considerable roles around houses and tight spots. It has for different clients and myself leveled spots for sheds and yards, tilled up for re-seeding tight, cramped areas to almost an acre worth of lawns in size, moved manure piles, relocated yards of gavel and dirt, rotary cut or "brush hogged" places that bigger cutters cant or is to much for a lawn tractor, tilled existing gardens, installed brand new gardens, plowed ALOT of snow, the list is long... The 790 isn't a hydro but it has the nimbleness and the size/power for a vast list of chores that include tight spots or fairly open. I would stick with something in the 25 to 30 hp. That weeds out the overgrown "lawn tractors" and keeps you more in the compact utility sized scheme.
