Well, it seemed to me that Tristan (Brad Pitt) had it all, and one of the most beautiful women on the world in love with him, and he went off to see the world, lived with primitive tribes, and the good life passed him by. Seems to me he was obviously affected by his war experiences and the death of his brother, and was having trouble coping.

I think the Tristin character was a free spirit, and a bit of a "wild child" from the beginning. I don't think his war experiences changed him. There was conflict with both of his brothers over the girl.
At any rate, we both enjoyed the movie. Pitt played a similar character in "A River Runs Through It". Have you seen it?

I've had "A River Runs Through It" on my DVR for about a year now. I'll have to bump it up on the list.

I'm aware of it, and have seen snippets, but never watched the whole movie. I agree that he was a wild child, but I think, that having already slept with the girl, his desires came before either of his brothers, at least regarding her. That's why I question his motives. In any case, he cared about his children, but ended up leaving them, presumably out of love and not selfishness. His character is the kind of person that everyone finds interesting, but is best kept out of your life, or at least at arms length.

Read sperm wars. Any idea how many men think they have children that are not theirs? Kind of like the cuckoo(I think) that puts it's eggs into the nest of another bird. Let someone else spend the time and resources furthering ones genetics.

Cowbirds do that. They lay their eggs in other birds nests so they don't have to sit, hatch, and raise their own.

We watched "The Old Guard" last night,, pretty good (NETFLIX)

I watched The Old Guard on Netflix last night. Not bad. At first I thought it was going to be another senseless shootem up/gore film. There was some but it was brief thankfully. Thought provoking storyline.
