Now up to 50F, still foggy ... with rain.

Gallon of Zerex G05 picked up @ NAPA, radiator topped off and heater fully functional in the van ... which was a very welcome development.

Run to Menards in Kent made, fifteen 4 x 8 sheets of dry wall picked up, one 4 x 8 sheet of FRP, three 8' pieces of edging for the FRP, a 4.5 gallon bucket of drywall mud, a Type T conduit fitting (to accommodate the feed/supply to the subpanel and the wiring to the outlet for the compressor) and a double pole 20 amp breaker (for the compressor)

Best part was a couple of strong, young bucks loaded all the drywall.

Worst part is I still have to unload it and get it moved inside ... 🤬

Heading downstairs now for a bit until dinner.

Will get the bracing on the foam board pulled down and probably start cutting more unfaced fiberglass insulation and get that put up.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low was another chilly 4.8C and it's presently 21.1C, lightly overcast with a bit of a breeze.

A very relaxing day was had, yesterday. The only excitement was when the 'Mad Agisting Horse Woman's' Daughter noticed that the water in the trough was low. Yep, with 4 horses on the small 5k litre tank, it had run out. I needed to swap them over to the 'house tank'. However the connections to do that needed to be replaced... fortunately (as we do) I had spares on-hand. I even knew where they were! (y)

Of course they'll now need to be replaced.

Another 'not much going on' kind of day.

That's about it, take care all.

Was about to fill pellet stove and kicked a chair, dropped pellet bag, almost wiped out the lazyboy grabbing it to keep me from falling head first into the stove and wall.
All is well, no apparent toes broken, no spilled pellets from open bag. Fortunately stove not hot enough on top to provide a burned hand.
Sitting with foot propped up.

Still light freezing rain. Wasn’t bad on drive and road when I got trash can in, but frozen on vehicles

Wow, thankful the lady wasn't crushed.

We have been running the A/C in the house the last week.

Put my fuel line guard that goes under the Steiner Beast back under it. It had worked loose and came off, breaking 1 of the bolts. I gave it some Thor hammering and got it back in shape and also tucked up closer to the bottom floor so it won't snag. Then I blew the leaves off the deck, greased it, replaced 1 zert, and pressure washed it and parked it.

Got the son on the smaller tractor and me on the bigger tractor. While the pond is down a few feet, I cut the weeds back along the bank as close to the water as I could. Then I knocked down a bunch of taller weeds here and there.

New Milwaukee compressor works fine. Used it to fill up the GT 80 rear tire and go play a few minutes...ring ding ding ding ding.

Have a great evening all.

@daugen Yes, I'm always careful around uphill hazards, as I've lived with cliffs above me, and in several very geologically active areas, and once ended up on the wrong side of a 1,000 year flood. (Think hurricane Helene type damage) I have a healthy respect for landslides, debris flows, falling rocks, hydroplaning, and tree limbs. "Who me, belt and suspenders?"

Gosh, whoever was in the car in the photo that @m7040 (and @buckeyefarmer, sorry) posted sure seems to have been very lucky. For a number of years, I used to commute by some of the very first eucalyptus (blue gum) trees planted in the US, with 10-15' diameter trunks that dropped 2-3' diameter limbs in most storms, closing the road. They were monsters, but they did smell amazing and made for a wonderful tree line boulevard that never failed to brighten my mood. Eight or ten years later they were all cut down one by one due to liability reasons (the risk of having the whole 150' tree take out very expensive homes, and anyone in them).

@Wagtail your story made me laugh. When we bought this ranch, the selling realtor joked that the prior owners were known as the local plumbing supply shop, having converted a former 10'x10' horse stall into a plumbing "store" with every type fitting from 1/2 through 3" in every size, in both galvanized and PVC. The realtor followed that comment with "and we will have the place emptied at sale", i.e. junking the spare fittings. It took several rounds of pleas/requests to not trash the spares, followed by releases, and counter signatures that we were ok with the shops not being cleaned to the statutory "broom clean" standard. The wall of fittings has saved me many, many times, and these days, I find it so convenient to buy 5-10 fittings in bulk, and toss them in a nicely labeled wall bin, ready when needed, which is usually some emergency. Over time, I've phased out the galvanized as it does not do well in our soil/water, plus I have PTSD from dealing with old galvanized pipe from when I was a kid. The SOP then was a pair of old 60" pipe wrenches and extender pipes. I do not miss it.

Between the storm, wind, and being rousted in the middle of the night for an alarm, today was a quiet day. The elderly relative's return flight was delayed for five hours due to greater aircraft spacing slowing incoming and departing flights. (Ground delay.)

All the best,

Peter

Good Tractor Evening,
Vt, 8 F and snowing fairly steadily but not very heavy now 😉

Not sure how much we are supposed to get but im
Sure it will be a few inches. We had about 4” before it started.

Got here and the pilot was out in our Dovre heating stove in the kitchen. Couldn’t get the pilot relit so I removed a front access plate and used a longer stick with a match taped to the end to get the pilot relit. Seems Ok now so hopefully it was that huge wind storm that tore through here a few days ago.

We narrowed down our hand signed cards, still sent 50 or so.
I am sure those receiving them appreciated the time and effort very much. I always do when we get them. I also read every 'yearly update' that some enclose. We don't write those. Just short personal notes.

Luzianne makes a coffee/chicory blend. Never had it so can't comment on it.
I can recommend it. That was the first commercial chicory coffee we tried about 40 years ago. Instantly loved it.

We still pick up a can occasionally when it's conveniently available. WE have settled on Community coffee with chicory now. We also buy other brands and French Market is another one we like.

good morning all
up too early, at least power stayed on last night
forecast totally off, we got about an inch of frozen sleet and ice.
what is most annoying is trash company at 6pm last night said oh we aren't coming tomorrow
due to weather, so all of the Christmas trash doesn't get picked up.
Worse, my cans, packed full, were taken out early, and now sitting frozen into the ground with a glaze over them.
Bet that will be fun hauling back to the garage.

looks like my ice melt supply will take a hit today, cloudy and only 33 today, not much melting

Drinking first cup of coffee. 29° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with cloudy skies. Everything is cover with a coating of ice from yesterday's rains. I did get some small projects done in shop. Was difficult getting from building to building. But no falling. Sassy had problems with ice. All 4 feets slipping in the wrong direction. Got ice met on walkways and top of drive. Only thing going for today is 1st birthday party for neighbors youngest.

Good Morning All.

Good morning TBN!!
45 out and supposed to be a record high at about 75 and sunny

Just a couple of things got done around here yesterday.
Took the carb out of the Artic Cat to clean and rebuild. Got it partly tore down.
Put a bunch of tools away and cleaned up from the other projects I have going on.
Put up a couple of low hanging LEDs that I then got plugged in to my switched outlets in the ceiling. The outlets aren't so low hanging. About 14' and was doing it from an 8 foot stepladder. Fortunately placed in a way that gave me 3 points of contact at all times. Gives me some good lighting over the center of the shop and over the press. Can't have too much overhead light anymore.
No agenda set for today. Will wait and see what comes up

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Morning all!
Currently 15 with an 8 mph wind. Still snowing for the next couple hours also. Not much, a few inches.
Been up laying on the couch since 11 pm. Need to rid the house of all the bad for me Christmas sweets!
Snow will need to be cleaned up here and everywhere else so I guess that will be my day.
Might visit a few friends for a quick coffee later this morning. Other than that it will be a quiet weekend.
Another storm coming tomorrow with continued unseasonal cold in the forecast.
Neighbor out back ordered a new water pump for his Kubota. We will attempt to get that and all of his hoses swapped out before the next big storm. It has been leaking for the last couple weeks. Good thing I have heat in the garage!
Guess that's enough rambling for now!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

noticed that Wunderground says we have ten hours of daylight
and 14 hours of night.
sure wish it was the other way around

I think the Beatles had it right

but I'm afraid at 26 out now
the ice on Lake Drew is not slowly melting
But...
it's all right.
