good morning, 56 going to 75 sunny does not get much better than this

Cleaned up more wood/lumber and pulled nails some of them difficult ones

Trip to PO to drop off and went back way through Mennonite areas with lots of standing corn. On narrow farm roads almost as if driving in a tunnel with the tall corn on both sides. Looks ready to harvest and some areas had started to

Hearing some chunking in the front of the van on poor roads. Time to check that out today. Could be struts again. Hope not but every 100 K? Should last longer than that

GD's first day of classes went well and she likes her professors

Cody is going to the groomer this morning on his 9 year old birthday. Will post a pic after his spa treatment and pick up this afternoon.

Also picking up groceries

good morning all
surprisingly late start, woke up to dogs barking next door, geez it's almost
7am and the kids are out waiting for school bus. That sure means summer is about over.

ten day weather forecast is for a cooler September, so far with nights in mid to low 50's.
Looks dry though so my watering hose will get some action.

nice dogs everyone

I found a 2x10 oak board I think will work for my garden shed ramp improvement.
now I have to figure out how to cut about a six inch 30-45 degree bevel on the end with the tools I have.
band saw is too small, chop saw too small, have skilsaw but ?
I might cut them to the right length and then take them up to Popgadget's shop.
if he doesn't have the right tool, well, let's say that is unlikely...

you know, I just might get a hand saw out and do it that way, perish the thought... ;)
though I am going to go look at chop saw and see what angle it will cut at; don't think it goes that far but?
sliding chop saw at the right angle seems appropriate assuming I can fit the board in there. Will cut it to size first, heavy wood.

Morning all, 55 to 79 and sunny.
Got woken up by a bird hitting front window at full force, will see if it survives.

Popgadget - can't believe GS is so big, hope he has a great first day.

One of my uncles problem people should be out of his life as of last night. One to go.

Be well,

Not a happy camper.

some fun pictures from 7 to 9 years ago on or near NC farm
fun watching tobacco being harvested the very old fashioned way
that variety of pepper was called an edible decorative plant, the colors were so pretty. Mildly hot peppers.
gave all my hot peppers away.

I clearly wanted to preserve the moment with a fresh paint job on the gazebo.
horrible peely mess when I got it, and I used the sticky (in NC) oil based deck paint.
just hoped not too many bugs would fly into it, get preserved in time.
maybe star in a movie a thousand years from now...

spent an hour pruning shrubs, and picking yet more tomatoes.
my vines look terrible but boy did those plants like the calmag I sprayed on them plus
the supplements like worm poop. Still have a dozen more tomatoes out there.
They get direct sun and I water them every three days heavily.

resting before heading out again. Yesterday I sharpened the blade on my electric push mower, will need to sharpen JD blades soon.
but I did grease the spindle bearings last time just before putting it away.
so the grease would be hot in there. 4 pumps on the Alemite. Very satisfying tool to use.
without a tractor and implements my greasing needs are low level.

RS is either going to have to buy two more freezers or put a farm stand out with his stuff.
His garden size could sustain him long term.
let's see, what other way can we make zucchini bread?
How about with oats and dates and no sugar?
now here's where I bet Don has a good recipe.
I think I'd put raisins in mine.

66F and mostly cloudy @ 12:00, calling for a high of 69F for the day. Slight chance of a shower. LWS reports the low this morning was 48.6F ...

Worked on kitchen clean up a bit first thing yesterday.

Was going to work on the yellow squash but before I could do that young arborist neighbor stopped down and wanted to know if he could borrow the old Stihl FS66 brush cutter to cut down weeds for Grandma.

Apparently Grandma tried to do it herself with his weed eater … and she mistakenly put straight gas in it … possibly smoking it.

Told him sure and got him loaded up.

I had enough presence of mind to ask him if he was up for a little climbing work before he departed and took him around to show him the low-hanging branches I wanted taken down.

"Sure, no problem ..." (y)

He'll return sometime in the relatively near future to trim them up, possibly as soon as this weekend.

After that I got started on the squash and got 6 lbs of yellow squash shredded and vacuum-sealed in 1 lb bags and put in the freezer.

While I was doing that he returned with the FS66 and dropped it off. Sent him home with some yellow squash, cukes, a nice ripe tomato and a large piece of chocolate zucchini cake for him and Grandma.

Got things cleaned up from the processing of the squash after that.

Then spent the evening on the couch.

Crud is still creeping, moved down into my chest from my sinus, nose still running though. Scratchiness in my throat is gone and I was able to get a decent night's sleep. Still a little tired but I really don't feel all that bad.

Agenda for today:

Dole out meds for this week.

Refill bird feeders.

Start mowing down here around the house in the spots where it needs it, mostly back and east side.

Probably do some more watering in the garden.

See if anything needs harvested.

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

69°F and .19 inches rain

Had my initial VA healthcare appointment yesterday. A solid 60 minutes with APRN and RN. Have to say more comprehensive than Medicare Wellness. Had EKG that will go to Cardiologist, possible referrals to Pulmonary and someone about my leg cramps. All my labs were good. A1C 5.8, cholesterols at the marginal, normal for me not taking any statins. Back in 6 months.

Happy Hour at friends in afternoon, Mexican themed.

Will be helping neighbor get his Kubota trailered this morning.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

pretty dogs you all got. .

Went on a mission for lunch, since wife was going to a hen luncheon. Then made a quick sams club run for a couple things. Out the door under $50 was good. Then got some jeans at Tractor supply. their stock usually not the best.

Been going thru pics again today, been marking one pic from every state I've been to. Can't find a picture at all from MN, even though I know I have one from attending a football game there in 1997. Still have 6 states to go, was going to knock 5 off the list next month, but it will have to wait.
Dad not cooperating with PT, so insurance is going to not pay for it.

I laid down for a power nap at 7...got up at 11. Some power nap. Went outside to finish off the shelter at 12 and back in at 3 P.M., all done. It was inspected by the supervisor and I think it passed. Had to reposition 4 of the 6 legs, but that wasn't much of a problem. Power tools make work easy. Used some indoor/outside flame red paint on the cut ends of the logs, mainly to mark where they are in the snow, but also to protect the wood. The fuel guy will thank me. He will be 100% under shelter if it is raining when he delivers.
Pictures will follow after we get the tractor shed roof on.

From Cathy Fishers book "Straight Up Food" there is a zucchini bread recipe (no oil salt or sugar):
Dates, unsweetened nondairy milk, vanilla, oats, millet, cinnamon, baking powder and soda, ginger, nutmeg, zucchini and walnuts.

looking good Cody!

my new Elac Debut 3.0 DB53 speakers showed up today as well as the new weedwacker.
weedeater went right in to garage, speakers went up on the wall and
stereo cranked up.
Have to know your priorities...
very different sound than I'm used to, much more alive, almost like reverb turned on.
much cleaner drums but a touch harsh overall. I'm hoping it will calm down over time, though could be
I'm hearing music I didn't before. Actually a tiny bit smaller than KEF speakers replaced, but heavier.
I probably have to fiddle with toe in and maybe hang a blanket on one wall, small bright room.
finally feel like I'm up sitting with the musicians
though have to keep turning it down when bad ear gets unhappy

Rock it Stevie Nicks
get those tonsils flapping... :giggle:
