Good morning TBN!!
68 this morning with a high of 84. Gonna be a nice day!

Nice day yesterday. Visited with the kids in the morning until it was time for them to head to Myrtle Beach. I hope they do well as they were arriving at about the same time as Chantel.
Then spent a pretty laid back day watching garage TV in the garage. Love having fiber!
Nothing planned for the day.
Might think about going to HB with a 15% off coupon.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

I had to look up Chantel.
I remain uninfluenced...primarily because I don't watch tv.
youtube remains my video entertainment.
Though I think I may rejoin Netflix.

had my second cup and some breakfast and now ready for the world.
probably will go do a little veggie garden weeding.
and snipping, big zucchini leaves keep trying to cover over the green peppers.
green peppers don't like that a bit, everyone wants all the sun they can get

Morning all, 79 going to 91.
Busy day, took down two trees, worked on a bunch of stuff, got rid of some wasps that tool up residence in the pool bar.
And lots of little stuff which ended up taking many hours and ended with grilling up some steaks.

Today, head over to Drews to help out, than to get diesel, gas and propane.
Have some more chairs and stuff to move.
Big grad party is next weekend and already calling for rain ......

Be well.

Took down 2 small dead dogwoods, sliced and diced and piled up.

Found a picture of my Dad's old boat. Built like a tank.

And a very old picture of my Uncle's barn in MA, before the roof and restore was done.

Really sad about the flood victims.
Prayers for the families.
Count is sadly up to 59 last I heard.

Hitting hard because I just had my family out there a couple of weeks ago. And I remember talking with some people that, to fill up Canyon lake (at all time low), it would have to rain really hard where we were.

Little did I know.

The store in Hunt Texas got torn up as it is where the normally small north and south forks of the Guadalupe converge. I was just there too.

A literal wall of water hit during the 4-5am. Cell phone reception is terrible down in the canyons.

Camp Mystic girls. I have no words to say.

A handful of heroic stories here and there, but my heart goes out to the families of lost ones.
Prayers.
Buppies, prayers for you and Holly.
Prayers for our team, our nation, and for peace in the world.

successful morning with Ken.
I haven't had the deck off my mower in four years and off it came today.
Not easily...we were working on unlevel grass and Ken really had to work hard.
But we got all the grass off the bottom, sharpened the blades and greased the spindles.
Ready to go for rest of summer.

we then fiddled with car stereo, took one cover off, not easily and it looks like my replacement speakers will fit fine.
just not a job for today

time for energy conservation

67°F and .26 inches rain Interesting and just started coming down pretty good.

Enjoyed my recovery day yesterday. Looks like I might enjoy a followup depending on this weather.

Of course I see that the grass growing isn’t taking a break.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

90.5F and very sunny @ noon, calling for a high of 92F ... which I expect we'll beat ... just like yesterday.

Slow getting rolling here today.

The high here yesterday hit 93.8F ... and I spent most of the day out in it. Today might be a largely inside day to recover from that. Have to see.

Yesterday after my cool down and lunch of a Cajun Turkey Breast sandwich I went out to the garage and mixed up food for the birds, refilled hopper and both tube feeders, also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders.

Suet feeders were empty so I'll probably sneak out there at some point today and refill those.

Once the feeders were refilled, I hooked up the Water Buffalo and took it over and watered and fertilized the large peach tree. 4 gallons with Schultz's 20-20-20 and 4 gallons of plain water for a total of 8 gallons.

After that I took it up and watered the 4 small oak trees along the road. 2 gallons with 20-20-20 and 2 gallons of plain water each.

Then over to the 5 smaller Rose of Sharon shrubs. 1 gallon with 20-20-20 and 1 gallon of plain water each. Swamp milkweed up there doing reasonably well, unfortunately did not have enough juice to water those.

Noticed some activity in the sparrow trap as I was doing that so headed over to check that out after I finished watering. Got another 3 house sparrows, looked to be juveniles and all were still alive. They should be about cooked by now so will need to be removed at some point today.

Took the Water Buffalo and dropped it back by the garden to be refilled.

Woman had come back out at that point as it had cooled off - not much but a little - and was picking Japanese Beetles off plants in the garden.

Since there was some shade I took the opportunity to sit in the old office chair I had moved out of the basement onto the patio and Woman came over and we chatted for a bit.

She suggested that since I had emptied the Buffalo I should use the opportunity while we were just sitting there to refill it. She's really helpful like that ...

So I went over and hooked it up and started a slow refill.

Took down the string line along the concrete walkway as it was a tripping hazard.

Wasn't too long after that She had had enough of the heat and headed back inside.

I started working on the winter squash and pumpkins along the east edge of flower bed that I had planted yesterday (?), giving each one a drink and mulching around the plants.

Once that was done started planting some of the "Honey Baby" winter squash in the remaining spaces that were available. Got 2 planted before getting called in for dinner, then got another 2 planted after dinner.

At that point it was starting to get dark so I gathered up the stuff that needed to be brought inside and came on in myself after watching the bats feed for a bit.

Around 23:00 I turned on the floodlights and went back out and connected up the soaker hose on the indeterminate tomatoes and ran it for around 20 minutes.

That hose has a good sized leak in it which I was able to locate using the flashlight on my phone. Fortunately I have a hose mender for 1/2" hose in stock ... so repairing that is on the menu at some point today.

Right now I need to get out there and get the stuff on the back shelves watered before they dry out too badly.

Then I might hook up the soaker hose on the blueberries and rhubarb and let that run for a bit. They have not been watered so far this year.

Temps have been hot enough that anywhere the ground isn't mulched or covered with weed block fabric it is cracking due to drying out.

Other than that just see what else comes up.

Day lilies have begun to bloom:

Good afternoon, 79˚F, raining, 1/2" this morning, under a flash flood watch.
The flood in my county resulted in one death so far and 2 missing.
The Texas Flood death toll is at 71 with dozens still missing.

the two day Lake rise of 25' put our lake at 14' above full. This is only from the N. San Gabriel river. In town the un-damed S. San Gabriel river connects to the N. San Gabriel causing flooding and evacuations along the river and down another 15 miles to the "Farm". The farm building are either on piers or are built on man made hills about 15-20 feet high out of the 100 year flood plain.

Plants on back shelves watered, tomatoes were really drooping but perked right back up after being watered. Everything else was doing fine.

Woman was doing laundry so I drew 2 gallons from the Buffalo and mixed up some 17-18-28 in it.

Woman made pancakes so I came back inside for those.

Outside temp now up to 94.2F, Heat Index is 99.6F.

Watching the Honda 200 @ Mid Ohio.

Good Afternoon,
Vt, a hot one today but nice breeze out on the lake. Just got back to the house and need to get the grass mowed one more time. Kind of waiting for it to cool down a bit first.

A couple of pictures of the kids out on the lake and around the camp fire 🙏
