Happy Birthday Ron! I hope you have a blessed day, and your foot gets better. Also hope you get a big piece of cake.

Speaking of eating sweets, have any of you heard of Warren Buffett's eating habits?
Drinks 5 cokes a day.
7 times the normal amount of sugar a day.
McDonalds breakfast biscuit 7 days a week for 54 years.
EATS NO VEGETABLES.
Dairy Queen chili cheese dog and sundaes for lunch.
Often eats See's candy/chocolates.
Almost 95 years old IIRC. Docs say his blood work shows good numbers.
Says keys to longevity are 8 hours of sleep, and living a stress free life.
Says he looked at the demographics and that 6 year olds are the least likely to die, so he "eats like a 6 year old."
Works 12 hour days.
Reads 5-6 hours a day.
Loves to play card game Bridge for mental stimulation.

Warren Buffett turns 94 today. His secret to longevity? Coca-Cola, candy, and a life of joy

Morning all, 74 going to 91 and the air is moist !
Got a haircut and picked up some food items.
Then re-potted the dad tree into it's new pot. Waiting for dirt to settle a bit and finish that.
Started raining again, so didn't need to water.

Today hope to move the dirt around the driveway to get it evened out on the high side.
That may take a few days with 700 feet of road to do.

Happy birthday Ron and as always thank you for the great morning pictures.

Be well,

Since my neighbor and friend died in my vehicle on the way to the hospital Sunday morning I couldn't see myself driving it anymore.
Shame as it was less than 6 months old.
I get my new replacement Mazda CX90 Friday.
Still shock up. Haven't heard the autopsy results yet. Heart related probably at only 48.

Good Morning
76° and humid, might make 90 with chance of airmass thunderstorms late in the day.

You can tell it’s humid out there!

Fairly productive day yesterday, got the tire mounted on the Progressive mower. It’s the one making ground contact.

Picked up the material (1/2” hot rolled steel bar) and cut out the parts for my friend. They go on a machine to remove railroad ties.

I am still amazed at the quality of the cuts on the plasma table.

After following Kyle’s advice and cleaning the scroll and jaws on the 3 jaw lathe chuck, the runout is less than .001, which is quite acceptable.

I got the Lazer out and mowed around the house and the runway, but I think it’s still too wet to mow with the tractor for the big areas.

Not sure what I’ll do today, been thinking about making a winch mount that hooks on a ladder to lift HVAC components onto a roof for my mechanical contractor buddy.
It would use a HF ATV winch powered by a Milwaukee M18 battery. Hasn’t progressed out of my head and into AutoCad yet, but it is coming together.

Happy Birthday Ron!

dropped off a spare dvd player to my friend in Doylestown who has two grandchildren coming in and a broken dvd player.
Plus I loaned her half a dozen movies I had, including a good chick flick, pretty woman.

swung by my childhood farm on the way home, wanted to take pics for siblings.
The big rock in the rear lawn of this huge home used to be in the front lawn of our old home, which they
tore down. But nice to see someone has kept up with the masonry on the old stone incinerator.
Doubt there are too many of those left.
This was beautiful in its day. Used to be four 55 gallon drums on the right side, you'd feed the burnable stuff into the opening on the right side
and the ashes would get scooped out on left bottom. All of it went into woods far away from anything, and in last ten years we had farm we got all that cleaned up. Private dumps not allowed for sure much less private incinerators. But a nice memory of the past.

I got my rifle practice with a .22 single shot Marlin in that dump, blasting away at those bottles and cans.
My father was an early Rodale organic gardener and that dump always bothered him, finally said no more.

Ken's home is on the other side of that hill, Bowman's Hill, to the right.

Mortally wounded the first one, second one which was closer to the house froze.
Big mistake on its part as that enabled me to get the second shot off.
Hauled those up to the lot for buzzards, one of which was already circling when I drove up.

Now RS, those nice animals have rights too. Did you offer them counseling first?
I see you gave them the accelerated funeral service at no extra charge, nice of you.
happy fat buzzards tonight

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:Rodents have had their counseling over the decades usually including lots of and varied 4 letter words. These counseling should suffice for a great many generations :) :)

68°F and .16 inches rain.

The wetness won yesterday. Finally dry enough early afternoon only to have skies do another dump just enough to soak me before I could get back to tractorshed. Gave up

Plan remains to resume mowing today.

Scotty, hope those stones pass. Ouch

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

75F and cloudy @ 12:30, which is the predicted high for the day. Showers off to the north and west which are headed this way.

Checking several LWS in our immediate area on WU shows they are reporting around an inch of rain in the last 24 hours. I wouldn't be surprised if we had actually gotten more, given the torrential downpours we experienced. Need to get that rain gauge up.

Just before The Woman arrived last night to pick me up for our dinner outing another groundhog appeared, this time in the yard on the east side of the house. It was an adult.

So I grabbed the 12 gauge and attempted to open the window in the bedroom @ the northeast corner of the house. That spooked it ... and it scurried off into the woods towards the barn.

Wasn't long before the temptation of that tasty grass drew it back out though. I was able to get the window open and get a shot off. Think I wounded it but it was still able to dash into the woods over towards the barn. Will have to see if it expires and starts stinkin'...

Woman arrived just after that and we headed off to Steak-N-Shake down in Canton for dinner as I was craving a 'Frisco Melt and some of their chili.

Wow ... has that place ever changed.

You have to place your order at a electronic terminal as you go in ... no waiters/waitresses come to your table to take your order ... or serve it for that matter.

Silverware all gone ... replaced with plastic utensils.

Staff was probably half of what it typically would be (4 people maybe vs maybe 8)

Place was mostly empty.

Can't say I was too happy about any of that ... but The Woman commented that the food was still good.

After dinner we headed back home and made it before the line of storms hit.

More torrential downpours and another Tornado Warning issued, again for Cuyahoga Falls/northern Summit County.

I fell asleep on the couch during NOVA, woke back around 23:00. Had a hard time falling back asleep so headed out to the garage and puttered around until around 3 AM.

Woman was up and down as well, having indigestion.

Not sure what all on agenda for the rest of the day.

50% chance of thunderstorms until around 2 PM, then tapering off into the teens for the rest of the day. Looks like a little cool front may be coming in.

I do have the seed mixed to refill the tube feeders so will probably do that at some point, along with the hopper feeder.

Need to check plants on back shelves to make sure nothing is drowning, possibly some planting involved there ... depending on wet it is.

Beyond that see what else comes up.

Happy 83rd to Ron !

Hope everyone is having a decent Thursday.

Now RS, those nice animals have rights too.

Yes ... the have the right to live peacefully anywhere they want on our property that isn't under a building or man-made structure or in the gardens.

This comes with a provision that tunneling is prohibited along any underground piping, whether it be water, electrical, sewage or drain lines.

Did you offer them counseling first?

Of course ... but they didn't listen.

I see you gave them the accelerated funeral service at no extra charge, nice of you.

We aim to please.

;)

happy fat buzzards tonight

Got to keep the clean up crew happy.

your plants will sleep better now

So will the foundation of our house.

RS, I have used my 22/250 in the past but recently they were close enough that I took them out with my 20 ga Remington 1100 with 7 1/2 shot, some old skeet loads.

I've been using that No. 4 shot that Lou recommended - Winchester Super X - seems to be doing the job ... provided my aim is good.

Hope the heat/humidity eases up and your medieval torture session goes well.

on this day years ago I was arranging red, white and blue potatoes.
gave quite a few combos out to friends so they could have
patriotic potato salad for July 4th.

just darkened up and a few rain splatters, but storms will come in at dinner time.

Got all the grass mowed, was pleasant breeze blowing, even if it was in upper 80s. skies darkened when I was going to go to town afterwards, big storm hit. temp dropped 20 deg, got .6" rain in 20 minutes. still rumbling around.

65F, breezy, with showers in the vicinity. It appears that the cool front has moved through.

Did get the hopper, both tube feeders and both suet feeders refilled, also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders while dodging the raindrops. Found another box of suet cakes.

No work likely in the garden today.

I did plant a couple of "Black Magic" Elephant Ear bulbs in pots that we missed getting planted last year. Bulbs seemed firm so I figured I'd give 'em a shot. Woman will be impressed if they end up doing anything.

Also have some sweet potatoes from last year that seem firm so will give it a shot getting those started.

Seven of the winter squash/pumpkin seeds planted in pots in the greenhouse have sprouted.

More clean up/organizing in the garage, there is now a path to pegboard by the man door.

Working on a Menards order, might go down and pick that up this evening.

Prayers. Did he have family?
Divorced parents, brother, aunt, uncle, cousins.
He looked to me more as his father figure than the real thing.
Missing his morning calls checking in on how I'm doing.
He was always willing to do things for me when I was sick etc.
