50 degrees this morning odd to have heat on at the end of May more rain today clears out later more rain storms Friday. Weather forecasters see really hot weather coming for the summer hope not. Flowers on deck making nice show just have to remember to water them.

Have run run synthetic oil in vehicles since 1984 all small engines. Change oil once a year in mowers tractor etc. always run high test in all that run on gas no ethanol diesel cetane rating 47. Always run good quality oil air filters. Amsoil,Mobile One are my go to products

I can remember wearing still long John's to work around Memorial Day sometime in the late 80's. Wind would be cold under the canopy of dozers.

Engineer I remember water skiing the day after thanksgiving no wet suit and not cold at Smith Mountain Lake. I believe it was 1973

54F cloudy and moist @ 10:00, heading up to around 62F for the day’s high temperature.

Really not much on agenda for today.

Need to get the pre filter for the Cub air cleaner washed out today so it can dry and be installed tomorrow.

Might see about repotting a couple more tomato seedlings if any are ready.

Maybe dig out the hummingbird feeder and get it put up.

Other than that probably spend the day up in the shop.

Went to fuel Kubota yesterday, no joy out of the nozzle after turning the pump on. Thought about it for a bit after several tries, then realized that wasp nests in the nozzle might be the culprit.

Sure enough I encountered a blockage after sticking a screwdriver up the nozzle. Tried it again after removing the nest a little came out but clogged back up. Screwdriver wasn’t really long enough to go all the way in so will need to try again with something longer.

Tank sat empty for a couple years and I have new elements for the filter so will replace that as well and see where that gets us. Really need to find a cap for that nozzle.

do you put about 100-150 hours on it yearly?

Pretty sure at least 100 hours ... if not closer to 150 (or more)

It gets used for more than just mowing.

Need to look at the old filters that are sitting on top of the used oil drum up in the shop. They're all marked with the date installed and the hours.

in which case I'd change it end of year and let it sit through winter with clean oil in it.

That reminds me ... I really should change the oil in the van.

Think it's at least 3 or 4 years old.

Oil life sensor shows it still has 5000+ miles left on it though.

I only put a fraction of that on my mower, only really change the oil to get out any condensation, using good full synthetic, and a filter, and not used in terrible conditions,

Going to check into that KOHLER PRO 10W-50 Synthetic Oil and KOHLER PRO Extended Life Oil Filter.

Be interested to know the specs on the filter ... and who is providing the oil to Kohler.

Like the idea of a 10w50 ... but I'll bet it is pricey.

Yeah ... filters are about twice the cost of a regular filter ... which not a bad deal considering the hours you get out of it.

The media is 10 micron rated wire-backed fiberglass:

Oil is around $20+ a quart ... which is very pricey. Think I paid around $25 for the last 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 10w30.

I bet you could do 200 hours. I wouldn't, but I bet pros do.

The oil in the genny and Z-turn both get changed in fall, they get Castrol 10W30. The Kioti gets changed every two years, oil and filter. It gets Rotella T4 10W30. On the off year it gets a half a change. It has a split oil pan with two plugs and I only drain one side of the pan and top off.
The Dodge gets changed once a year in Spring with Castrol semi-synthetic 10W30.

My get up and go got up and went without me. Nothing going to get done today.

though decided a mug of hot tea this afternoon would hit the spot.
did get the house cleaned up, found some nasty cobwebs in the guest bedroom.
I need to have a cleaning lady come in once or twice a year, not every week or two.
so it was me and a couple microfiber towels and a can of Pledge, not exciting duty.

keeping an eagle eye out for squirrels, who about every hour try to get to the seed.
I've nailed a couple of them but one turned around and wiggled its tail at me and then sauntered off.
now that squirrel deserves more than a bb to the butt...

Made a sams club run in the rain, after a stop at mission bbq for lunch.... Got my priorities straight.
My tractors and Lawn mowers can't read a calendar so I change by the hour meter.
When I got home from my mission, i took a wadded up paper bag, stuck it under the stuff in the fire pit and lit with the torch. bag burned but the soaked wood did not catch, so will try another day, didn't want to stand in the rain trying again.
paid a couple bills. rain has slowed, 1.8" since yesterday.

I stopped at costco to get a couple things that sams didn't have, but after circling parking area a couple times I left. Gas 2.93 at Costco here, I got it at sams for the same.

59°F and cloudy this morning, got up to 74° today. Stayed cloudy all day and looked like it might rain any minute, but never did.

One more day of work this week, then I'm out of the office Friday for an annual golf tournament put on by our staffing firm. Was a great time last year, and looking forward to it again.
