good morning all
looks like a lovely day, sunny and 70's.
lots to do today, get car washed , get new key made for car at dealer,
only got one at sale and I demanded a second key. Luckily for them not a super smart key
so they have a key guy come once a week to program new keys. You would think a dealership would know how
to key their own cars???

also have to stop and pick up a CD check. Rates are now at 4 percent for 7 months. Not high enough to get me to re-up but I might
take half and buy another cd and put rest back into market. Very hard to predict what is going on..

also on the agenda is calling Richard's Gravely in Spencer WV to talk to them about the Gravely's pto clutch. They are the
gurus on old Gravelys.

Kyle, John Deere must use some fancy material in those gearboxes...would have expected a price in the 700-900 range for JD, even Bush Hog
commercial is like 1500. I'd pick the next higher hp up and go generic, assuming it all fit.

Morning all!
48 going to 59 today. Looks like a crappy week in the forecast.
Still better than winter though!

Wife and I will head out to do some shopping today. I need to gas up the truck while we're out.
Going to try container gardening this year. Also cutting way back on what we will plant. Might be just tomatoes.

Worked outside this weekend. Moved quite a bit of stuff around with the forks on the tractor. Looks much neater and will be easier to mow and rake around. Need to mow out back but it is still to mushy! Also need to turn the mulch piles. Think I will start looking for another area that is drier.

Did some rearranging in the shop again. Will get it all figured out eventually! Made a platform to stand on so the new machine isn't so high for me. Hopefully will help with the neck and shoulders.
That's all for now.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Phil, great idea to get your work at a comfortable level, no bending over.

the amount of disease in the forests of NY is truly sad. Whole areas were covered in
what looks like their version of skin cancer

and as expected, my well fed birds are loving the rear steps of my rv
to do their business
please, please, go over there ;)

Good morning, the low is 30 and going up to 55°F. Wind N 9 mph. Clearing later, snowing right now.

I don't think I will be doing anything outside today. Although my pig mats did come in yesterday.

Drew, a cat might fix the bird poop problem.

Back down the rabbit hole and another power nap.

Have a safe day all

Good morning TBN!!
55 heading to the 80s again today with very little chance of rain.

Not too very much yesterday.
I got a 20' rebar hammered in to the bank. Sunk it about 8'. Can't swing a sledge like I used to. Had to sit every few minutes. Plan to day is to try and get the end bent to weld it to a tank Should be a very stout base to build off of.
Tried to figure out the lift problem on the tractor. Finally fixed it when I reseated the quick connects for the third time.
Maybe go get a battery for the tractor today. Getting to be a PITA to jump it each time.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

good morning, 56 going to 70 and sunny

Made coffee as usual and walked Cody. Discovered the trash can was pushed over and trash torn up. Maybe a bear got down from the mountain or maybe raccoons were able to do it. In any case a lot of cleanup before taking it up to the road for pick up today

Wanted to mow yesterday but the wind gust of up to 30 MPH was enough to not wanting to get blasted with grass clippings

Instead changed the engine oil and filter on the Kubota RTV. It still had hours to go before changing but it had been more than a year before last change. The two large skid plates had to come off to get access and the M12 Milwaukee 3/8 inch ratchet tool came in handy. Used Rotella T6 15W-40. Plan to do the rest of the Kubota engines as well

Should be able to get back to mowing today with the ZD331. Cleaned the air filter on it and found it completely jammed up with grass clippings. Surpised it ran as well as it did. Blew it out and checked the inner filter as well. Need to get a new one.
Got stuck in mud last time I used it as well. Recent rains have changed the areas to stay out of. Always keep tow straps and chains in the RTV to be ready to pull it out.
Easy to do when close to the barn but further out it requires a lot of walking to go back and get the RTV and return it

Good Morning,
Bahamas,79 going to 80, actually we are still moving so not quite there yet. Beautiful sky this morning.Yesterday we stopped at Coco Beach, we Uber’s to the beach for about 3 hours, drank a few beers 🍺😉
So we will be in Nassau shortly, not sure what the day holds. Hopefully not too stressful 😂

Decided we'd just have regular scrambled eggs instead
GM Billy, I’m with you, regular scrambled eggs for me also 😉

Happy, glad you fixed tractor loader issue 🙏

Ron, a couple fine looking frogs this morning 😉

Hope all have a good start to their week 🙏

Good Morning
59° sunny and breezy. Looks like another nice day.

Yesterday I got all the mowing done, took a while, not too many spots were so wet that they had to be avoided.

Took the string trimmer for a walk, followed by the blower. Blew the mower off, the rear deck probably had 8” of clippings piled on it. Even mowed the RC runway while the Lazer was out.
But pretty much killed the day.

Today starts off with getting a ride up to Newburgh, NY to the Citation service center to pick up the Citation. It was scheduled for routine maintenance, as well as the engine control fault, some avionics issues and an upgrade to the onboard WIFI.

Not sure how much of the day that will kill, hopefully I’ll be back for lunch. But you never know with these things.
I’ve got nothing planned but an oddfellows meeting this evening, so it will be easy to play by ear.

Morning all, 61 going to 74 and sunny.
Spent most of yesterday trimming back the edges of paths, driveway, pool and plantings. Everythings growing like crazy, including the tulip poplars and all the vines. Must have pulled 40-50 feet of fake grape vines from bushes around the house. Still more to go but ran out of steam.

Did a trip to Peddlers village, they are having a birdhouse competition. Dog did not care, but had fun socializing.

Need to work on college paperwork. fun fun.

Hope to get more prep work done so I can get the summer furniture out and get the pool ready to open, was too windy yesterday and lost of debris going around. Stayed out of the forest.

Back to the day job, be well,

Tulip poplars living up to their name, talk about mess when the thousands of them drop. Then little poplar sprouts everywhere.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! Currently 60° heading to a high of 72°, cloudy. Looks like rain but the weather guessers say it's to clear and then rain tomorrow night. All that to say what do I know?

Good weekend, got almost all the mowing caught up on Saturday. Still need to do the outer fringes, but those aren't nearly as high priority. Went up to the mountain to spend the afternoon with grandma and aunt, had a good hike. Lakes were crowded despite not having a lifeguard out yet. That water must be cold though. Had a good lunch with them.

The Great Groundhog Hunt has been resolved. I saw him twice, once while mowing and he scuttled quickly for the tree-line, then again from the upstairs bathroom where he dove under the gazebo. The third time he was a little too comfortable, my thoughts were he didn't think I could see him poking his head and torso up from behind the gazebo decking. .17HMR 20 grain XTP made him flop, hit him center mass but he made it back under the gazebo after a scramble.

Bright red blood with specks on a nearby leaf and streaked on the back side of the gazebo. Despite not being DIT (Dead In Tracks) I think it's safe to say he's done. No damage to gazebo or wrought iron table I had to thread the bullet through to hit him. A successful 67 yard shot from the upstairs bathroom. I think there's a redneck joke in there somewhere. I'm more than happy to let them live in the tree-line or out in the scrub, but digging under foundations is a no-no.

As for this week, nothing major on the radar. Lots of people on Vacation, so everyone is coasting while they can. I've relaxed my search in Northeastern PA for land and property, as the vast majority want to hold onto their mineral rights until Gabriel blows his horn. So I'm focusing now on more rural areas only slightly North of my current home.

Goals for this week: Survive work week, Finish mowing cycle before it begins again.

Y'all stay safe out there and be well!
Prayers for those ailing and recovering!

Have you tried using a rotary hammer drill or even better the various breaker hammers.

They make various "bits" for driving ground rods for the hilti style hammer drills.

52 earlier, now 72 going to 80. Sunny and too nice to be inside. But nursing a painful wrist and foot.

Got all the paving stones for the raised bed planters laid yesterday, but we redesigned, so need 5 more...also bought more sand than needed so 1 bag is going back...will trade for 5 stones and get money back...that polymer sand is pricey.

Had to do a good deal of hoe and shovel work to get the site to level, and aggravated my wrist in the process. Will finish today to have it cure before tomorrow night's rain. Wife has been a big help. As soon as we finished working on it yesterday, a baby rabbit sat on it a while and gave approval.

Carolina wrens are nesting on our porch again...she has been incubating eggs for a while, so should be time for hatching soon.

55F and cloudy @ 10:30, calling for a high temp of only 63F ... which is about 10 degrees below normal. Still, average temp this month is running about 1F above normal. This week will probably level that out with cooler temps.

Some sun would sure be nice, fortunately they are calling for partly cloudy skies this afternoon.

Swapped out bucket for forks on Kubota yesterday first thing.

Then got two of the 6" x 12' round posts moved onto a set of wooden saw horses in preparation to coat with roofing sealer, after running up to the shop to collect my Fiskars pickaroon.

Reading over the directions - which were actually pretty brief - I noted that they specifically advised not heating the product.

Also saw that they claimed that the product generally dries within 24 hours.

Then back up to the shop and grabbed a couple of cheap chip brushes.

Woman worked on one of the posts and I worked on the other one and we got about half of the circumference of each post coated. The one She did is going to need a little touch up to get the spots that didn't get completely covered:

IMG_3668 copy.jpg

By the time we'd finished coating both you could see where portions were starting to dry and once we knocked off for the day both were pretty much tack-free.

Coverage seems decent.

After we got the posts 1/2 coated we headed around back and started taking down the remesh panels on the stright trellis.

Once those were down we set the cattle panels on some 5 gallon buckets and I worked on clipping them to t-posts while The Woman worked on further clean up of the garden.

After the cattle panels were all fully secured we started on planting the two flats of brassicas.

Got 9 "Early" cabbage along with 9 "Green Comet" broccoli planted and all covered with netting to hopefully keep the deer and cabbage moths off of them. They were not disturbed overnight ... (y)

Agenda for today:

Repotting tomato seedlings inside while it's still cool out.

Once the sun comes out more work on coating the posts.

Need to check seeds that were planted in pots and probably give those a drink.

Then back to working on getting the rest of the brassicas planted.

Maybe see if I can work a little mowing in.

Possible diesel delivery later in the day.

Some of the locals seem to be really enjoying our planting beds ... with a little rest after their mid-morning browse:

IMG_3669.jpg

Burning daylight, time to get moving.

Hope everyone is having a decent Monday ... (y)

67°F and .06 inches rain

Not quite the do nothing day yesterday. Took advantage of the beautiful day and got some more interior mowing done. Looks like I’ll get more today.

Almost got my 1st full night’s sleep in 3 weeks, let the little girl sleep outside her crate for first time. She was good. But Sophie put her out about 5:30 and closed the doggy door which she noisily protested when ready to come in. Will have to judiciously ask why.

Need to visit Kawasaki dealer in town, see if he has fuel filter in stock.

Happy Hour in town this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day.
