Good morning!!!!

I have gotten so feed up with Lowes and Home Depot that I very seldom go in now. I'll order online for curbside pickup. Let them bring it out to me. I'm not sure if I'm just getting more intolerant of incompetence or they are just getting more worthless in the stores and just unable to help and then not having adequate cashiers on hand. And to tell me to use the self checkout, hell no.
I avoid big box stores like the plague but you can get into the gardencenters at the end, and check out right there.
less steps for me
used to be funny but if they tell you the wrong place several times and you've hiked up and down those remarkably hard floors for what seems like hours, it's no fun. I actually find that the online will tell you location in store. Sometimes it's accurate.
their garden center pricing is pretty good, because they buy in such quantity

but I still struck out finding pattipan squash this morning

67°F and a scant .01 inches rain

Sophie’s Dr appointment went well.

Guys lost at H&F. Gals took early lead and never looked back. Chicken tacos were excellent as was my very mixed salad concocted with 4 variety of greens from neighbor.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I agree. And it's not just those two.
after owning my town's insurance agency for 20 years, where I got in at the literal crack of dawn, I owned a retail store for five years.
had seven employees in my electronics business and thankfully got lucky with employees. Most were hobbyists of some type, one
was retired and loved electronics, so I had guys working for me who were enthusiastic about what we had.
We were not a normal Radio Shack and that's why they liked it. I was only half Tandy.

but every day we were open the front door was unlocked five minutes before 9am. Sometimes to a small line of folks on a weekend before Christmas. Opening a few minutes early was strongly appreciated. We opened on time, we priced products fairly, we were knowledgeable about most of what we sold (no I'm not exactly sure what a triac does...) and we fixed anything we sold. The shop was remarkably successful. Unfortunately my marriage wasn't and post divorce it just wasn't as much fun. Plus I needed out of those closed in walls, needed some air.

good business is just the basics. If you work there and deal with customers, you have to know the products. There's never downtime, you can at least be studying something, reading the label on the back of the box, educating yourself, making sure you know where items are.
And stay off your phone.

where are the motivated energetic employees?

self checkout can be a huge annoyance because too often the scan doesn't work.

my pet peeve is tractor supply. Still looking for some smarter folks there. Thankfully most have items in the same places at every store.
so you know you have to go to the back wall for batteries and the right front for clothing, front left for chemicals, center aisle for geegaws, back left for motor oil

Harbor freight is a good one; they have a system, and I think their employees know where most things are.
do they know how that mini lathe works? no

Morning all, 63 going to 85 and dry, sunny.
I spent a few hours mowing yesterday before the grass gets too high.
Talk about dry/dusty - I thought it was spring. Had to already start watering trees and plants.
Ground is dry and cracked again.

Tomorrow is brewfest at Washingtons crossing and then Kentucky derby at friends house. I will be car pooling with new truck, so I guess not being able to drink has one advantage.
Then Sunday off to LI to my brothers for the family gathering to remember my Dad.

Be well,

Nightshade?

Glechoma hederacea Otherwise known as creeping charlie

More a nuisance than anything
The insects seem to like it, Hand pull in garden/mulched areas. It's everywhere, so not much chance of eradicating it.

Creeping Charlie, also known as ground ivy, is a common perennial weed that thrives in shady, moist areas and is difficult to control due to its ability to spread rapidly through runners (stolons) and seeds. It is a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae) and is characterized by its square stems, scalloped leaves, and purple, funnel-shaped flowers.

all over my backyard until I put down weed and feed. Half the yard died...lot of weeds but I know there's more of this stuff.

before it got hotter barbecued a tray of chicken outside and had a bite of that for lunch. Zippy and not overcooked.
I cooked it to slice up and put on a chef salad. Need to make myself eat more lettuce. Plus mushrooms were on sale today and I bought
two boxes to cook with the chicken in a stir fry. I can't just eat the same chicken four times...

now for a quiet afternoon.
c'mon rain

Last time I was at HD they had a cashier at the self check outs. She told me no more dyi checkout.

Worked some more on the barn and was successful in raising the beam about 4 inches and wedging it. That took care of two posts. The third post is more stubborn so built a tower and started two screw jacks on the massive beam to take the weight off it. The beam is 12 x12 inches and over 60 ft long. Would like to have seen the tree it came out of. Must have been huge

I go into Canadian Tire in North Bay through the service entrance. The bathrooms are right as you go into the store. Two rules for seniors; (1) NEVER pass a bathroom and (2) NEVER trust a fart!
Most of what I get there is in the automotive section anyway.
We've got that creeping charley up here, too. By the time it is warm enough for it to grow, I am usually too busy to deal with it. Most of the good weed killers you've got down there are banned up here. :(
