Nothing is in order since his GF is in charge.
We only found out due to the Hospice nurse finding my brothers phone number on hospital paperwork.
But the situation could be worse so we'll deal with it as it unfolds.
Ugh.

Sound like what I am going/went through. My situation is elder fraud.

This one will be mostly interjecting ourselves on burial etc. so it won't be as bad as what you are going through.
I doubt we will get anything, so there is no expectation.
We just want to make sure the end goes as well as possible.

Good morning. 12 degrees Fahrenheit, but getting warmer next week.

Meanwhile, they’re starting to clean up the giant snowfall, using dump trucks!

This is what the neighborhood looks like today. Last year at this time, there was nothing! And up north, the snow is even deeper.

I have also included a couple of pictures of the icing on the front of the house, which is bad, bad news. This is our first winter in the house and I’m having a guy come over today to see if he can’t chip it out and then install deicing cables

Heading out for Physiotherapy for my knee at noon, and then some paperwork this afternoon. No trip up north this weekend, because the kid is coming home from her Caribbean cruise, and I am a bit worried that her flight back on Sunday might be canceled or delayed because of that accident at the airport. They have removed the plane, but two of the main runways are still closed!😱

Hope everyone has a great day!

I wonder if you can beat their system by putting up a tiny home. Use it for a guest cottage later.
A small home is all I want, but I want to build it. I want to put a small building up first to secure tools, etc, and have a place to store things as I build it. Actually would like to have a place to park the camper and use it there. add septic and well, then build place if we decide to. My issue with the Twp boils down to the rights of a property owner. If I buy property I should be able to build a garage or barn before I build a house.

No buildng permits where I come from in Ohio, yet people still generally build houses to code. Drive thru PA, they lost the war on zoning years ago, you see commercial property mixed in all over in areas in the middle of housing areas. They let that horse out of the barn long ago. In PA, permits are done by twp. Most now make you pay a commercial inspector company, the twp doesn't do it. Pretty easy for them to just say, pay someone else to do it. Pay us to get a permit for driveway, septic, building, aux building, water, & air usage.

19 deg and snowing. Had a good breakfast meeting. Snow was just starting up there, the further I got towards home, the more snow. drive and deck have a light coating. Unsalted roads covered, salted roads starting to accumulate some.

If it's the ice in the gutters you are worried about, good luck.

Gutter leaf guards will make it even worse.

I just had gutters put on about 1/3 of the house last year, I was worried about ice buildup in the gutters causing issues. According to the salesmen it wouldn't be an issue, I didn't believe him then and I now know he was lying through his a**. I had them install roof deicing cables on the roof and in the gutter. They used standard roof cables such as you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. They did not run them so they function worth a damn. They zig zap the roof one as per all the drawings but it does not reach down to the gutter guards, they also ran one down the gutters and down spouts. This does not work the roof cables will clear the roof in the V pattern which drips down into the snow on top of the leaf guards and while some gets down into the gutter it all ices up and fills up excepting for a tiny channel in the gutter.

I have used considerable ice melt to much of it out a couple of times.

I'm not sure what the best and most effective cost method to clear this out is going to be.

I am thinking at this time the "industrial" self regulating heat trace cableing run in loops in the gutter so the ice can be melted with channels reaching the bottom of the leaf guards and the bottom of the gutter and the inverted V runs on the roof brought down to and on top of the leaf guards to make a system that has channels completely through the ice buildup.

Also I am going to install some smart switches to control the cables remotely.

65°F and .01 inches rain.

Generator tech deemed my generator in good health, not the cause of my errors. Feels it may be an overload setting triggered by settings. Sensible, but only if one discounts there has not been a problem for 5 years. Not to reschedule the solar installer to determine if a bad component or possible a bad calibration.

Quick trip into town yesterday to get a couple M12 x1.75 35 bolts for the tiller gearbox and a tube of thread locker. Made it back in time for the Gen tech.

Back to work on the tiller this morning.

H&F later at friends

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

+1°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 20° today. Brrr. Voice on the radio this morning suggested maybe 63° on Monday. We'll take it.

Spike, I worked mostly on the F/A-18 program, but a little on some C-17 composite structures. It's an amazingly large aircraft. Humbling to stand next to something that big. I also live about 10 miles from Scott AFB.

Sorry to read about your father, Ken. Hope it can remain drama-free. Nobody needs that.

Good morning, gents.

Good evening, 14 to start with now 24 with windy conditions

Good news on the cyber hack of the hospital. They had been down since January 27 and is now back in operation. They had worked with LE and third parties. Sounds like they did not sell out.

Also good news for daughter that got scammed with a time share deal. All dropped. Told her to call Experian and check the credit report

Wife is doing a little better and is able to do some cooking. She made an amazing lobster roll with some crunch in it. Not sure what it was but she said she incorporated some Celery in it that gave it a unique taste and crunch

check, can't see where those heating wires could hurt, just be careful up on a ladder.
that ice backs up your roof, gets underneath the shingles and you can have roof leaks when it all melts.
good to prevent it if you can

got some snow flurries this afternoon,, dusted everything white again.
detail shop called and asked to keep car another day, they said it was better but not perfect.
Since they refuse to take extra money for the "paint correction", perhaps because I wisely invested in
some Entemann's donuts for the staff, I'm sure car will look nice.
The road to the bad place is paved with many good intentions...as I conscientiously hosed the pollen off my car year in and out.
so slowly the hard water minerals built up plus my water is acidic. Not very bright of me.

broke down and got some Turkey Hill ice cream on sale. Black cherry and no sugar added vanilla.
I like to add a teaspoon of the latter to a mug of coffee.

If you can get the bottom of the V's down in the gutter but still have room for the lower gutter run you'll likely be good. The only issue is that those cables can not touch or make contact with the other run.

check, when Toronto does snow removal now it is always dump trucks. I don't know when they shut down the snow melters they had. Back in the '80s I worked a 450 John Deere dozer (open station) as a sidewalk plow for the City through a contractor. It was fun, I had a ball and made some good money too.
