Phil, is your water acidic like mine?
I'm on town supplied water. Supposed to be tested regularly. I've had everything tested from the water to the house power grounds. Nobody can figure out why 3 out of 8 houses on this street have this issue.

My brother had to thaw dad's well line, where it goes from pump into the ground. Keep a heat lamp on it below 28deg, but it froze yesterday.

Got to 29 deg today, tomorrow will finally get above freezing. Hopefully only the high teens tonight. Both geo systems have caught up and should stay caught up for the upcoming week. 48 by midweek.

I surely remember living in Maine, many many years ago. First year I had built my house, i didn’t have well yet. Ran a poly pipe from parents house, more the 500ft as I recall. Insulated, heat tape, whatever, still froze numerous times. Luckily, I was still single, so minimal impact. $12500 mortgage, basically what it cost me to build, but gosh I still remember some months that mortgage payment was a struggle.

The dump and town run went off without a hitch. The PO has finally got around to sending me the mail that they didn't deliver while they were on strike. So I paid all the bills that came in and some more on the oil credit for next season. I found an extra 5 grand that I had forgotten about. That came in handy for the bill payments. The credit union I deal with used to take x dollars out of my account to pay my taxes with. 4.5 years ago they stopped doing that and I had them take $100.oo/month out of the checking account and deposit it into a savings account and it wasn't accessible through online banking. I had forgotten all about it. Then I paid the taxes out of the general account. About $600.oo every 6 months. If I had remembered about that account then there would be peanuts in it now. So I am kinda happy that I forgot about it.

When I was at scout camp near Bangor, the water lines ran on top of the ground. Too rocky to bury them, and I guess they just drain them at the end of the year.
