38 going to 72.

Thanks, Thomas.

BEF, last time you did the Crozet tunnel...this time did you do the Goshen train run? Which did you like better? I want to take our granddaughter on the Christmas train when she get's old enough to appreciate it. We're still doing Di$h.

Mowed with the zero turn yesterday for a couple of hours, even though it was dry, and too windy. Funny, I've trained myself how to mow in the wind when it comes from the west, which is typical in the summer, but made lots of wrong turns into it yesterday since it was straight north, and gusty at times.

Took Della hiking to the river just before sunset while it was warm enough to enjoy her shaking off on me. Lots of acorns and squirrels.

good morning all
Ron great dove pic, that could be your partridge in a pear tree...

slept well but wound up with sore neck, put heating pad on it and that helps.
plus my back was talking to me this morning.
I think my body wants out of this little space and into a better bed.

worked on my last grocery list, will have enough to get me through next Thursday.
Fridge started to smell, dug around, wonder what died...the onions, the onions at the very bottom had sprouted and were stinky. In the trash they went, they never got used, since I didn't cook as much due to the heat.
Haven't been in a Winn Dixie in a long time.

asked my brother to turn heat up in house this weekend, get any dampness out.
I also asked him to start my volvo and I am not sure the battery has lasted.
Maybe. Bet that car is filthy sitting there for two months.

I had a lot of things to do to get ready for this trip and a lot of things to do when I get home. Including that new garden shed being delivered week after next. Neighbor said my lawn crew was over working on the new shed foundation, sure hope they did it right.

my unhappy neighbor was committed last week by his ex wife, not sure if he will be home when I get there. Thank goodness I blocked his email. In a drunken rage he burned his daughter's clothes in front lawn. That was final straw for ex wife who still controls his destiny through their kids. Want to see your children? go get help.
reasonable request after he burned kid's clothes...
local police had told him next time they were called to his house he was going to jail.
So he chose the institution. He's been there before.

At 21 I saw my mother wearing a leather football helmet going through DT's in a "rubber room". The irony is I think my neighbor is in the same place now, over in Chalfont. So I have a lot of empathy for him.
But I've made it through this life without anyone ever telling me to go Futz myself, much less seven times, but I can forgive that.
his crowing about how effective his cat is, with both mice and my birds, that
will be difficult. Anyone who takes pleasure in killing these little birds is sick.
Question is what to do with these folks...hope he goes back on psych meds.

I mentally compartmentalized this issue but it's waiting for me when I get home.
as well as an enormous amount of yard work. Which I"m looking forward to.

but first, time for breakfast on the tiny barrier island of Pensacola Beach, before I head North. 62 degrees going up to 78 here as cold front has passed.
that aviation museum alone is worth making the trip to this part of the world.
Electrical contractor next to me is from five hours away in Georgia.
This is their "beach". I prefer the ocean but this is very nice and safe for little kids.

Good Morning
39°, clear sky and a high of 70 forecast for today.

Yesterday was similar. Sprinklers are working overtime, trying to get the new grass to spout. Supposed to be in the 70’s for the next week, so I’m hopeful.
I got everything accomplished in the old folk home, the only remaining task is to make up the cables and connect the AV receivers, but that might wait until there is furniture in there. There are jack plates in the wall to connect them to, so it’s not much of a project.
Here’s the pictures of what it looks like now-

Cleaners are coming this morning to give it a good dusting and wash all the floors. I swept it all, but it should have a good cleaning.

After I get them started, I’ll load up all the propane tanks and take them to get filled. Then maybe cut and split some firewood. I still haven’t had a fire in the fireplace. Maybe go fly the little plane out to lunch, maybe just clean up some of the messes that I’ve made everywhere while I’ve been focused on the old folks home. It will take a little while to adjust to the project being complete.

staying near the Black Warrior River tonight in Alabama, a primary tributary of the Tombigbee River which flows to the East. There is a small museum there I hope I can get to, though you can see pics of "mound life" inside online.

The Black Warrior River is named after Chief Tushkalusa. The name “Tushkalusa” originates from the Choctaw words “tushka” which means warrior and “lusa” which means “black”.Jul 29, 2024

good morning, 38 going to 70 sunny and getting warmer

put together the firewood cart and started to use it saving the shoulder

Mostly, yes Sapporo was host to the 1972 winter olympic. It is a relative new city by Japanese standards and now at 2 million. Hokkaido the Northern island was mostly inhabited indigenous people and people from the South Island starter to move there in the mid 1800's. Interesting that it has straight and wide streets as opposed to the old towns down south

Good Morning,
Ct, 37 to start going to 70 maybe ! Another beautiful sunny fall day !

Paul, beautifully done, thanks for all the pictures! I would be itching to get in there !

Wow, lots of well educated people on here ! I went a similar route to Ron ! I did have some college but ultimately decided on the trades. Served an 8000 hour tool room machinist apprenticeship ! Got into automated paper handling with another company and then finally landed a job as a model maker with Pitney Bowes ! Eventually promoted to master model maker ! Spent over 36 years in the trade. The economy turned sour on 2008 and by then I had enough of working inside and since I had previous experience driving trucks for the FD I got my Hazmat Endorsement and started commercial driving. I still do 1 day a week, mostly to get out of the house !

Hope all that are sick are improving and hope all have a great day ! 🙏

Good morning, the low is 44 and going to a high of 64°F. Wind SSW 3 mph. Sunny!

I may go outside today and find one of my engine pulling chains that needs a new hook. I've got the hook, just a matter of putting it on. It has been waiting for a hook for about 10 years.

Popgadget, the old folks home looks amazing!

Ron, nice shot of the Dove.

Have a safe day all

Started low 40s and heavy dew on the grass. Just a little haze/fog along the tree line.
Too wet to start the day outside.
Going up to low 70s and sunshine until Wednesday at least.
My favorite time of year.
Play nice.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 78F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

The new digs look very cozy, Paul. Just in time to settle in for a long winter's nap.

Got the tube and tire replaced on one of the e-bikes yesterday, but got stumped trying to remove the rear wheel. It seems there's a gear mechanism in the rear hub that is controlled by a cable, and the cable routing prevents that end of the axle from coming out of the dropout. I wasn't able to find anything on the bike online, so filled out a form on the manufacturer's website asking for help. Tires for my bike showed up late yesterday, so I'll get them on today. That bike was converted with a powered front hub, so who knows what issues I'll find with it. Bottom line, though, is if you get a flat on one of these things, you can pretty much forget about doing anything more than patching the tube until you get it back to a workshop.

PG&E is cutting power off to people near the home up north, but hasn't at the house yet. Still have to get through the rest of the day before the Red Flag Warnings are dropped, though.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend...
