David, our veteran son went through the same frustrations with claims for old injury in South Korea and was rejected and appealed and appealed to no avail.
He finally found a specialized attorney that files the claim in the proper format and follows up until it is settled and approved. They charge a portion of the back pay from first filed so no money involved on his part. He ended up with a lump sum for payments back to first filed after the attorney took their pay and is currently receiving monthly payments.

If you want to contact them it is Jan Dils Attorneys at Law, Parkersburg WV, JanDils.com or 877..JanDils

Thanks Frits, my sympathies to your son, they make it unbelievably difficult. Hopefully he was able to get documentation.
I’m in a weird place in that unless I can get to 50% min rating, there is little to no benefit due to being retired military. They call it “offset” but really a penalty.
I might end up the accredited rep route, so thanks.

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 4.6C and it's presently 19.8C, partly cloudy with an occasional breeze.

Yesterday's 'town run' went well and I did get some puttering done.

Which means that there isn't a heck of a lot on for today. I'm not lazy... I'm savouring the moment. ;)

That's about it, take care all.

I am at 6500 feet. His home is at 7800 feet.
air is getting thinner and I was breathing harder
first pic is one of the local Fourteens. A group of mountains all over 14,000 feet tall, the tallest mountains in the US, though just nudged out by Mt Whitney in CA.
  1. Mount Whitney. Locations: California. Elevation: 14,505 feet.
  2. Mount Elbert. Location: Colorado. Elevation: 14,440 feet.
  3. Mount Massive. Location: Colorado. Elevation: 14,428 feet.
  4. Mount Harvard. Location: Colorado. Elevation: 14,421 feet.

though they are all towered over by Denali in Alaska
Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet (6,190 m) above sea level. It is the tallest mountain in the world from base-to-peak on land,

but no matter how big you are, well...
there are a dozen mountains in South America all over 23,000 feet tall

/ Good morning!!!! #197,488
Good evening all. light wind, clear sky, and high temp was 89ºF. Group dinner and finish catch up were the rest of the day's activites.
Resuming Tuesday morning 6:13 AM CDT post 197,451:
Drew It is frustrating how much sugar gets added to most process foods. I buy unsweetened applesauce, plenty sweet on it's own.
Drew drinking too much regular coffee is counterproductive, caffeine starts removing water faster than you can take it in.
Frits I do better staying off sugar as well.
Scott(vt) hope winter prep goes well, and you can get pickup to dump and offload the party leftovers.
Drew nice dream catchers.
Billy glad you are getting caught up on rain. Thanks for tip on TP. Glad just minor problem easily corrected with coffee roaster. Glad you coffee roasting making happy wife.
Engineer started out with both sugar and cream as young teenager, straight black by time off to college.
Ken glad lawn aerated, and some mowing done. Hope you can inflate tire today.
Don hope PT went well. Do the recycle the old battery if you send it back? Sorry about all the bad batteries.
Dennis is that the Mackinac Bridge? big bridge!
Buppies sorry wife had such a bad day, hope you did not hurt hand. more prayers sent.
Ted thanks trip was good, got home yesterday afternoon. Sorry it's so dry. Even if he had parking permit still have to buy the gas.
Dennis yes small cabin. Nice pics
Dennis turtles cant decide which way to go.
Dennis cool pic of Erie canal and old locks.
David hope dinner went better than last time. Hope you made progress with VA. Hope freezer repair went well.
Bill hope Kioti repair is successful.
Drew glad you got some pics before too much wind. They do have to figure out it was you who shot that paint ball :) Love the pics
Don glad your pool water temp hanging in there. Panic buying is so silly, during Covid, bought years supply when I found it, made wife happy. Hope the sister of Igor is good with tool of torture.
Bill hope new thermostat helps the overheating. In the areas that I lived in straight pipes would run afoul of noise regulations.
Phil hope you are getting vehicles fixed and leaves under control. Pretty ornament :)
David Hope you can get your record straighten out. Wonder what melted plastic? Is freezer working? Hope Lobster there and good :)
Frits sorry son had to go through that. Glad layer worked out.
Dennis is that on Ohio river?
Dennis good pic of Soo Locks.
Dennis pic with 2 little falls in back of pic. Neat beach
Randy(wag) Glad you got enough done you can relax today.
Dennis cool pics.
Drew no wonder you are breathing hard, getting a lot less oxygen at those altitudes. Nice pics and mountain recap.

Good morning, the low is 50 and going to a high of 63°F. Wind S 9 mph. Mix of sun and cloud. Summer is over.

For the past 5 years I have only been drinking coffee whenever someone buys me one, or with bacon and eggs breakfast. I drink it black, just like my parents did. It doesn't matter to me whether it is 'American, Canadian, Espresso or Cuban' coffee, it all goes down black. Zero sugar. To me Cuban coffee and Espresso are the same thing, just the nationality of the person making it changes. When I did make coffee for myself it was French dark roast ground on the Turkish grind (super fine) and cooked in a 1 quart French Press. When I did want cream and sugar in it I put in 1/2 oz of Baileys and 1/2 oz of Kahlua.

Tomorrow is grocery day in North Bay. I think today I will pull the conveyor out and get it running and turn the wood pile again.

BEF, were you a photographer in a former life?

Have a safe day all

good morning all from Salida CO.
a brisk 44 degrees out and the rv floor is cold vs hot like it has been.
heading downtown this morning to get friend's car out of shop, then we head to his favorite beanery for breakfast. Will be interesting to see local spots.

my nice cherry table in rv keeps falling apart, really, so that is job number one today.
The center section holding the two trestle legs together holds together by sliding joints and the pins keep falling out. I need to put very small brackets in hinge area to prevent movement. Something black and small to blend in. I could just glue it all but that would mean it could never come apart. Can't imagine why someone would need to take table out of rv but? Otherwise love the table, sadly didn't realize laptop feet were putting fine scratches in one area, now a place mat goes under the laptop. Perhaps if someone with good woodworking skills could eyeball it, I think it needs some fine steel wool, maybe 600 grit.

5am in the Rocky Mountains and way up there too. My stepbrother made a wonderful swedish meatball dinner for me last night, his Swedish wife made the meatballs and they were small, firm and delicious, but different. They are almost totally vegan so making meatballs was something nice wife made before she went off hiking in UK, 180 mile route, with her two late 40 something sons, at her age 75. Strong woman...
I think salmon is on dinner menu.

they have an enormous Swedish wood stove in center of house, need to take pic of,
something doubt any of you have seen often, huge soapstone stove that rises vertically and he said five logs heats house for almost two days. They have two favorite chairs set up in front of it, where they read together, and logs lay around. All good. Just need to get permission to take pics of inside of house.

I drove way out of the way to get here, and glad I did. This is a nice area, touristy for sure. Southern Colorado coming up here? Not so attractive and very poor looking with fields of junk machinery everywhere. Of course I love boneyards but likely the chamber of commerce doesn't.

Buckeye is a very good photographer, I'm a hack, but volume does have rewards.
and no one does sand cranes like Ron. And where are they?

Good Morning
59° and overcast, going to partly cloudy and middle70’s if the forecast is accurate.

Yesterday was yet another busy day, before the sun was up, I was out changing the bucket on the excavator. In an effort to get the concrete contractor out earlier to put in a patio and front walk, I told him he wouldn’t have to move his excavator, he could use the one here. As it turned out they didn’t get here until after lunch, and then only to measure what I wanted them to do. They are going to prep form it up on Friday, and then pour on Monday.
The cedar siding did get completed on one side. and the gutters and downspouts are on.
The way that the addition tied into the original roof, made for some interesting gutter work.
IMG_5429.jpg

I got the French cleats installed to hang the mirror frame in the bathroom, now have to take the frame and get a mirror cut and installed in it.
Hopefully today the cedar will get finished on the other side, the painters are coming back today, they were on an outside job the last couple days, taking advantage of the weather.

All of my woodwork is stained and sanding sealed, now needs a quick sand and urethane. Then lastly the walls get finished.

I’ll be working on the AV wiring today, I printed up heat shrink labels for all the speaker wires, I’ll install them and strip and terminate the cables.

RC club meeting this evening, I’ll charge something up to bring to the field and fly before the meeting. Other than that, I’ll play it by ear.

good morning, 53 going to 74 and finally no rain

Taking wife for her monthly infusion today

beautiful gutter work, just letting water find its own level.
Frits, put a smile on your wife's face today
Popgadget, I've got this old Radio Shack wire stripper, I could come over, sometime, to show you how to do those speakers wires. Make sure you wrap them around the electrical wires every few feet. ;)

/ Good morning!!!! #197,498
I just gazed in awe at my stepbrother's home yesterday, which I will ask permission to take inside pics of today, particularly that stove. When you do it yourself you fuss with everything to get it just right. My stepbrother is as or more exacting than Popgadget.
Custom spiral staircases, heavy pegged beam construction. Building this house wrecked his back btw. His son got a degree in construction engineering just to help out with this house. It was a long time coming.

He is a high end machinist whose shop I will also see today. To find out why his handle is BugattiDoc
He mortgaged his old home and bought a 250k Amilcar circa 1930 maybe, race car. Unique, rare, he fixed it up and sold it for 685k. And used that money to build his home. A dream come true. He is quiet and humble.
and he wants to live on his 70 acres in utter privacy and quiet down a long dirt road.
a whole family of tiny chipmunks lives in the stone wall below his deck.
lets' just say it's really nice there. And now, as everyone does, he bemoans all the new construction. Which is why if you have land and good sight lines, you can just tune out the rest of the world.

hope Plowhog is doing ok.

Good Morning,
Ct, 55 to start going to 72 ! Cloudy overcast skies this morning, cig the sun breaks through it should warm up if not we won’t see 72 !

BEF and Drew, great pics ! Thankyou !
Drew, really looking forward to see that Swedish wood stove. I have the Hearthstone Heritage soapstone stove in Vermont and we love it !

Perhaps if someone with good woodworking skills could eyeball it, I think it needs some fine steel wool, maybe 600 grit.
Drew, actually you do know a few people on the east coast that could help you with that ! 😉😀

Bill, glad you got your tractor straightened out !

Work today so better get going !
Hope all have a good day ! 🙏
