LS mystery remains ☹️ got about half hour work before going into limp mode, then it seemed like it took half the morning to limp back to tractorshed. Frustrating. Passed info to tech.

Did get more mowing done with BX.

Coffee has finished brewing. 49° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 59° with mix of sun, clouds and brisk winds out of NW. Cleaned clothes dryer vent. Then replaced furnace humidifier pad. Did compete cleanup of laundry room. Helped neighbor go pick up a load of topsoil. Today will attend a birthday breakfast party for a neighbor who is turning 65 today.
Fresh seed cake put out.

My father owned one as well, but it was red. Tough old trucks. Got about 2mpg I think, lol. Sounded good tho.
Mine had a Holley 4 bbl. Ya fuel mileage sucked, but it was cheap. $0.499/Gallon here, then. Mine had a 391 gasser and wouldn't pull the skin off a peach. But it hauled gravel all day every day of the week except for Sundays.

Good morning, the low is 45 and that is the high for today. Wind N 16 gusting to 24 mph. Rain.

Yesterday at about 7:30 A.M. the orange and white TomKAT went out. It wasn't raining. I let him back in at 9:30, he was drenched. You would swear that he went swimming. The rain was coming down in buckets.

These cats have us trained. When all three go out one will come in during daylight and get some treats. If there is another cat hanging around then it gets a few (a lot less than the one that came in). Then a second cat will come in and it gets treats and the first one will get a few, then the third cat comes in and gets his treats and the first two if they are hanging around get a few more. IF they go out a second time that day they get nothing. Treats only one time in a day. They are all four of them spoiled rotten.

Today is a conserve energy day, just like most rainy days.

Have a safe day all

good morning all
48 in Keystone SD going up to mid 70s
electric heat on in rv, 71 and comfortable

not enough power to pull the skin off a peach
that's a good one Bill, never heard that before.
Sounds like poor David's tractor...

coffee's done, lots of things going on today, should have good pics later on.
The roads that all go to the next campground about ten miles away all say
closed in winter. Campground shuts down end of this month, perfect time to get deep in the Black Hills.

headed to Lynne's Dakotamart in Custer SD this morning after visiting Mt Rushmore.
Did street view on Google and figured out they had a big parking lot in back where I can park. Need to stock up, next shopping in about a week.
actually before food shopping going to very comprehensive Indian museum here.

next stop is a two day, time to relax and not drive for a day.

62 outside this AM, heading to lower 70's.

Zero accomplished yesterday. Managed to make it to Home Depot and get some wood for framing a soon to be built cabinet and window trim. While we were out, stopped by and got an ice cream as our favorite spot has days left before winter closing.

What happened to summer? Where did the year go?

Hope all have a great weekend. Be safe.

That is really nice cherry wood Phil. I've cut slabs of Oak and Madrone but with miserable success. Most crack badly over the 2 years of drying. A few oak slabs are salvageable but the madrone is a real mess.

55F going to 90F today. Today is flood irrigation day which is good because I need a break. Been working on Rigby's new fence and the body is complaining that it needs a day off.

Everyone have a great day !!!

Good Morning,
Ct, 57 to start going to 71. Overcast this morning with a front coming through sometime around 5 ! That is not good news for our last concert of the year at the FD ! The band that is scheduled to play is the Bernadette’s , and they are very good ! Hoping somehow for a good outcome for the concert that starts at 6 but it’s not looking good !

They are all four of them spoiled rotten.
Yes we have 2 of those cats also Bill ! 😉

Drew, sounds like some interesting and scenic places your visiting out there ! Enjoy !

Mike, we were just talking about where did summer go as we packed up our belongings yesterday at the beach house we were renting! I will try and keep the pool open another two weeks so we can use our hot tub which is built in next to it !

Managed to get the grass cut here yesterday afternoon, after unpacking the truck ! I was really beat after all of that but we still went out to a local restaurant with friends last night !

We will see what the afternoon weather brings, I’m quietly optimistic!

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

good morning, 63 going to 71

Nice day yesterday. Cleaned up some on a scrap wood pile and found some old barn hardware and hinges. Not sure what I will use it for.
Mowed the big field with pretty tall grass. Raised the hight to 4 inches to reduce clippings.
Still enjoying the forest helmet.

A question on your LS.
If I remember correctly after you did a manual regen it worked good for awhile, did you try another regen when it acted up this last time.
Is there a "test" port on the exhaust system before the DPF? Some tractors have a small plug in the exhaust that can be removed to temporarily get by a plugged DPF.

Oh, it still will be peeking its hot head out down here in a while. He's warming up the Northwest USA right now.

rip, I hope you can get as much peripheral stuff done to uncomplicate things while looking for a new job, and hope you can find a good job too in your search.

We had a "Cool Front" pass through. WOO HOO. 67F outside here right now. So not much temp change but drier air.

Son's Freshman football team had a tough game Thursday. They played as hard as I've ever seen them play. My son plays running back on O, and outside linebacker on D. Also plays on all the kicking special teams. so basically, he never gets a down off. He played hard, was so tired at the end of the game. He was battered, bruised and totally worn out. Then the coach relented that they just got beat by a combined Junior Varsity team and not a true freshman team. They had some huge kids on the other team. Oak tree kids. Especially the linemen. Son was mad about it. Usually, when the opponents don't have enough kids to field a team, they play Up to the next level with the combined frosh and JV players. But I suppose our coach let them play down to our frosh. We lost 28-18 after a hard fight. But redemption came last night as our varsity beat the other team's varsity 40-7.

Some old friends that used to be our neighbors are dropping by today. Should be good.

I had mentioned that my LX5 Deere shredder was bad about shearing the shear bolts. They would last anywhere from 10 minutes to maybe 3 hours. It uses 3/8 or really 10mm bolts. They fit loosy goosy with too much slop which is why they shear. I've gone up to grade 8 and they still snap. I decided I would drill it out up to 7/16" which is only about .040" bigger than 10mm. I got schooled. Someone had mentioned somewhere how I was going to drill through the hardened PTO shaft?...It was HARD. High speed steel didn't stand a chance. Also realized my brother had taken my dad's old heavy duty drill back and I had to do it with my 19v cordless... So after work hardening the pto shaft further by dulling 2 drills and maybe getting .025" deep just opening it up those .040", I started searching my tooling. I had 2 reamers and they just dulled trying to cut through. Even the sides of the reamer flutes just dulled back, ruining the reamers. I dug further and found a carbide tipped 7/16 drill and that made it through it but it did not have enough side contact flute to keep it straight in the hole. Cylindricity suffered. It veered off centerline maybe .005 or so. So I can now get the grade 5 bolts through the hole by hammering them. I wanted a very close fit, but not this tight. I might have to order a 7/16 carbide fluted reamer on ebay to get the hole straighted out. Part of me is wondering why I didn't just go to 1/2" diameter. I could have used a long reach ball nosed endmill to push through it.That will be the next step if this doesn't fix the problem. I was just trying to preserve as much integrity of the pto shaft so 7/16 was the next step. There is a PTO clutch which works and will slip if it hits something.

Waiting for the dew to dry just a bit to go try the new shear bolt situation.

Hope all have a blessed day. Prayers for our team, our nation, for peace in Ukraine and ******.
