Good Morning,
Vt,53 to start going to mid 70’s ! Beautiful blue skies with sun and a nice breeze !

David, wow finally, great news ! That is some tall grass !

Drew, that Massey was sharp, I would have a hard time getting rid of that tractor ! Looks like you had a finish mower on for the picture ! I love Red also ! Red house in Ct and Vt, Red truck, Red tractor Massey 1040, Wheel Horse , two Red Toro mowers, Red Barn ! 😂 You get the idea ! 😉

Don, glad your getting a slight break on the heat !

Plowhog, sorry about the low energy, but great news on Rigby !

Company coming in at around supper time, so will be grilling some steaks and corn, along with some baked potatoes!

I did a mow job yesterday but grass was a bit wet, so I have a bunch of clumps out there ! 😒
So if it dries out good today may run over it again later ! The Toro ZT up here is only 16 hp , not like my new one which is 22hp. 6 hp does make a difference!

Time to get going, hope all have a great Friday ! 🙏

Morning all, 61 going to 81 and sunny.

Got another gallon of anti-freeze into the solar loop and seems to be working fine. So when they installed the boiler and filled the loop, they were a almost a gallon short before they pressurized it.

Got some watering done and some more stuff put away. Seems one of my sons friends turned up the cold on the apartment refrigerator and some cans exploded. Always something to fix or cleanup.

Drew- in New Orleans during the weekdays a guy shows up on Bourbon street with a tow behind barrel smoker. All the shopkeepers come out. Best BBQ/food we had there. I don't remember what day he shows up though. Even gives you a slice of white bread :)

Got a nice bag of figs to my neighbor, her kids were nice and chatty.

Today, off for x-rays to see why the bone in my arm keeps trying to escape.

Be well,

Think we're surrounded

Drew the best Mexican food in Giddings would be at Taqueria Chihuahua (large parking lot, truckers eat here) and you have to try the best donuts in Texas - Shipley Do-nuts.

as you can see I'm not going to be hungry this trip...
I'd like real Tex Mex food, so as long as they don't use chihuahuas in the food... ;)

just picked up couple dozen ears of corn, picked this morning at Maximucks farm nearby.
One dozen goes to friends tonight who have invited me for dinner, and four ears for the neighbors across
the street. And two for me.

Maybe I'll get a lolli-pop if I'm a good little boy?
you can surely wish but instead you will be tortured for a long time and then
be given an eye watering bill. have a wonderful day...

Good morning! Low of 55°, heading to 88°. The rain chances didn't materialize yesterday, then they took the higher chances out of the forecast until tomorrow. Then good chances for 4 days....
We'll see if something gets squeezed out....

Took the trimmer out yesterday for a short walk. I think I might have caught some form of what the wifey had a couple weeks ago. Just blah feeling. Similar to Plowhog, short on energy, runs out real quick!

Need to do the grocery shopping today, that alone will probably wear me out.

David, fingers crossed that the issue is found! You definitely had it under load. How fast does that grass grow?

Drew is inspiring me to plan a long RV trip next year. I don't think it would be 2 months long though... but, so many places to see....

Ken, thanks for posting the Philly skyline. Brings back tons of memories. I probably wouldn't recognize the area any more. All "filled in"....

Paul, nice progress on the addition. All top notch! You found some good contractors for sure!

RNG, have a safe trip back down south. Getting close to the finish line?

I hope everyone has a great day and start to the weekend!

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 7:30AM and back in Orcutt. Partly cloudy skies. High around 70F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.
After so many years not seeing a dentist I sit here like a death row inmate about to meet his fate.
Should be just a simple dental procedure but after more than a decade without I'm fixating on previous work and pain.
Maybe I'll get a lolli-pop if I'm a good little boy?
I'll be in the same place on Monday. It had been more than 15 years since my last cleaning when I went in a couple weeks ago. Dentist was surprised at how little plaque she found. But on Monday it's a deep cleaning of the roots, and replacing a couple fillings. White knuckle time, as the epinephrine makes my heart palpitate so I try to avoid the shots.

RNG, have a safe trip back down south. Getting close to the finish line?
Hard to tell, Ted. Both the furnace in the attic and the deep well pump controller need work. I'm a bit out of my depth in both cases and will have to lean on some tech support to figure out a repair. And I seem to find things to add to the ToDo list faster than I'm crossing them off.

Another smooth trip yesterday. Switched off the traction control to get up the gravel drive and didn't break traction once. The ton of firewood in the back I think helped instead of hurt. And not pulling a trailer was a big help, too.

There was supposed to be another launch at Vandenberg just after midnight, but it was delayed to tonight. Instead I got woke up by a Watch Duty alert for a new wildfire start about 40 miles southeast of here. This morning it's at 85 acres with no containment.

Got a bit of unpacking and organizing in the house to do this morning, then get a start unloading the firewood this afternoon. The low temps will be a big help with that, but I'll let my back tell me when enough is enough.

TGIF gang!

Talking about corn..... out here there is NONE this year! I was waiting and waiting for it to show up.
Apparently, the rains we had early in the season was too much for the crop.
Really? We live in the high desert... never knew you could water a plant too much out here....

We stopped at a roadside stand up in Colorado last week. They wanted $16 a dozen! No way were we going to pay that! --- but it was in Pagosa Springs, a real tourist trap.

No fresh corn this year.....

spent morning trying to figure out son's ER visit bills. What a rip off. Apparently ER doctor and the CT scanning (radiology) people are all 3rd party, and they bill in addition to the hospital, but seem to include same items as each other. Dr was there about 5 minutes to put in stitches, billed over $3200. I'm expecting separate bills from each nurse, and the lady at the front desk any day now....... Wonder if the custodian bills separate also, you know to clean the place.... Anyways, the DR who billed separate, did not go thru insurance. They took the money that my auto insurance paid and they said they "retired the bill". This means they probably got more than they should have. Trying to decide to leave well enough alone, or have them go thru insurance.
Still trying to decide if hospital bill for CT scans is same as the radiology bill for CT scans. seems they both want to bill for the same thing also. United health seems to think they are separate, but why?

Going into town with my wife, then make a run to an orchard in PA.

70°F Ang 1.3 inches rain. Our hurricane is coming in.
Forecast is we may see 10 inches.

That will put a damper on things outside. I do need to resupply Diesel. Glad I got that work in yesterday.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

We have caught them double charging before and had everything go back to the insurance company to sort that out.
We just asked them to go through it and give us detail on each item, and like magic a few disappeared.

Xrays show no bone movement.
But the pain is coming from where one of the 2 screws are located.
So do I deal with the pain and hope no more soft tissue damage, or see the bone dr. to have the screws that have been in the bone for 15 years removed.......

Stay safe David/Sodamo 10+ of rain is quite a bit...

On the way to Philly along the waterfront they have been knocking down the old factories and putting up a massive amount of apartments. Goes on for a mile or two and very dense.

I am through Philly every few weeks and it's changing quite a bit between trips!

Good news on the tractor David. Who would have thunk.
Food in TX sounds good to me. Just had a burrito bowl from chipotle.
Told my wife, when you pay for hair cut, do you get separate bill from the salon for use of the chair, mirror and AC? Just like the hospital bill.

BEF, the same could be used for getting a service done on your car. Garages would go out of business if that happened.

David, do you know what the hurricane said to the coconut tree?

Hang onto your nuts honey, this aint no ordinary blow job.
Stay safe buddy.

76F and sunny @ 13:15, heading up to around 80F for the day's high. Low this morning was 52.5F.

Unloaded items from van, parts washer and bracket moved up to the shop, cart set in front of garage (until I can clear some space to move it inside) and pipe unloaded on to a pallet:

IMG_3398 copy.jpg

After that I headed back over to pick up that large metal frame. It was heavy and getting it loaded in the van was a PITA due its length. I'm sure getting it out will be a real treat. Also grabbed some rubber floor mats which I had forgotten about.

Got mowing the front yard after I got back, got that all done.

Then started down here around the house. Got the back all mowed and some of the west side done.

Enough to scatter some seed on the ground for ground feeders and refill the hopper feeder. Still need to refill the suet feeder.

Picked a good sized zucchini.

Refueled the Stihl FS 66 and took it over the (trans)planting strip for forsythias and started cutting down the weeds ... which had gotten away from me and were over 4' tall. Got from the southern end up to the telephone cut down, which is probably about 1/3 of the entire length. Probably do some more on that this evening once the sun gets low enough for the area to be in shade.

Checked the live trap and it was empty, suspect the bait has been cleaned out and it did not trip. Need to check that today and re-bait it and make sure it will trip. May have to modify the trip rod to make it a little shorter.

Have one bill to schedule for payment today.

Probably run the soaker hoses in the garden and collect whatever veggies are ready.

Woman has decreed that we should get rid of the strip of grass in between the flower bed and garden and maybe put the raised beds in that location. Can't argue with that, since it reduces the amount of grass that has to be mowed.

Top off fluids in the Kubota and see if I can't make that rescreen pile disappear before it gets any hotter.

This coming week summer temps will be back ... with a vengeance:

Screen Shot 2024-08-23 at 13.58.47.png

Going to be looking for a lot of jobs in the shade.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)

warming up outside, got the garden all weeded and trimmed, couple of small wagon loads of junk.
took some water out to the pussywillow tree so it doesn't throw a fit this time when I leave...

RS, that's some serious pipe. Remind us what you are going to do with it? Could support a building.

time for a rest/nap.

Mowed around the house for a couple of hours and ran into the groundhog that was not able to outrun the ZT. Not much left of the poor thing but at least it went quick
