Good morning, the low is 66 and going to a high of 88°F. No wind. Heat warning in effect.

I got a quack appointment this morning. Gonna get him to sign off on the unemployment form so I can collect from the end of August 'till November. Then I can go on regular benefits until next May.

Ron, if you give that tree rat about 3 more months his drum sticks should be a little bit bigger. Hopefully.

Should be back here about noon, then we will see what I get into, if anything.

Have a good day all

Good Morning,
Vt, 66 to start going to 84 or so with clear skies and humidity!

Got a little done out in the wood shop yesterday, band sawed a couple patterns for the rockers and rough cut some lumber for the back legs on the rockers I’m building!

Todays plans are some more puttering out in the shop and after the grass finally dries to mow the grass ! Then maybe a late afternoon boat ride down on the lake.

Don that fountain looks very cool ! Love the loins head !

Hope all have a nice start to August ! 🙏

oh happy days
envelope comes from State of NC, sending me a 710 dollar check for
most likely an overpay of some tax when I sold the farm, got sick and moved to PA.
So I can understand the why, they didn't explain the "for what".
sure deposited just fine.
one for the home team

need to go out and water before it gets warmer
soon as that sun comes out, temps zoom up

I might wash the rv this morning. Something to procrastinate/delay cleaning the house...
but it will get so hot this afternoon no chance of being out there.

drink lots of water

it was absolutely miserable with the heat and humidity ...
I sympathize with those who have to deal with humidity.

65F going to 100F today. A little humidity today, enough for a threat of thunderstorms, but not like the midwest.

Since Rigby is/was small I built a temporary fence on the lawn to keep him away from foxtails. Pvc pipe and plastic netting only 2 feet tall. In the background of the pix.

Yesterday, he jumped it. Cleared it easily without even a running start. Then off he went running through the garden with my wife chasing. Dang I need a taller fence!

Everyone have a great day !!!

Good morning! Yep, August is here with a vengeance after a mild July and by mild I mean just a few hundred days. 74˚F heading to the upper 90s and a heat advisory of HI getting to 107. Yesterday was 97˚ AND hazzy (off-white sky instead of blue) because of the Sahara Dust that traveled a long distance jut to irritate us. The dust has no smell but causes breathing problems for those susceptible so a warning advisory was in effect. The haze just feels oppressive. An evening swim was pleasantly needed and enjoyed.

Still a little sore from the tree dig and replacing some brick pavers yesterday so I won't be starting any new projects today, just cleaning the garage from yesterday's projects. No rain in the 10 day forecast, just 97 to 100˚ days, truly the dog days of August are among us.

hope that Sahara dust gets stuck in the mountains before it gets here...

wonderful dog pic Plowhog
dog and his stick, always needs a good gnaw
is he old enough to play fetch? Looks like a good stick for that
he's got his stick and he's one happy dog

hope they can fix it Dennis, plenty of tread left.

went out and picked veggies, found more beans than I thought so
they are for dinner tonight. Plus two poblanos that were not happy and I want to chop up
and put in a chili

sitting here with fan on high trying to stop sweating

inside from now on
washing the rv will only make it rain tomorrow
which hoping we will get

8' high chain link with another 2' buried so he can't dig underneath. ;)
Found leak in the tire. Not where I thought it was yesterday. Near edge, so they probably will refuse to plug.

Put a boot on the inside and plug it anyway.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 6:50AM back here in Orcutt, CA. Foggy this morning, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 76F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

hard to believe some fool lit a car on fire, for whatever reason, and sent it down in a gully and set the whole area on fire.
Day before yesterday, the Butte County District Attorney held a press conference to discuss the Park Fire arsonist. His department had developed a pretty detailed time line. In a nutshell, the guy had been drinking heavily, got his car high centered and stuck at the top of a ravine, put it in neutral, then pushed it to get unstuck. Somewhere in there it caught on fire, so when the car ran away from him before he could get back in it, it didn't stop until it got to the heavily wooded bottom of the gully. I'm not at all defending the idiot, but there doesn't seem to be any malicious intent on the arsonist's part. Just an extra large helping of stupidity. But since this will be his third strike, he will hopefully die in custody.

The nice thing about an RV, Drew, is you can just drive away from the smoke and fires. August, September, and October are peak fire season in California, so we've still got a long way to go before we can count on any rain for help.

Smooth trip down the highway yesterday. Hardly noticed the half ton of firewood in the back, so could probably carry two pallets. But that depends on how much work it is to wheelbarrow it into the back yard and stack it. At least I won't get fried while I'm working.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

September, and October are peak fire season in California,

hmmm, guess I'd better make room for my office hepa air cleaner, pack that in somewhere.
if I get into smoke I think any exhaust fan is a bad idea; I want to keep the air inside clean, so button it up
and run the air cleaner. I'm much less worried about smell than I am particulates.
I wish this truck had a dash filter, pretty sure it doesn't.

and sometimes you can run but you can't hide...

for fun, I have an Israeli Army nuclear rated gas mask. With two cartridges, old as they are.
I'll be all set for Area 51. I'm expecting Ted to have a few strange friends there in NM, all wearing tin foil hats.
and if it's some kind of solstice, all the looney toons will come out

nice Plymouth, just think how thick that steel was

Stopped and picked up my 2 monthly Meds at the local pharmacy, that only charges me $1.75. I was getting the same at CVS for over $30 for 3 months worth. so I get yet another email from United telling me I should change to CVS because I could save money......... This is fraud attempt, they know what i'm paying.

went to check on spares for office air filtration and all gone.
So ordered four more, they are five stage hepa 13
going to put the fairly lightweight air purifier on rv passenger seat
and plug it in to baby car inverter I have that plugs into 12V dash receptacle.
The air purifier only draws 30 watts and I have 200 max so this should work fine.
I think I'll bring some spares. I don't mind "more" if it's lightweight, which this is.

Back from the quacks. He lowered the cholesterol dope by half. 40mg instead of 80. He is happy with the A1C numbers and the fact that I have been taking less than was originally prescribed. Wants to see me in 4 months for that AND a appointment for the drivers license in September. That will co$t me. The unemployment paperwork cost me $20.oo. O.H.I.P. doesn't pay them anymore to do the forms, so they stick 'it' to the patient.
BP was 135/55.

BEF, real nice Plymouth, my Dad had two of them. Both 4 doors, I stole them both. Flat head 6 and 3 on the tree. Stole his 50 Dodge, too.

Anything that creates heat should be put on the floor. Car/motor home seats can and do catch fire easily.

83F and partly cloudy @ 12:15, calling for a high of around 90F for the day.

DP 72F, HU 67%, "feels like" temp = 92F.

Likelihood of additional precip is only 15% until evening ... but a stray shower or thunderstorm is still possible. Around 19:00 chances start going up, until they reach 54% by 21:00.

I'd take it ...

Woman just walked back into the house with an armful of what looks to be medium hot peppers. Says She plans on making stuffed peppers ... (y)

Probably some more out there to be harvested but I'm not doing it in the sun, will wait a couple of hours when it clouds up a little more.

Young neighbor who was down here last night to cut down the tree mentioned that he had dropped off a couple loads of wood chips for me if I wanted them, otherwise he would haul them over to Grandma's property next door where he lives.

Had been wondering about that, told him that we could absolutely find a use for it.

Thinking that might a good project for today: clean out that planting bed just east of the garden where we planted all those hosta and rhododendrons a few years ago and start mulching it.

I sprayed around the edges of it the other day, don't think it has ever been mulched.

East side needs mowed might get to that at some point, ground should be moist enough that there won't be a lot of dust.

Otherwise, see what else comes up.

Hope everyone has a decent Thursday ... (y)
