home sweet home
easy drive, no big traffic jams
thought I would have to mow when i got home but not tall enough
but there surely will be a pile of tomatoes waiting for me.
and one nice pattipan squash, my favorites because they
look like little space ships

Think I’ll wait till next week to give the grass a haircut.
Replaced a couple AirTag batteries.
Got .13” rain sometime last night.
Beautiful day out. Been sitting on porch enjoying the weather.
Talked to HVAC company about fixing the geo unit, they are sending a guy Monday to look at it. Actually one of our friends who work there. His wife is the one who we get to feed our cats when we are away.
Hummingbird flying right in front of me, then 2 others chased it away.

Scott_vt; I am 6'4" and 250 lbs. Junior is 6'1" and 220 lbs. We both sound the same on the phone and look more or less the same too. Long gray hair and beards. As for crooks, there are a lot of them in town, but there is easier pickins in town than out here.

I was going to cut the grass today, but I think it will wait until tomorrow when the wind is up a little better. 15 mph winds tomorrow only 5 mph today.
Most of the bugs cannot fly in the higher winds.

This is one of 4 cracked knots in an outside door. For those experienced in repairing wood, what product should be used to fill them in. Thanks.

I've had good success for many years with Durham's Rock Hard Water putty. No shrinking and easy to work with. It's a powder that is water activated. I've used it to fill woodpecker holes in cedar trim boards. It takes solid stain and paint.

Yesterday's post that never got posted:

77F and cloudy @ 13:15, calling for a high of 79F with a 30% chance of showers. High yesterday was 86F ... cold front came in and cooled things down, humidity will drop this afternoon.

Woman was out watering first thing yesterday ... so of course that pretty much guaranteed that it would rain. Another fairly short deluge ... dumped 0.35" total.

Got bucket/grapple/toothbar rework finished up finally. Was going to deliver it but still had stuff in the van so that didn't fly so instead they came over just after noon and picked it up.

After I finished up the bucket etc. I did some "therapeutic" compost screening and got most of the compost/woodlot mowed.

Today:

81F and partly cloudy @ 14:45, that should be the high for the day.

Got hopper, both tube feeders, and one suet feeder refilled yesterday. Also scattered some seeds for the ground feeders.

Then went back to work on screening more compost, got the screened compost pile replenished to where it was at its largest point.

Used the debris that wouldn't pass through the screen to cover the weeds growing on the side of the unscreened pile.

Pile of unscreened material substantially reduced ... but there's still a lot there.

Lawn should be due to be mowed again but can probably hold off at least another day. Need to go have a look at it and see.

Winds are pretty low today and tomorrow so might be a good time to get more spraying done.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)

I am becoming an expert in retirement.
Never put off 'til tomorrow what you can do the next day. :ROFLMAO:
I am finding myself doing quite well at that.
Then I'll get days like the last couple my Nephew on the farm has had a run of bad luck with equipment, his bat wing mower blew a u joint yoke on the shaft through the wing gear box, his JD round baler broke the big tube that controls the belt tension and bale tightness.
They got things apart with just a small amount of help by me and a bunch of parts chasing, the brush hog shaft was close to $500 to buy, found the correct yoke after cutting the old yoke off the shaft, ended up with a new old stock for $45 instead of $70-$90 for a new 1 1/2" round bore yoke for 35 series u joint which should be here in a few days. Then we will weld that on the old shaft. Did a run this afternoon to pickup the new friction disc's for the slip clutchs on the bat wing.
Then spent some time yesterday looking a piece of tubing or pipe to slip fit inside the JD tube got a piece of sch 80 3" pipe coming for that and then this evening I just ordered a foot of 4" OD 1/4" tubing to replace the broken end of the tube that we are going to sleeving internally with the pipe.
Now my stuff I just keep putting off, should mow the lawn but it's not to bad yet, need to get the sprayer out to spray weeds but I need to unload the sxs to put it in. And should order a few loads of gravel for the driveway, but it can wait a bit.

My HVAC guy came today instead of Monday and agreed my geo needs new TXV. He said be prepared.
They will price it up. He said some are made for easier changeout, but not mine.
EcoFlow came, that I ordered on prime day. A big UPS (pure sine wave) with solar charger. Also can outlet charge, or 12v car charger cord.
Grilled burgers for supper.

Too close to sunset to try to charge

I'm paying an installer instead of doing it myself. Ever pay $2,500 for a battery? I'm buying two of them ... ahhhh.

Nope, but I did pay $2900 plus tax each. Bought 15 of them SimpliPhi 3.8

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low was a balmy 11.2C and it's presently 15.8C, somewhat overcast with a bit of a breeze. I'm pretty sure that it's Winter even though the weather these past few days said otherwise.

Mind you, Winter is supposed to return tonight & throughout next week.

Yesterday's 'tip' stop was shocking as the price for a 40ltr bin went up, on 1 July, to A$8! The Council Bloke did help me lift & dump my bin without my asking for any help. I don't get 'curbside' garbage pick-up.

The PO had another 'wine faery' case waiting for me! I then swung by the Hardware Store and got a 1ltr tin of the proper wood stain. Once I returned home I did apply the stain to the door, and a few other areas that needed it.

Today I think that I'll apply a second coat of stain.

That's about it, take care all.
we all should join the procrastinators club, tomorrow.
I'm exhausted. I got so much procrastinating done this past week, I think I'll take a nap.

Don, do you care if it matches perfectly? There is stuff out there that will outlast the rest of the door, but it may not take stain exactly like the wood.

.....And it does harden like a rock! With this stuff, you "paint" a grain with the stain and just let it dry. No wiping.
This was the best I found for outdoor repairs

Don’t know about Don’s door but this is a great product. I’ve seen my Canadian friend, Dave do some amazing things with it at the cottage both on wood and Hardi panel.

Sophie had a good Dr visit, but I’m sorta scratching my head.
Her eye pressure was up a tad and he looked, examined for an extended time. Commented that he had a very similar case in another office ( has at least 3) where the patient was on the same meds and the tear healed completely. I think he may be a bit reluctant to rush the surgery. Scheduled her for another appointment next week, Fri before her scheduled surgery. Could be interesting.
