Good morning!!!!

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 1.6C and it's presently 12.1C, partly cloudy & calm.

Received a return call from the Liming contractor last evening... so, at least he hasn't forgotten about us and we're 'in the queue'. At least he gave me a cost for the lime (A$65 per ton), which should be delivered early next week. He wasn't sure on the day that he'd perform the liming, saying Wed-Fri. Fortunately I don't have anything really planned so I can be available to guide him to the other properties to be done & open/shut gates for him.

I've got that meeting with my Minister @ 1330, then I may take a trip out to Pyengana for some cheese. I've also got an evening meeting from 1700-2100 (supper included).

That's about it, take care all.

David, glad you found the port! Yes, they don't place it in an area easy to get to.

RS, I understand your philosophy on the soaker vs. drip. Drip can be a pain with hard water. I found some drippers that can be taken apart and cleaned.
Soaker hoses might be your best bet.
I bought a drip system years ago when we had a dry summer, never installed it, and never really needed to since. maybe now I have some time I'll dig it out of the barn and give it a try. Maybe I said...
only takes a few minutes in the evening to spray the cantalopes, tomatoes, peppers and beans. we always wait till dusk to water.

No joy with my OBD2 code reader. Did a good job showing running info, but not reading any codes.
View attachment 876307
Not should what this really means and choosing any provided no info. Proprietary?

I did exercise it to the point of repetitive stalling which I suspect is temp related rather than wire rubbing on frame.
When I worked on some car stuff a few years ago, there are standard ODB codes for certain common things (like emission stuff for shops to fix), but most of the important stuff being communicated on the CAN bus to the ECU is proprietary, and you need a system from the manufacturer to read them. But I'm not an expert.
here's some reading on the subject:

Some times the CAN bus signals can get distorted by dirt or connector issues. Not sure what the tractor ECU is connected to but maybe cleaning connectors could help? Just an idea.

john deere CAN bus issue: This deals with resistor used to terminate the CAN bus, normally two 120 ohm in parallel, or 60 ohm on each (Low and High) if one goes bad, CAN bus can't communicate as signal echo's back down the BUS distorting the signal.

think i'd start by just cleaning all connectors to the ECU, you never know....

another good discussion.

more good reading:

Thanks, Dennis
I don't know how indepth the CAN network is on a tractor, is it just 1 primary ECU, and CAN just to interface via OBD. THe DEERE video implies a network, which means multiple ECU's, and the possibility for attachments to also get connected via CAN, such as sprayers etc..
On Cars there are many ECU's like for brakes, signals, throttle, engine control, emission, etc.... that all communicate with each other, at least to the master.

Near as I can tell, the LS has a single ECU with multiple sensors
Sadly, can’t find a lot of info.
My friend, John (pilot friend) recommended Perplexity as a nice AI query app. I was impressed. Then I clicked on the footnotes and found it was referencing my TBN posts.

Good evening all. 71ºF for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Light wind, sky clouded up, and high temp was 88ºF, HI 92ºF. Made coffee to start day, Men's Meeting, putter, change oil in SUV and put new sticker in windshield. Had wrong filter so had to make extra trip to replace it. Coffee has finished brewing. 68° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 87° with afternoon thunderstorms. Got enough rain to last night to make everything wet. Had good time celebrating my BD yesterday. Grocery shopping this morning. Then when grass dries will mow it.
Play time.

good morning all
up early, busy morning
rv goes to truck shop this morning to get front wheels/tires swapped side to side and balanced, plus
lubing front suspension and doing a PA inspection.
since the new leveling jack showed up yesterday, going to see if they are willing to put it on.
lot easier when rv is up in the air.
so looks like entire morning sitting in unairconditioned truck repair office. yuk
94 this afternoon.

fun time going swimming at my friend's community pool, was a salt water pool and lovely.
interesting the breakdown of the salt apparently automatically creates chlorine or something like it.
a chemist needs to better explain that.

great squirrel pic Ron.

good luck with valves RS.

Mostly, we'll chat before I get there. October 6 hopefully. You live near water, that's always good for me.
Texas is my next work in progress, confirming where to stay and for how long.

72F partly cloudy day low 90's for high, chance of nasty t storms early evening for the first day of summer.

Plans for today...8 hours at part store afterwards little as possible because of heat.

Enjoy your day all.

66 outside this AM. Another day in the 90's. We are pretty dry and things look like that - dry. I managed to spend some hours on the ZTR yesterday and in the pool. Set a new pool record, hopped in four times in one day. The sun was beating me yesterday so the pool helped out a lot. Today I need to finish up around the houses and entrance way with the push mower and do the walk of shame with the weed whacker. Sort of not looking forward to that, will need to pace myself.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe. Hydrate yourselves accordingly.

Good morning,
74° now dew point 69° a bit soupy outside!
High’s in mid/upper 90’s with thunder storms late afternoon.
Only 94 days until autumn lol.

Did a little bit of weeding yesterday but had to keep retreating to ac and by noon gave up on outside stuff, this weather takes its toll on my lungs pretty fast nowadays. Did manage a dump run in the afternoon.

Only plans for today, watering garden and picking up groceries.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Good Morning,
Ct, 66 to start going to low 90’s !

We did get a walk in yesterday morning, but by the afternoon it was really too hot to do much of anything! Mostly spent the afternoon in the pool. Two of the grands came over about 3:30 with my youngest son. They had a ball, and stayed for supper made by Nana ! Probably the same plan today , but I need to get to BJ’s later this morning to pick up the supplies for our second concert at the Fire Department!

I’m sure Kathleen will find something else for me to do before it gets too hot ! We watered her garden last night before it got dark along with all her flowers!

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 4:00AM. Partly cloudy. High 93F. Winds light and variable.
NWS has issued a Heat Advisory for 100F + temperatures on Saturday. If all goes according to plan, I'll be in the mountains seeking relief.

Glad you got the LS to fail repeatably, David. Hopefully the company will do the right thing by you.

Sorted through a couple dozen inquiries on the office trailer yesterday morning, responding to a double hand full to put their money where their mouth is. Then got an email from the Craig's List ad from a fellow that lives right across the canyon. He showed up a half hour later and left a deposit. Should be here today to haul it off. I thought I had a long commute for my move, but he's moving up here from San Diego!

Then later in the day got a bite on the bluing tank setup, and another fella went home with it in the afternoon. He's attending gunsmithing courses at Lassen College in Susanville, CA, and has a bluing course set up for later in the summer.

Had one nibble on the firewood ad, but it was in Spanish and was deleted.

In between I disconnected the rotary phase converter on the back porch and started disassembling the parts. Got a friend to help lower the heavy 3 phase pony motor to the ground late in the day. Gonna be fun getting it up the stairs into the mezzanine at the new place. Still have to disconnect and take down the 240VAC line from the main breaker box in the garage, then get the milling machine onto a pallet, so that's the focus for today.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

   / Good morning!!!! #192,137
Good morning, the low is 70 and only going to 77°F. I can handle that. Wind N 6 mph. 60% chance of showers.

I turned on the poor mans A/C yesterday, it helped.
A fan in the kitchen sucks the cooler air up from the basement and a fan in between the rest of the house and the kitchen blows the air towards my cave. A fan in my cave moves the cooler air around.
I keep the bathroom window cracked about 1" (no exhaust fan), so that helps some.

These 90° temps are a bit early, normally we don't get them until late July and August.

I have a ride coming to get me at 11 for an 11:15 appointment with my family doctor that I haven't seen in 5 years. I told the receptionist it was a follow up to my hospital visit in May. No lie, just not 100% of the truth. Total cost for my hospital visit was $45.oo for the meat wagon ride.

Maybe I can get the quack to sign off on the DL medical so I can get my license back. I'm not holding my breath there.

That is my day mapped out.

Nice shot of the tree rats playing, Ron.

Have a safe day all

Plowhog, maybe this might help.;)
Very good-- I need his special skill to expand the fuel line going to the generator!

LS, glad to hear your genny is running and I hope it keeps you in power until the utility comes back on!

I'm at our ranch in CA-- going to 80F today but very hot after that.

This is Rigby's first time here. He sleeps in a crate overnight, then I am up at 4 to let him out. A few minutes ago, I carried him from the back door to his fenced backyard pen. Within 2-3 minutes after taking him into the pen and lawn, an adult fox ran up to the other side of the wire fence fabric and was looking at him and me. I lit up the fox with my flashlight and it ran away. The fox was probably 20 feet away-- I was standing with Rigby holding the flashlight but thank goodness for the wire fabric.

I looked at our cameras afterward, replayed what happened, and the fox was near the barn, then came running to the pen. Obviously it was attracted by hearing us, or seeing the flashlight sweeping around outside the pen.

Back to Nevada later today. When I return here, I'll have enough new LED lights to light up his pen like a football stadium at night.

Hope everyone has a great day !!!!

Good Morning
74° gonna top 90 again. Still no rain.

Yesterday was a mixed bag. Started cleaning up a area in the shop to put the rest of the alpaca wares that are in the garage, as they have to go so they can work on the framing, and I’m putting a boiler room in there, so they can’t come back.
Got Zoe to the Groomer successfully, it’s interesting having a puppy brain in a body that big and strong. They said she was good for them, but she sure was happy to see me and get out of there when I picked her up.

A good friend that’s a retired airline pilot (medical retirement) just got a third class medical, so he can fly as a private pilot, he called me to see if I would give him a flight review so he would be legal to fly with new medical certificate.
I told him that I’d be honored to do it, even in the stinkin’ heat.
As I expected his skills were top notch and we had a good time.

Of course, my iPhone fell out of my pocket in his plane, so I had to fly my little plane to his airport to retrieve it. That killed the rest of the day except for watering the concrete and sod.

Today started with moving hay before it got too hot, then watering the concrete and sod.

IMG_4540.jpg

Today will be more cleanup and alpaca ware moving, but probably a leisurely day.
