Drew, there is much to see and do in TX you could spend a whole winter there And not touch much. The Alamo and River Walk in San Antonio would be on my list. They are across the street from each other. You do not need to take walk the River Walk. They have boat rides.
Of course the best part of TX is the TBN members on the GM crew.

Good Morning,
Vt, 39 to start going to 48 ! Rain showers last night, some clearing later today ! Looks like some cooler weather moving in tonite and tomorrow!

Dennis , sorry to hear about the house being bull dozed ! Very sad to see history disappear!

The battery chain saw is sure handy for small quick jobs so I'll probably do more small jobs quicker and not let them pile up
TBS, Kathleen bought me a small hand held unit, it’s really handy for trimming small branches and such ! That saw is in Ct, could have used it this weekend in Vt !

What your elevation VT. home?
We are 1310'.
GM Thomas, we are about 1200 ft, maybe a bit under that. There is one mountain not far from here that someone built a house on up here it sits at about 2200 ft, that I have taken the Polaris Ranger up there a few times ! The weather up there is so severe that no one can live there during the winter ! They built a concrete silo there about 50 ft high out of concrete, the wind blows so hard there that it blew the stucco off of the west and south west sides ! But the views are spectacular !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

Happy St Patrick's Day! No snakes.

49, cloudy going to 69.

BEF, sorry the grandfathers place was destroyed. I know you would like to have preserved it.

Ron, another great sunrise!

Phil, I see why your wife said wow.

RNG, sounds like you are getting closer to completion on the move.

Buppies, as Tar Heels, we didn't think the game was so good. :(

Did some tractor maintenance yesterday...changed the hydraulic filter...lost twice as much fluid as last time when I parked it on an incline with the filter pointing skyward. This time I parked it level. I've heard about using a shop vac to retain the fluid...think BEF did that...but didn't take time to research. Well, it got 4 liters of fresh SUDT2 (priced like liquid gold).

Had just enough fluid left to do the needed front axle case fluid change. But it was stubborn settling in...started running out the check plug hole before the needed capacity was added...so I let it sit overnight, and will resume the pour today.

One of the places I camped on top of the mountain is named Pig Farm...I guess the little creek just down the side a few hundred feet had originally been dammed and used to run some hogs way back by early settlers.

Buppies, here's a couple pix of Roanoke for you from Pig Farm.

Good morning, 52 already going to high of 58 nice day

Walked Cody and working the step counter.

Slow day yesterday. Got up in the barn and lost track of time and wife could not reach me. Poor cell service inside the barn. She was on the way to check on me with her wheel chair. Very sorry and apologized
Barn is outside the normal range of Wi-Fi. It is maybe 500 ft away. The steel siding may hinder the normal cell signal.

Interesting how the old barns were made as in this detail showing how the hay feeding rack was attached to the post. No nail or screws and pegged into the post to support the rack.

2 morning headlines show a world gone crazy.

Illegal immigrant accused of killing police officer set free because he didn't understand the Miranda Rights given to him in English.

Texas grandmother thrown in jail after criticizing local government.

Good Morning.
Started at 47°, it’s up to 51 and the high will only be in the middle 50’s. Partly cloudy and breezy.
Yesterday was a nice day as well.
I couldn’t stand it, I had to put the snow plow away. Now I have ruts to fix :(.

IMG_3986.jpg

Ground seemed dry enough when I walked it….

My luck continued when I went to fill the tractor with fuel. Removed the nozzle, flipped the switch, and…. nothing.
It’s a 12v pump powered by a battery in the shed on a battery tender, so I figured the battery died. Went and got the load tester and jump pack. Nope- the battery was fine. The pump is largely sealed, as you would expect, but there is access to the switch. Tested that, power going to motor leads. Motor is sealed, so that’s that. Checked with TSC, they had a new pump in stock, just shy of $500. I was ready to go get it when the cheapskate in me kicked in. Went back to the pump,
IMG_3987.jpg

And removed the cover over the pump gears (it’s a gear pump) and manually rotated the gear on the motor shaft. Put the cover back on and flipped the switch. Like Dr Frankenstein’s monster “it’s alive!”
Filled the tractor and a couple of cans, then tha tank ran out. Getting a delivery tomorrow. $3.25 for off road diesel.

Decided to call a friend and take the little plane to Reading for lunch. Had a good lunch, and headed back to the shop.

Got the mower deck put back on the Progressive.
IMG_3985.jpg

The rear deck with the stainless patches is the one that vacationed in the shop for the last couple months. It’s nice having some space to work in the shop with that deck and the snow plow gone.

Today I hope to get some finish on the speakers, not much else planned.

Morning all, 56 going to 60 and partly cloudy.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The Keswick theatre night out did not disappoint. Judge Reinhold seemed to be having fun during the on stage interview and had some fun insights into the movie.

Bed pickup went without a hitch, guy showed up with son and the bed fit in his pickup truck no problem.

Planted a few radish plants to be early since the weather looks so mild. A few tomato plants are sprouting inside.

Sad to hear BEF about the house, hard to let go, memories stay though.

My FIL house , stone from the late 1700's is still being redone. A lot of friends asked why we didn't take it over, but the cost to bring it back to livable was probably over $200,000 and then it would need to be re-roofed, floors and walls fixed/repaired.
The new owner did not tear it down, for that we are grateful, but he is in over his head on a 4 year build out and has changed quite a bit to lower costs, like a more modern roof and windows.

Be well,

Drew, only TX shore camping we did was South Padre Island. Some great camping. But 300 miles south of San Antonio. Corpus Cristi. May be a better choice. 150 miles.
The beaches are nicer south of Galveston. Around Rockport, Port Aransas on down to South Padre. But any of them will be pretty chilly in October.

I've heard a lot of good about those too! Take care in that weather. Hope you get some sunshine.
