Helogabals,
I am not used to cold weather. I walked outside without jacket, and it was high humid wind blowing. I got a chill and looked at thermometer. 59F I'm a cold wimp. It has been nearly freezing almost every morning here.

Nice pic's y'all. Popgadget I loved the Philly lights. Turkeys, birds, big homes, frozen ice rinks, snow plows... It's like a tour around the world. I'll bet Wagtail has some scenery where he lives. Hint hint!

do any of them have a scope?
red dot pointer?
gps guided bullets? ;)

for target practice something small is fine
most of this stuff seems to be a buck a bullet or more

30-06 is $1.60+ for cheap stuff these days… premium is almost $2.50/round 🤬
Funny thing I went to 2 different gun stores this past week. We have coyotes, and I bought some 00 buck (double ought). I wanted some #4 buck, but they didn't have it. 5 rounds for $12.79 + tax. Ouch. Good thing we hope to not use them often.
Then I was teaching my son to clean shotguns. I have 3 shotguns. All Remington. (not rich here). An 1100 bought new in '82, an 870 Tournament grade Trap model (given to me by my Grand pa) At least 50 years old. And an 1187 semi auto (given to me by my FIL about 20 years ago). Anyway, they all needed cleaned and lubed. I ran out of Hoppes #9, went to local gun store and they were out. She said she had trouble getting it the last time she ordered, but she checked and she could order it now. Since they were out I bought some aerosol "Gun Scrubber" for $9.99 + tax.

All shotguns are cleaned and lubed. 2 are loaded and ready.

Also bought a cleaning rod and tips for the .17 HMR. Skinny little thing. Have to be careful with it.

Drew, years ago I purchased a Ruger Model 77 , 22-250. I used to buy Hornady ammunition at a local Walmart for $12 for a box of 20 ! Fast forward to today, Walmart doesnt even sell ammo anymore ! This was really good ammo 45 gr or more, I wouldnt want to know what this stuff even cost now !!
The rifle my daughter shot her nice buck with was a .300 Ultra Mag. The rounds cost $5 each. This is a very nice white tail buck for Texas. It was shot maybe 10 miles from the border of Mexico. Her aim was perfect, he just fell over. Mostly, this is the one in your prayer list. Thank you. She needs to get motivated to go to college.

.22 is the only thing left that is "cheap" to shoot. IMO.

30 outside right now, grey, overcast, blah.... upper 40's expected.

Not much on the agenda for today. More planning and paper work.

Eldest bought another camper, looks to be heading out, westward again, with the National Park Service, sometime in the next few months.

A bit of good news for the family. She looks to be recovering well.

Hope all have a great day. I hope it dries up around here, we had a lot of rain with that last storm. From nothing to a gully washer.
Prayers.

exactly.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 20.5C and it's presently down to 17.7C, overcast with rain, calm with wind increasing later. There was 3.0mm in the gauge @ 0900.

Very sad news regarding my other neighbours (behind me but not the ones that I have Christmas lunch with); they lost their only child [son, 15yo] on Saturday. He took his own life. A couple of other neighbour's tried to inform me on Sunday morning but I was at Church. Bugger.
Condolences for neighbor's son. Social media has kids so wound up these days. Bullying, girls flaunting. Boys flaunting. Just a guess it was possibly related to social media at this age.

TxDon, I can still "hobble" around on a tennis court, but I can't chase a ball that is drilled over 10 feet away. So I can see the allure of pickle ball with smaller courts. Hope you enjoy it.

Went to church today. It was good.

Prayers for our team, especially those with health needs.

Just a quick note to let you know I am alive. Yesterday had dinner at cousin's house he just moved back from Idaho. Today was Celebration of life for out Saint Louis friends, whole bunch of people showed, I am very tired. Tomorrow morning hoping weather guessers have it correct and no nasty travel weather. :) Weather last two days was near freezing temps, overcast sky, and occasional drizzle.

Good morning !

Official station at RIX airport (I live like 5 mi from there) has registered -27,x C It makes -17 F

Dog still refuses to come indoors. And wont give up his evening walks. We both are back like this
IMG_6359.jpeg

One thing is different - he eats a lot now. We keep his bowl full. It's ok as he is not obese.

Other than that - now here we restart at full. Previous week was like joke. Half of companies was closed or worked partially. Schools was at holidays etc

Just a quick note to let you know I am alive.
That's (y)
Keep it that way !

16° now, highs today low/mid 30’s, sunny with NW winds 10-15 mph and gusts around 25 mph.

Snow didn’t end until 10:30 pm yesterday, looks to be about 14” total. Cleanup starts when daylight gets here and I’ve had enough coffee, that’s the only thing planned for today.

Prayers for all in need
Stay safe and healthy

Wagtail,
Prayers for you, the young man, his family and friends. It is so very sad when someone so young feels that‘s their only option.

good morning all
14 inches of snow, that's a lot to clean up
I struggled with my one inch...;)

Mostly, I'm sure you are exhausted from these trips. Take it slow, remember the love.

43 and sunny today. Almost 8 inches of rain predicted over next week here.
Whooeeee, that's a lot of snow for up North and maybe some here

I inherited three children in my second marriage. Got along wonderfully with all of them.
Youngest one used to jump in my arms when I got home from work.
And at age 19 still at home in the house I left, over in Mercerville NJ, he OD'd on some drug in his bed room.
This was many years after I saw him last, still leaves a hole in my heart.

when we were little we were told to be careful with knives and sharp things, that finger or eye won't grow back.
today with street drugs, you really never know what you are getting. Russian Roulette.

stay safe out there, stay vertical in the snow.

Coffee is brewing. 31° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with continued cloudy skies. Snow that fell in morning. Melted in afternoon. Got tires swapped between tractors. Remembered to drill hole for step. Back to working on install of mower lift mechanism on new tractor today. Lot of cleanup of the parts.
Look who stopped by to pose for a photo. Is this a sign of future weather conditions?

Mostly, have a safe trip back home.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

Morning all!
22 here with around a foot of fallen snow. Like NHBX I will head out for final cleanup after numerous cups of coffee. I went out around 5 last night and did some cleanup. Glad I did as it was getting heavy and hard to push. After opening things up on the cul-de-sac I switched over to my bucket so I could scrape down better. The town truck showed up to do the street and was just spinning their wheels!
Can't believe they don't chain up for these events!
Grabbed a pic around lunch time yesterday. I will attach it to the post.
Need to go to the apartment and get that cleaned up. Will use the riding mower with snow blower on front. After that head to the neighbor to clean up his mess.
Should pretty much keep me out of trouble for the day!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

just can't justify real snow tires here. My Goodyears are snowflake rated and score well in light snow, but definitely are
not Michelin X-Ice or the Scandinavian one you can't pronounce the name of.
:ROFLMAO:

Nokian Hakkapeliitta.
or
Gislaved
If you pronounce that wrong you might summon some viking demon :ROFLMAO:

Both are really great WINTER tires

Meantime we have a lot of tires which are made to perform at 250 kmh at +5C. German things :) Like Continetal, Pirelli etc

I am driving with Michelin, wife's car has Kumho, daughter's Golf have Dunlop

Really sad story, Daugen

2 1/2 inches of rain tomorrow, more on Friday, then temps really drop, cold weather for most of us,
and next time it rains, it won't. Snow in forecast.

if all this rain tomorrow stays rain further North, there is going to be serious flooding.
Will melt snow on ground and combo will be too much. It if is snow, well I'd hop a plane to the Bahamas....

Good morning, the low is 19 and it is going to warm up to 23°F. Wind NW 2 mph. 30% chance of flurries.
IF the weatherman can be believed, then I will be plowing on Wednesday. The winter storm watch is still happening.

So that is my mission for today, watch for a storm.;)

If she is out hunting, she is probably not a good fit for most colleges today… trade school/apprenticeship may be the better option?

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

23.0F going into upper 30s, clear day today.
unlike some we only got a shake of dandruff yesterday. Seems that the accumulating snow started about 30 miles NE of here.

yesterday was iffy enough with the weather that we changed our post-church plans to go to lunch in the Big City at the Scottish pub and stayed local, since our destination was where the snowy driving began. Went to Japanese instead. Harvested another 6-1/4 gallonsnof tree juice, currently sitting on the woodstove slowly evaporating.

today is back to work to find out what fresh hell the company software engineers will unleash upon us to supposedly make our lives “easier”. . .

And now, coffee…

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Welcome to the GM thread, plowhog.
Thank you to all. 12F as of 4am Pacific. High yesterday was 32F.

Hoping to try a new-to-us shotgun soon. Gave my wife a Ithaca 37 featherlight pump shotgun at Christmas. (20ga) It ejects shells down, not to the side. She is left handed and other side-eject guns whizzed shells in front of her face.

Looked for years, then found a 1972 model that looks near new.

We don't hunt. Just like to shoot for fun. Good morning all.

Good morning! 56˚F good chance of light rain today as low pressure moves closer.

Hospice, our 19 year old cat inherited from Mom, has an appointment with the vet this morning to get a vaccination so he can be boarded when we go on vacation. His health is stable so we don't want to get him on any drugs that might jeopardize his balance of health. He has gained several pounds and his fur has grown out and he actually plays with a ball in the mornings. He is allowed on the couch but only on the cushions that have a cover.
