28°F and cloudy this morning, getting up to 38° today.

I started feeling better a few days ago, but the Wife's progress has been a bit slower. She's still fighting the coughing.

Three day weekend is over now. Back to work tomorrow, and "the long drought" before the next holiday, which is Memorial Day at the end of May.

Happy New Year, gents.
I'm still coughing after 3 weeks. Energy level maybe up to 80% Hope y'all get better.

You are right about the holiday drought period from Jan 1 to Memorial day for blue collar workers. Now that I'm in Academia, we get MLK day (instead of President's Day), and we get 1 day off during Spring Break. We just got the week off between Dec 25 and Jan 1.

Great thing you and your wife did you are to be honored and thanked.
You don't have to answer, but have any wanted to search out their birth parents? It is none of my business. I can't imagine the life changes You and your wife had to go thru to raise 9 children. I have a buddy who was the oldest of 9 kids (not adopted). His dad had a valve on the hot water heater, that if any kid took too long in the shower, he would cut it off. Also similar action for the 1 landline phone they had. The long cord connection was in the hall. He would unplug it if daughter was on phone too long in her bedroom. The things you have to do to manage 9 kids is so different than what I'm used to.

Kyle, everybody seems to be having that lingering cough. Thought I was the only one.
Wife & I sick with whatever it is for a month today! Both went to hospital, checked everything, RSV, Covid, flu, pneumonia, etc. all negative, sent us home. Wife got worse so hospital put dye in vein & MRI showed she had pneumonia. Sent her home with antibiotics which fouled up her blood sugar (type 2 diabetic 23 years). No more Levaquin antibiotics and she's much better (70%?)...I'm about 90%.
I need my cook back!

Good morning !
Time to wake up, back to business ! 😁

-14 C = 6 F
Yesterday went to gas station, washed wife's car, left overnight at new office to dry. Now she drives around in nice and shiny car
As I mention this you can understand that nothing really happens 😁

Good Evening Guys,
A nice sunset for the first day of 2024 !

Also got the front legs for the sculptured rocking chairs to the point were they are ready for turning the tapers on the lathe !
Where is Phil, when I could use him ? 😉

Hope all have a good evening! 🙏
Nice landscape ! As i am living in "flat" country, any mountains catch my eye

After uni (I graduated as woodworking engineer) I spent 3 years in chair factory. I am sure, chairs are more complex type of furniture to make.

Now I am supplying equipment for furniture makers (not only, but mainly).

For my new office I bought chairs we were part of production start-up. Set-up CNC, program development, etc. Not gonna lie there was few times I thought we can't make that chair as designer wants to see them
But I am proud about result. Check this:

That Idea about valve on hot water... I found something there 😁
We have 3 daughters and 2 sons, twins, all our own.
Oldest is out of home already, second is rather fast in shower but youngest daughter can spend hour there... 😅
Boys have opposite problem. Often they has to be sent back to shower
Ok, they are 10. Once will rise interest about girls, I hope they will improve

Coffee is done brewing. 28° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 37° with partly cloudy skies this morning. There were no peeks of sun yesterday. Had a very nice luncheon at neighbors. Took a meal to neighbor that fell. Was asleep and did not get to see her. No plans today. May be time to do some exercise on recumbent bike.

good morning all
another quiet day here in Eastern PA. No plans for today other than cleaning lady coming this morning.
1/2/24
need to remember the year...................

got all the xmas lights taken down yesterday and put away neatly, hopefully to work again next year.
bedroom was darker last night without the background lights winking on and off
neighbor across street has already complained she misses them.
I think anything short of the Burning Man on my front lawn would disappoint her. ;)

I think I'll work on this desk this morning.
would like to take a pic of the new speakers to send to a friend but what a mess.
so.....like so many of us who want to take a pic in our workshops, but have to clean up the background first...
everything goes off the desk and finds a new home.

until I get in the one into four USB gizmo, won't know if the Klipsch speakers have any future on my desk.
if they don't contribute, out they go. But I am really curious to see what the blended sound of the hyper accurate
KEF speakers will be to the smoother warmer horn speakers.

hi fi stereo has been a hobby or interest of mine since I was just out of college. Lafayette and Allied catalogs were my favorites.
used to design my own speakers using their parts, only in my imagination.
Versus Popgadget who really does build speakers from scratch

if you remember the drum beat on Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground, that wacka wacka in the beginning, when I opened my Radio Shack and had a stereo
corner, that song was playing. Even today I use that song to test speakers. And bad ear or not, I crank it up.
pros discuss sibiliants, attack time and decay, I just enjoy seeing if it sounds "real".
though admittedly I'm not a loud concert person, never have been, so I like the instruments and vocals.
Crank up Adele on a good system and you can really make the neighborhood dogs howl.
She has one song known to do that.

no question to me the KEF speakers sound more "real"
they were the cheapest speakers in that line and trickle down tech brings the value.
when you go larger and pay a lot more, you generally get better sound stage and more volume output.
I don't need that, speakers are three feet from my head in the preferred equilateral triangle mode.

a good project to screw around with over the winter

I think Bill has a good stereo system, like to hear more about that.
anyone with tube amps?

most of us have a two car garage
Frits had a nine car garage, filled with all models and colors
Requirement for ownership was a huge heart
And a good job and hard work to pay for them all
Varying maintenance on all models, some in the shop a lot

all invaluable

There are givers and takers in this world.
Frits and his wife exemplify the givers.

and along the way they have set good examples for others to adopt.

17° now highs in the upper 30’s west winds around 5 mph and sunny today.

The only project for today is disconnect the cable tv boxes and get them back to comcast this week. We rarely use the cable and stream most movies and sports. That will leave us with just internet and cell phones with them.

Now the holidays are over need to start sorting through the “shoe box” and gather up all the tax related stuff, one of my favorite chores (NOT).

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

32 going to only 41.

m70 or BEF, did you feel the earthquake that was in Rockville around midnight?

Helo, great looking furniture, and building interior.

Sodamo, hope you like your haircut. My wife and I have been cutting each other's hair since the lock down at the start of the C virus. Kekoa already 7 YO...times does fly.

Hope those that are sick will get well soon. Wife and I are still not 100%, but much better.

Yesterday we did a First Day hike to 2 quaint cabins in the mountains. Had snow flurries and 30F with wind all day...felt and looked like January. Had a great view while I made some hot tea and lunch. Lunch was a dehydrated Santa Fe meal of chiles, chicken, beans and rice for backpacking. Amazing how good it tastes (after they've loaded it up with salt and spices, and when you are freezing and hungry). But it was really good.
