Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

23.0F allegedly hitting 60, clouds slowly increasing.

admin running around went well, pretty much accomplished everything on the list. Need to pick up fresh fish order this morning, which is why I am on couch with the GM crew instead of sitting in the tree stand, but I have one more week before the season closes to get out there…

nothing much to report otherwise, except i am watching an ePrey auction which includes the crank cocking mechanism that fits my long-discontinued crossbow. If I win it, I also get a case, some replacement limbs NIB, and a second crossbow!

Dinner out tonight, so cook gets a day off before the Big Event(s).

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed Christmas Eve Eve!!!

Drew, these are the projects I have been working on. Only one left that I can do without help is transmission oil change. Moving mower mounts and changing tires will require help.
My neighbors Dad saw the same Ad that I saw to buy this tractor. He says the Lawnmower should be named Jim’s tractor. 🤪🤠 His wife gave him OK to buy it. 👍 But never went to look at it. 🙃

Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 21 to start going to 40 !

Ron, nice work on all the add ons!
Looks like you have been busy cleaning and waxing also ! Nice work ! I’ve owned my MF 1040 for 20 years and still haven’t gotten around to the cup holder yet ! 😂
Of course it took me 10 years or more to repair the leaking tire on my WH ! 😉
I made my former student worker a memento. I erased his name best I could. This took many hours of programming, having to figure out stuff on the new version of software. The pic doesn't do it justice. I have a short video, but I don't want to release his name.
Kyle, beautiful work on the flag ! I really miss having my machining capabilities!

Some last minute running around today and then I will prep the pork ribs over night for my neighbor ! I marinate them over night in apple juice and a little apple cider vinegar! In the morning I pull them out and do a dry rub with my special concoction ! 😉

Wngsprd, hoping your wife is feeling better soon ! 🙏

Drew, I’m following along on your stereo build ! Hoping everything goes together well with no issues !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

so far so good, stand went together well
disappointed pc will not stand up on bottom shelf, one inch too tall.
This is a stand built to hold a turntable on top, which is my expanded use on this little system.
I wanted to put the pc and ups on the bottom but unless I laid them on their side, no go.
And that would make plugging cables in more of a reach.
So pc and ups stay to left of stand but at least the wires are mostly hidden now.
Trying to keep front usb ports open and use up all the ones on back.
lots of ports, but no optical.

time to make the speaker cables. Going to take my time and tin/solder the ends and make
them look nice. That way when you poke the wire through the hole, the inevitable single strand doesn't hang up, bending away
and making you pull it all out again, etc. I've eyeballed the hardware pretty carefully, input hole pretty good sized.

need to go get my wire strippers
next pic will hopefully be a ta da.

but can't hang speakers yet no matter what until brackets come in
and until I get another usb cable I just ordered can only play one system at a time.
though I bet I have another cable here.
one I ordered was better quality, better shielding.
just don't know how any of this affects digital sound quality though shielding is always good.
do I need copper dipped in sherry basked in oak drums for six weeks?
will my sound have the right patina if I don't?

I'd love to have my favorite youtube tool tester do a test of audio cables.
start at zip cord and go up. They can make them look fancy with fancy connectors but
does it matter once you have a good clean connection? I'm using 14G speaker cable, nicely color coded
so I won't get them reversed. Been there done that.
Roll says "true spec" and "high performance" with "stranded wire" and a "soft touch jacket".
that's good, always nice to have your jacket be soft...

The finer the individual strands are in a cable, the more flexible they are. But more importantly, the more fine strands there are, the better you upper-frequency response will be, as it is almost like the high-freq signals travel along the surface of the conductor rather than through it. So, more surface area -more room for signal information. Almost like the convolutions in a human brain cortex as opposed to smooth-brain creatures.

I have been following this for a while.....
I kind of agree with the verdict, but it should have been manslaughter, not homicide. They didn't intend on harming the patient.

First, the patient was NOT in the state of "excited delirium".... the kid was autistic! It seemed as if they were going off of what the officers were saying instead of examining the patient! The patient was calmly walking along returning home from a store, until the police got him 'excited'. Excited delirium occurs without outside influence......

Second, the dosage that they gave him was too high!
Ketamine is a very extremely potent drug. I actually voiced an objection to our chief when they were implementing it on the streets. Lots and lots of room for 'error'. There is an exceptionally narrow dosage used for excited delirium ---- like 1 mg more puts it into a different class and used for a different reason (induced coma).

Third, having 2 medics there, plus other EMS responders, there should have been a check and double check on the dosage and, more importantly, the indication for use.
One of the first things I would tell a new medic was "Just because you CAN give a medication, doesn't mean you SHOULD give that med." ---- once you administer it, you can't take it back......

And fourth, there are 3 other much safer meds that could have been administered FIRST, observing the affect of the meds on the patient. There are times when you need to move / act fast, but more often, take a breath, slow down, and think about what needs to be done....

Sorry about the long post, but the outcome of the whole situation was just sad.... and avoidable.

Good morning! Low of 35°, heading to 45°. Rain, wonderful rain! Got 0.36 overnight, expecting another 1/4 to 1/2" today.

Unfortunately probably no white Christmas..... maybe a half inch tonight, rain tomorrow, but clearing by tomorrow afternoon. Oh well.

Wifey came down with a cough, she says a 'prickly tickle' is making her cough..... hope it doesn't turn into anything more. She feels ok otherwise.

Got the 3 shelves joined / glued up. 2- 8' and 1- 6'. Next step, rip them down then run them through the planer. After that --- lots and lots of sanding.....
I'll get some pics today while in process.

Mmmmm, also have to get a couple of plaques wrapped.... there's still tomorrow to do get it done, right?

Yesterday, I got two requests for some "hope chests" or trunks.... a little late now if you wanted them for Christmas..... they don't. A good project for the new year.

I think I hear some power tools calling out from the shop.... I better go calm them down.....

Everyone have a great day!

mostly cloudy but dry here until Tuesday night

light came on and music came on and it all worked.
Just sitting there...I like the old sound better. But...with the new ones up on the wall and further apart,
I'm hoping they give me the sound stage I want for movies. With both sets of speakers going, hopefully best of both.
KEF speakers come with port dampers that are removable, need to play with them but I wanted clarity out of these speakers, not deep bass.
Already have that with powered sub.

now I'll have to think about what turntable to buy but no rush. If I get one it will be fully automatic, Audio Technica and Sony make some good inexpensive turntables.
Duals are a little pricey. Typical oem cartridge in turntable chosen for price point. I'd like the better cartridge, meaning a one hundred dollar cartridge, vs the oem 30 dollar one. Prices zoom up from there but you need a better turntable usually as the cartridge cost goes up into the hundreds. I think a fully automatic Audio Technica with the "better" AT cartridge in the family of cartridges they offer. Not something I've kept up with, but honestly doesn't seem like much has changed either.

I wonder what my first record should be.

time to pick up the house. Neighbors coming for tea and sweets after lunch

Morning all, 36 going up to 46 and cloudy.
Met up with friend in town, great catching up since last time we met down here. News on some other coworkers and where they are etc. Had a plain green salad with no dressing and that worked just fine.

Then later off to son's concert, he was playing in 2 of the 4 bands. The hosts and us have a lot in common and we had a great time hanging with them while the kids jammed in the yard.

However the police showed up twice due to complaints and the sound had to be turned down. Both visits before 6:30 pm.........
Show completed without any more complaints. The hosts had put up signs, talked to the town and many of the neighbors. They are on a larger plot as they live in the original house in the area, but surrounded by neighborhoods.

We will take turns next year with them to run the concerts to take the stress off.
Their house was built in the early 1700's and their still working spring house in the 1600's

Late night, but fun,we're a little old for a rave but glad the kids acted and behaved so well. Great group of kids, not sure how many but a lot.

Today will finish wiring up the light ball and put out, just in time for Christmas.

BEF - how do you know the hatchet blade is sharp, when it cuts through the shipping box :)

LS - hope your BIL pulls through, having family like you I am sure helps.

I worked at Norden systems ont eh FAA ASDE 4 radar, claim to fame was the WWII plane bomb site, of which they had one on site I played with. The altitiude, yaw, ground and air speed could all be calculated and put in the site and get them more accurate than just the calculations and eyeballing it. Still only accurate to about 1000 feet. So dropping presents by plane would be quite a feat if they landed in the right town :)

Be well,

Good Afternoon Guys,
Well I reported in this morning that it was going to 40 ! That never happened, I think it may have hit 35 tops ! 😉

LS, this is what white oak chests with black walnut panels look like ! They go together well IMO ! 😁
I also used soft close hardware on the top lid of the chest !

Hope all have a great afternoon!

45 deg.
I made it to breakfast, but didn't eat all of it. Feeling much better. (Mostly, I wasn't making breakfast) Wife stayed home. We went to one couples house to do our breakfast group present exchange. I got some wood clamps and snicker bars ($25 limit). I had drawn my wife's name, so she got a good laugh when I came home with the same present I took, that's been wrapped and laying in plain sight for a couple weeks. Got her some books she wanted. It was fun.
picked up food from the mennonite meat market next door.
then picked up stuff at grocery store for the wife, then picked up some stocking stuffers.

I love oak and walnut woods, my 2 favorite for woodworking. Guess with new clamps I better do some again... Maybe some more book cases.

Good (Sunday) Christmas Eve morning. Overnight Low of 9.5C and it's presently 18C, clear & calm.

I'm down to one houseguest now, my Mate from Brisbane. Penelope did, finally, come 'in' yesterday arvo, around 1600.

It's going to be a long day today as I've got Church this morning at the regular service time and then again for the 'midnight' Christmas Eve service @ 2315. Christmas day lunch will be over at my neighbour's; an annual 'thing'.

That's about it, take care all.

Very nice! Yes, I too like the contrast of different wood. Always wanted to try my hand at doing inlays, but that hasn't been in the "time allotment" of all the projects the last few years. (I'm just making an excuse). Someday....
