good morning, 50 going to 57 light rain. Much warmer today and in the FC for the next few days

Wife was able to relax a bit last night in the easy chair after having had shoulder pains all day

Made a run to town and had propane bottle refilled and fill up with diesel

daughter is pursuing AI education courses

Other daughter is still sick with upper respiratory infections. Reminds me with restaurant jobs some go to work sick because no work no pay

Son having more delusional thoughts. Latest the money will be worthless and we have to convert all to bitcoins. Wondering what site he is watching
Well, considering that the pretty pieces of paper are backed by politicians’s promises and a majority’s willingness to believe them, as opposed to tangible assets as when those pieces of paper had the words “Redeemable in gold on demand at The U.S. Treasury or in gold or lawful money at any Federal Reserve Bank”, and with the impending end of the Dollar as the World Reserve Currency (especially as the currency used to transact all oil contracts, A/K/A ‘petrodollar’), is he really delusional?

55 and still raining, but not quite as hard as 4am when it woke both my wife and me. Should touch 67 and stop raining later.

Kyle, interesting article. Sharyl has always been a good reporter.

Helo, nice snow...looks like kids are enjoying it.

My oldest son took some men and their young sons and daughters down to the farm deer hunting yesterday...they harvested 5 does and 3 bucks, including two big ones...might get them mounted. Happy smiles on those kids' faces with their deer. I was hoping they might get a couple coyotes.

My middle son helped me split and stack firewood. Splitter started in less than 10 pulls...pretty good for it after sleeping all summer and running not too new gas. Watched Project Farms' "Does fuel stabilizer prevent ethanol damage" youtube yesterday...so ugly what ethanol does.

Drinking a coffee they brought me from a craft roaster...I give them so much, and never buy any from stores, so they like to treat me. (shhhh...just doesn't taste as good as mine...but don't tell them).
Any recommendations for obtaining green beans for roasting? To start I would prefer cheap over super-high quality, because I a,sure I would ruin a couple batches learning the technique.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

57.7F going to mid 60s, rain finished for several days now after heavy overnight downpours, which we needed. No trip to woodlot for a couple more days until it dries out a bit.

Concert las night was excellent, ran over two hours. Sara Evans can belt out songs better than Ethel Mermen.

Woke up at 2:30 because house stunk of smoke. Apparently, at the end of last burn two days ago, an ember on a large log did not completely pyrolize stayed active until the heat output was insufficient to keep the convection going up the chimney, and the cold damp air began backing down the chimney…

so I had to re-stoke the fire and burn up the rest of that log, which is now completely gone. I don’t think there was any real danger of CO poisoning, the ember was about 1/4 the size of a dime, but it certainly got the dog sneezing! This goes back to argument with Mrs about how much wood to put in the stove and letting it burn completely, even if it means adding more wood, so I think I have persuaded Miss “I don’t want anything to do with the fire but I will tell you how to run it and how much wood to NOT put in there” that maybe she should let the former Scoutmaster and outdoorsman run the woodstove…

After church, decorating will resume, now that I can carry boxes from the shed to the house without things getting rained on.

i hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

What do you recommend for a coffee grinder?
I'm not up on the latest and greatest, but have had this Breville model for 10+ years and it's been great...there are better grinders for making finer espresso grind, but this one will do the job, and is fantastic at regular coffee grind levels. Never had a problem. Good quality burrs. Got mine at Williams Sonoma on sale.

Baratza and Rancilio also make good, but higher priced grinders.

Good Morning! I hope you all are well. Slept good - coffee in hand. Checked the news - same as yesterday...49º going to 65º here today. 2 little tractor jobs planned today.
Feeling good about getting a lot done last week. Baked the second half of the pork loin wrapped in bacon last night. Yummy! I got a new egg poacher thingy - goes in the microwave. Gonna give it a try this am. Poached eggs and pork loin planned for breakfast.
I hope you all have a great day.

I buy most of my beans from Sweet Maria's (Oakland, CA) but occasionally buy from a few others like Burman's Coffee Traders, who will have great sales from time to time. Plus, you could check with your local roasters and see if they have some old beans to give, or will sell you a few pounds from their inventory. I did this with a roaster here.

I have some of their non stick heavy stove top pans I've been using for 30 yrs. They are great. The egg pan is showing a little wear on the edge where I break the eggs at the handle consistently. Just looked and a replacement set is on sale right now. But I only need one.

Going to attack mices this morning
Back about three decades ago, a friend had a mouse that was evading all the traps. I offered (for a case of beer) to eliminate the mouse. So I put a Snickers bar in the corner in the kitchen in front of a piece of 2x6, and sat up all night with the pellet rifle, and by time they got up the problem was eliminated — and all evidence disposed of…

Good Morning
49° and drizzling. Gonna stay like this all day.
Zoe has it figured out.

Yesterday was a decent day after the fog burned off. Got the smoker cleaned out and ready to go for the next round, whenever that is. Was very pleased with the FireBoard 2 Drive controller.
Picked up some outside, son brought up an RC model that I built at least 20 years ago. I gave it to him with a .90 four stroke engine, he converted it to electric. It seems to work very well. We made a few tweaks to the radio setup, but overall a success. I had painted it to look like a full scale J3 Cub that I used to fly. Hard to tell scale from the picture, but it’s about a 77” wingspan.

Did some cleanup in the shop and put together a tool bag to leave in the Prius.
Made a nice sandwich with thin sliced smoked pork tenderloin, some aged sharp cheddar, dill pickle slice and some Dijon mustard.

Not a lot planned for today, wife is at a farmers market, when she gets done, she is off to the holiday market to relieve son and DIL who manned her spot for the day. So it just Zoe and I on a rainy day.
