delightful afternoon with Buppies and his wife.
They know this area well and I got a fun tour of the Smith Mountain Lake dam. And Buppies paved the road! a fine looking road I might add...

riding in Buppies AMG S class was a real treat.

changed my clothes, now to try to fix the toilet. Going to take pics first since I can't see anything, totally blind working on this behind the toilet.
I really want to take a long hot shower and don't want to flood the floor.

this area is so pretty

one cannot drive through this area of Maryland and Virginia and not be constantly reminded of the Civil War.
Buppies and I chatted about the good number of Confederate flags being flown and the different reactions folks had to them, both positive and negative.

looks like several possible culprits
Won't be the crimped part vs the clamps
I need to feel around and try to locate anything wet.
at least I know what my hand will be touching now.
that fitting on the right looks particularly dodgy

well, first I have to clean everything in there again.
one's head almost goes in the bowl...
then down on my stomach and see if I can stretch my arm in there.
I can see me getting stuck.
help, I'm stuck in my toilet

actually why I try to keep a cell phone near.

Two-bit-score,
My reasoning for say ‘the court’ is it would be the simplest catalyst - one court decision to trigger ALL government entities to address. I fear if we relied on the electoral process we’d never get there

decided if I broke the fitting somehow, I'd never get my shower.
So took a nice hot shower and now no way am I getting back on the floor working on that tonight. Figured out what was leaking, tried to tighten, no joy. Will try again tomorrow afternoon. Meanwhile depressurized the system, easy to do since I'm running on tank water.
I was surprised how quick I went through 30 gallons of water.
Filled the tank back up a little while ago.

pretty tired, been some busy days, not getting my naps for sure.
maybe tomorrow.
oh, toilet duty. Sigh
maybe they will have a local repair guy that's about 5 feet tall.

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 11.5C and it's presently 26.5C, clear & calm. Wind will pick up this arvo.

I did get some more wood stacking in yesterday arvo prior to the Parrish Council meeting. I reminded them that about a wreath for Remembrance Day... they'd forgot and asked if I could order one and, perhaps, lay it on the day.

So, this morning, it was a quick trip into town to arrange a wreath with the local florist. Fortunately I was also able to pick up a few items at the grocery store too.

I'm back to wood-stacking, as the occasions arise. Plus I'll need to 'tiddly up' my rig for Remembrance Day tomorrow.

Lest we forget.

That's about it, take care all.

Finally made it to southern kitchen. Drew, you might have made the better detour at harpers ferry. Out of curiosity I drove all the way to the road closure on 340, and it forces you to go south on 671. The problem was down at Rt 9. It was backed up 1-2 miles, and it took about 30+ minutes to get to the traffic light to turn right. Pretty area. I’ve been there before but been awhile. Those poor people that have to put up with that traffic every day.

Immediately Below smith mountain lake starts Leesville lake. We had friends with a cabin on it, who once took us on a boat ride up and down the lake.

Southern kitchen first opened 1april 1955. We had a booth with the juke box at the table.
Wish I had taken a pic of the neon sign lit up.

Good Evening Guys,
Nice day down here, a bit cloudy but we did get some afternoon sun for awhile !

Unless they break the law, and then the laws are lax and they are back in school. Case in point was the punk who threatened my daughter and wife a year and a half ago. He barely got a slap on the wrist, and I'm not sure if he missed a day of school. He should have gotten a court case.
Kyle,
I certainly don’t have all the answers , wish I did ! I hate to hear stories like yours ! What I do feel strongly about is children getting much better parenting at home ! Not sure of how to remedy that deficiency in our schools, but wouldn’t it be great to have kids that come to school with proper values !

Hope all have a great evening ! 🙏

Just after dark at 6ish, the front blew thru and temps dropped from 76 to 61 and scattered showers. Not much rain here but my friend near the Gulf of Texas got about 4" already.

Oh my! Good thing you're a big scary guy and that moose knew better than to mess with ole big bad Thomas! glad you're ok.

I agree, almost like it was misthreaded from the beginning.
Need to back it out and try again, with some teflon tape
Drew, BEF is right, it is misthreaded. Appears to be an NPT thread. Drew, the female probably has the first thread boogered up and will be really hard to start the thread back together straight. If you had an NPT tap, you could chase out the bad first thread and it would probably go fine after that.

Good Evening Guys,

Too many dead beat dads, fatherless kids. The bible talks serious about a man who doesn't provide for his own.
Also there's Proverbs 23:13 and 14 to handle the kids with a good dose of Proverbs.

Then if you want some extreme reading to go with today's news, read Psalms 83.

Rewarding day, but tiring. Helped some seniors with a project, hydraulic bike. the pedaling pumps a hydraulic pump to drive the rear wheel. Last year's team won the national championship amongst about a dozen colleges. I'm blessed to be able to work with these bright kids from diverse backgrounds, many countries, many religions. Mostly Texans though. Our program has too many applying for the seats we have available. Sadly have to turn some away.

Prayers for our team.

I understand the desire to see it 'done right in one swoop' but leaving things to the vagaries of the court system is a gamble. If someone can do it I'm all for it! But more often than not it isn't as easy as we'd like it to be.

Leaving things to a court case to sort out is how we wound up with what is known in Texas as "the Robinhood Plan". That was a court ordered plan to equalize state funding for school districts where the state actually took money from "property rich" districts (meaning those with high valued commercial and industrial tax bases mainly. Not that the individual families in the District were 'rich') and "recaptured" it and reallocated it to other "property poor" districts. Long story short it did not really equalize anything and it generated a lot of hostility among both sides. The legislature has chipped away at it over the years so it's still in place but not like it was. Reading the school finance law is like trying to decipher a book of alchemy.

Oh yeah, and we once sold the voters on a plan to finance public education with the Texas Lottery. Only thing is, the lottery money never was legally dedicated to the schools.

Democracy is not easy and citizens MUST be engaged and involved for it to work.
