So the chimney bricks were built on top and didn't come down to the floor?
Yep. Mortar mix to the mesh on two sides. Mesh attached to wood. A couple of true 2x10s holding it up. When I got to the bottom...5 whacks with the sledge hammer to get the last bricks to cave in. Built really well.

Good Afternoon Guys,

Mike Z, beautiful old Model A roadster ! If you could see the serial number on the drivers side of the engine, that could possibly tell you what year it is ! Although after 96 years that could well be a different motor ! There is also another stamping on the frame but you need to take the body off !

.....
It was well kept. Looked like last tags were 1993. Inspection or some sort of tax tag...

Without a decent garage here...no more toys. Lol.

Successful, but tiring day. The drip lines are done! Some of those were stubborn and wouldn't pull up without digging a bit. I was actually surprised to find that they were so embedded.

Removed some 5" round landscape timbers that will be in the way of the addition. Those I knew were put in to stay put..... It was 2 rows high, drilled through both, and set with 2' of 1/2" rebar. I had to use my solid steel 6' breaker bar and a block to get them out. I'm going to save separating them and removing the rebar for another day...

Knee started complaining, and the temp shot up to 91°, so called it quits. Knee swelled a good bit. Gonna hit the couch and elevate it.
Can't quench my thirst, drank 1-1/2 gallons today over 6 hours. I guess only 10% humidity will dry it out of you....

I hope everyone has a great evening!

Wow! You're soaking it in!
We have 2.3" for the year!
I was thing we were behind for the year. 25.57” so far this year. Normal yearly rain fall is 32.53”. Looks like we are on track to have a normal year. Wish there was a way to share our rain with you.

Good stuffed peppers for supper. She uses meat loaf in them. Wife's been getting more tomatoes ready to can, but more and more get tossed... She made and canned Salsa yesterday. Had some last night, very good.

59°F and clear skies this morning, got up to 89° today. Nice breeze around 5mph made it a very pleasant day.

Used my ninja skills to quietly sneak out to the side yard and rescue the mower this morning. No hornets in sight. Guess they were sleeping in today after all of yesterday's excitement. Got the rest of the front mowed, went inside to rest a bit, then took a terrible nap. But, it was a nap nonetheless.

Found another sting I didn't know I had under my left arm. Doesn't hurt or itch (yet), but it's swollen and red like the others. I swear these things itch worse than chigger bites.

Wife and I wet to Copper Dock Winery near Pocahontas IL for our anniversary dinner this evening. It's where we got married 10 years ago. Good food, good wine, and good live music by a guy with a nice voice playing acoustic guitar and singing, accompanied by another younger guy alternating between electric violin and mandolin. Nice time

Hope everyone is well.

Good evening, gents.

Reached 100 again today. We are at 71 days of 100 degrees or more, if this continues (like buppies says) by September 21 the fist day of Fall, we will have 90 100 degree days. How many days are in summer?
That is a long hot spell. We're in the upper 80s but after showers ending on Thursday then we have highs of 82F into next weekend forecast.

COVID and strep throat cases are on the rise. There's reports of COVID like cases but they don't test positive. We may be in for a long snowy winter per some.

For some reason I’m dreading replacing brakes on my 16 ft trailer. Only 1 axle has brakes, I'd like to put brakes on both.
I found a local trailer repair shop. They do semi trailers but sell trailer parts for all makes and models.

I swapped the hubs and added backing plates to my trailer for pretty reasonable.

$450 for everything. 4 backing plates, 4 hubs, plus battery box and break away. Of course this was before covid. Probably would cost around $650 now.

Coffee has finished brewing. 57° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 89° with afternoon clouds. Got grass mowed. Then did what I have been putting off for awhile. Painted inside of chicken coop. It's done not one of my favorite jobs. I am done with this project. I can now put all the items taken out for repairs back in.

59 up to 93. Where did Autumn go?

PJ, looks like you are a lucky and happy guy. Happy Anniversary to you both.

Buppies, sorry you're ailing. Prayers said.

...and for your son, Kyle.

Yesterday's baby shower went well, according to the wives. My son and I got home at dark after a nice hike up Flattop, and Fallingwater Cascades. Talked with some super friendly folks.

good morning all
the heat has found us, 90 today and hot for next five days,
likely the hottest this summer. Groan.

sister in California says covid is back in her family and they are back to wearing masks.
double groan

headed over to stepbrother's farm here locally later this morning, will catch up with them.
got the lawn mowed late yesterday, only job on the list for this afternoon will be sitting in the shade
and hopefully fixing rear tail light on rv.

This is the original one that keeps popping loose.
I bought a 20 pack of single use super glue, and going to put a tiny drop on the plastic housing and glue it in.
I've found buying larger sizes of super glue wasteful, always rock hard when I go to use it again.
if the bulb ever burns out I'll know where to pry it apart.

PJ, wonderful pic of you two

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

61F going to mid-80s, sunny all day.

Trip up to woodlot went well, stove is in the cabin shed, it needs to be installed and get new door gaskets and a good cleaning and freshen-up. Mrs. is getting more confident with the splitter and did another batch of firewood. Completely greased excavator —- that locking adapter on the grease gun is a HUUUUGE help! Now I just need to pick up a four-foot hose for it.

i also pulled one of the fenceposts for the garden gate and snuck the excavator into the veggie garden and did a little bit of “weeding” in preparation for fall veggie planting — far easier and much faster than a broad fork!

after church, we will take the dogs up to the woodlot, no serious work, just pick more tomatoes and cayenne peppers.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!
