Miss 1 day and takes forever to get caught up.
Really touched by all the concern expressed and I feel bad I screwed up. Strange for me, I didn’t check later in day either, duh.

To be honest, if not for the news late Tues I might not have know what was going on. Much anticipation was on Dora, which turned into a none event for us, little rain or wind. Not so for so many others especially on other side of the mountain, some getting 80+ mph winds. Also due to topography, we didn’t get and smoke from Maui.
Don’t know what you guys are seeing on mainland, but devastation definitely not hyped. Local coverage showing lots of devastation, over 270 buildings (businesses and homes), at least 36 dead, more in hospital. Airlines offering $19 flights to get off Maui to other islands. Big evac facility setup in Honolulu. I still haven’t heard what may have been initial cause.

Only been spitting rain, so I've been outside getting a few things done...one of which is working on our mailbox, which was struck by a "shiny black pickup" yesterday evening. Our neighbors were out walking after dinner and came up our drive to tell us our mailbox was on the side of the road, where they moved it out of the road, along with new looking pieces of yellow "turn signal" plastic.

Apparently, it happened while my wife was out watering her flowers because she heard a loud noise. looked up and saw the pickup speeding away...based on the 100 feet of tire track in the shallow ditch where our box was located, he's lucky he didn't totally lose control. The post is salvageable, and that's what I've been working on. The box itself has to be replaced.

I was in the barn at the time, ripping a flap of skin off the top of my hand, based on a stupid-fast-pivot-move I made while holding onto a battery, which helped smash my hand against the edge of a post. My wife patched it up, but still in bad shape.
 Heck of day. :(

rain is done, 1.3 inches total

David, glad you are doing ok.
SIL in Oahu said Salvation Army was hard at work

sure not what anyone expected could happen in Hawaii
We hear of the amazing rainfall David normally gets, but apparently some of the other islands are much drier.
