GM UPDATE:

Home Cheapo rearranged the delivery order to one that made sense (actually the driver did - he wanted to be done with all his drops before the rain so worked from furthest in) so we got our pallet o’ parts at 8:10 AM!

did a trash run, did some shopping for Mrs and Mom, got home just as the first raindrops tarted to fall. 20minutes later the sun started coming out. Puttered around the house a bit, sat on the deck until the clouds built up and the wind kicked up. Secured operations and started the charcoal in the chimney,n got it into the grill just before the next batch of real rain started. It should stop in about 20 minutes, and then Salisbury steaks go on the grill.

no need to go up to the woodlot and water plants today!

Went got Cub from the barn, hooked up dump cart and hauled new grinder and Pferd flap disc up to shop.

For sharpening jig the new grinder takes a different thread stud than the HFT grinder I have been using, so I'll be able to set up two grinders to use when sharpening.

Grinder is variable speed (5000 to 12000 rpm) and slowly ramps up to speed when you pull the trigger unlike the other ones. Not sure if I'm going to like that or not.

Checked grass in front, not really long enough to mow yet, will give it couple more days.

Underside of MMM scraped off (wasn't that bad), newly sharpened blades installed and torqued. Will probably be a while before I can use it though (see below)

Swapped out the pallet forks for the Light Material bucket.

Ran box blade over the driveway, filled in some depressions and smoothed things out.

Started to do some compost screening.

Noticed a noise coming from the engine, had a closer look ... appears that the water pump is going bad. 2544 hours and 20 years.

Waiting for a call back from the dealer: there's a choice of two different pumps, based on the engine serial number. They don't stock either and he wanted to call someone to verify the engine serial number I gave him.

Hearing noises coming from the engine is never good, but in the big scheme of things replacing the water pump ought to be fairly easy.

Woman done from doing returns and grocery shopping, brought me back a Taco Supreme.

Also picked up the new mower blades for the Cub while she was out ... (y)

Our flag comes from same company BEF same size 25 foot pole. I have found in a lot of instances you get what you pay for. Because of what I do boots are in 300 degree plus asphalt, the pair I wear are 7 years old Merrills my guys wear cheap ones replace once or twice a year at $75.00 a piece. My $225 boots are a deal, I have a new pair in waiting for originals to wear out they were only $185 same shoe

Perhaps I’d get better service life from a 3x5, but I really like my 4x6, especially when I see it as I drive up the road.
my 3x5 seemed huge on my little cottage. I'm hoping this one won't keep flying up on the roof and getting stuck in the gutters like the last one.
time after time after time. New rotating flagpole, hope this works better.
neighbor across street who misses nothing asked me why I bother fixing the flag almost every day.
I told her I didn't feel right seeing it up on the roof or in the wet gutter. She said the wind will blow it back at some point.
I believe we agreed to disagree.

I can smell that from here Don. Yum

Really
Expensive
Items
We used to buy quite a bit from REI. They had good quality items. But the main reason was their policy of accepting returns at any time.

I’m sure the reason they discontinued that was because too many people abused it. I did not but I’m not prone to take things I bought back very often even when I can.

I don’t have the confidence in REI that I did before though.

Agree you get what you pay for. I use Nicks that are built to take heat and abuse. Firefighters fighting the wild fires use them with Kevlar stitching and special soles. Mine are not firefighting boots but made to the same standards. I have high arch and they are made to fit my foot. They are not cheap but they last and can be rebuilt or resoled. Mine are going on 10 years and has been resoled once.
