Good morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

53.3F, going to low 80’s, intermittent precipitation expected today.

Ordered 10T type 57 stone to be delivered Monday. Mrs had raked the shed site and removed a bunch of roots and branch debris, and we put down weedbloc fabric under where the shed will sit. I need to mark the end of the fabric with a stake..

Got another stump out yesterday, began working on another when a cold, gusty win blew through, so operations were suspended in case it brought rain.

it didn’t…

Today’s plans are pretty much consumed with taking mom shopping and other errands, and depending on how bad the weather is — or isn’t — possibly going up for dog walk.

Either today or to,or row we should get a Harry Progress Report from boarding school. We will find out who is training who LOL!

Kilroy, maybe I'm confused...I've never seen anyone carry around an ATV spare, but then I don't go racing off road.
why do you need a spare? Do you get a lot of flats? I sure understand getting the tire out of the little bed but why do you have it in
the first place? For the "Jeep Baja" look?

I have a spare tire on my small utility trailer since it is a single axle. I expect never to use it.
Just a feel good thing to know if I blow out the right tire on a bad roadside around here, I'll have something to get me going
right away. I figure I will likely shred the sidewall. I suppose if you rock climb on a lot of shale, that would be an issue.
Just seems those UTV tires rarely fail in my admitted personal experience.

I've had an ATV and UTV and now a golf cart for almost forty years. Never got a flat. So I'm curious.
Now if you had six locust trees in your front lawn I'd understand. :)

It does make a wonderful front bumper.

I have a bunch of stumps in my yard, several are now rotting away and looking bad. I try to hide them by putting flower pots on top.
Squirrels and birds peck at them like mad, dig into sides, I guess to eat bugs and grubs. Makes a big mess and leaves bits of wood all around the stump.
I might rent a backhoe to take them out. Something I don't know how to use though, no seat time on backhoe at all.
If I just grind the stumps the whole area will eventually sink when the wood rots.
if I had a mini-ex, I think I'd be off looking for stumps all the time.

MTD Ohio based company owned by Stanley Black and Decker

Those who ride the trails often go long distances off road ie Hatfield and McCoy trail system and having a spare is a good idea. The longest trail system I know of runs from Wyoming to Mexican border but cannot remember the name

I have a spare because we use the quad to go on- road (it is street legal) and the state road we travel for approx 1-1/4 miles has a junkyard and scrapyard on it, and we have gotten flats on our regular vehicles, and who wants to be stranded? We also have a lot or dead root ends poking up out of our cleared areas on our woodlot, and there is good potential for punctures there, too.

but the primary and most compelling reason for having the sore is that Mrs said “ Whaddya mean, no spare tire? OF COURSE we need a spare tire!”

and I heartily agreed, because if we DO get a flat on the woodlot, it is almost a six-mile walk home to get another vehicle. And can you guess who would be doing the walking…

one thing I did remember to pack in the car is a lug nut wrench sized for trailer tire nuts.
don't forget the wrench...though I bet you have a little tool box in there.

56 lovely degrees, going to 85. Maybe rain tonight or tomorrow.

Yep, Buppies, Mother's Day is near.

RS, Grackles have moved in and are consuming a suet bar about every other day here, too...hate to leave it empty since the woodpeckers and nuthatches, etc like it. I have a second suet near the house, and the blackbirds aren't as brave coming to it.

Kilroy, nice job on that rack.

oh that would be the walk of shame, to the tune of
"didn't I tell you to get a spare"?

thanks
I might not even have to make the walk alone, so I could continue to be informed of my I’ll-advised decision to not have a spare…

no, we got the spare ordered about two days after taking delivery of the quad, and had it in the bed before we even got it registered.

There is storage under the seat, and I have a couple of tire irons in there, with other tools as well.

Good morning, 56 going to a warm 83 today, no rain very nice clear day

Going to pick up groceries this morning that we ordered online yesterday.

Mowed the big field yesterday and will likely start mowing some of the tree planting areas. Keeping mowed around the young trees is essential to survival because the hawks will be able to get the critters that will hurt the roots. May get started on some of the pending service work on the RTV, tractor and sprinter. The X is up to date on service. Only service so far changing the gear oil on the track drives. But changed the engine oil and filter also. Not comfortable with Kubota first oil change being at 500 hours.

Mostly, yes protecting the shoulder is now a priority when doing any work. The last thing I need is severed rotator cuff with no possible fix at my age.

The daily PT home work is working well. Using straps for legs and resistance tubes to work all areas. Working the injured shoulder side with limited and light rubber tubes. Doing full workout on the good arm and shoulder with much heavier rubber resistance tubes to build up more strength. Doing sets of sit ups and back strengthening work with combination of free work and rubber tubes. Biceps and triceps on the good arm are coming along well. Have a PT appointment next week to check on progress.

Good morning, the low temp is 52 and it is going to 74°F. Wind NW 5 to 10 mph. Zero chance of precipitation.

We are both up, so we should be outside by 9. If we can knock off the tin jobs (there are two of them) then we can get on with either the grass and bush recovery OR make a new screen door.

Time for some raw oatmeal and yogourt.

Stay safe all

Also yesterday we had our phone call with our long time financial adviser. He is doing for some major rebalancing work and setting us up to take advantage of possible weakness created by the debt crisis

Morning 54 going up to 86 and I see the sun.
Spent most of yesterday on pool work, and cleaning out basement living area to make it neater for tomorrow.
5 bags of salt - $95 - ouch

Watered new forsythia and veggies. Need a better way to water stuff far away from house. Walking with a 2gallon can or 5 gallon water bucket is getting old.

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 4:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 92F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Does YouTube TV let you skip or fast forward through commercials, David?

I didn't have any luck getting the wire out of the M62 gear case yesterday, so I took the cover and axle off and took it in to the Kubota dealer. Got a call a couple hours later letting me know that an o-ring and seal were damaged, and that they had to order the parts. Won't be ready until next Tuesday.

While I was in town I got another alligator booster; I think that's the sixth one. Arm is a little tender this morning, but so far no chills or other side effects.

I was couch surfing yesterday at about 4PM when I felt a gentle rocking and heard the house creaking around me. It was a 5.5 magnitude earthquake centered at Lake Almanor, about 45 miles north of here. Had another 5.2 magnitude aftershock about an hour ago that woke me up, same sensations. It will be interesting to see if any new cracks have opened up on the stucco paint job, but otherwise I haven't noticed any other damage.

Finally got a response from one of the wiring harness guys yesterday, so will try to get him on the phone today.

Might take a swing at finding the leak in the side-by-side tire today.

And the building inspector is supposed to be out sometime to look at the stucco mesh, too.

TGIF gang!

Billie- I now have 8 feeders out and I am going through 2 suet cakes/day. Many different bird species are eating it and fighting over it.

You get a trailer, I have a backhoe on my Massey.
your tlb weighs 2600, little too much for my one ton trailer.
But my friend with the Kubota has a nice truck and trailer.
will keep that in mind, thanks Ken

Jay you put out the good stuff and those birds will come
no millet for them, they want the pate.

It was a mix of smoke veiled clear skies and clouds with 47ºF as this morning's low temperature. The clouds have since built back in and there have been brief periods of rain sprinkles. 54ºF is the current temperature and I do expect to see a mix of smoke-veiled sun and clouds with an afternoon high temperature ~80ºF and a chance for popup showers or maybe even a T-storm.

I have not posted about our solar panel array which shut down last week. The company who installed and have maintained this system are swamped with new installations and can not come and replace the blown fuses in the AC connector box and recommended that I hire a general electrician to replace the fuses. This has happened before and it seems to occur when EverSource® linemen are doing line work and screwing around with the line voltages causing my inverter(?) to blow its fuses.

This is a bad year for ticks- yesterday I picked 8 immobilized ticks off my pant legs and 6 today. I am really happy with that pyrethrin clothes spray that I use.

Drew- I agree millet is just filler; most birds do not eat it. I got a dozen suet cakes delivered here the other day and 3 dozen more are on he way to meet the demand. I do not follow just how much $ I have spent on fancy bird foods and suet cakes.

This is the suet cake I use. Squirrels hate it, and bears try it once and froth at the mouth like they have rabies.
