@mostly_gas - 1966 BSA Victor. Going to see how it works with an .080” over bore. Some say it can’t be done.
Back in the day, guys tried to bore out Norton Commando barrels to 1000cc. It worked for a while, then the cylinders cracked between the fins. Fun while it lasted, though...

Yesterday was fun. Carvana came and got the Mustang GT. Easiest sale of my life. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a buyer. I always knew I would sell this car but only dreamed of getting my money back.
Carvana gave me every dime including the sales tax back that I gave to carmax 3.5 yrs ago. The car's value rose 20% this year.
It was a fun ride.

RNG you may have to heat it to get it back in shape or take it off and use a press

I am always concerned about using the rosebud heating about the withdraw rate for the gas trying to stay below 1/7 of tank volume rate. A big tank is your friend

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 6:00AM. Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. Slight chance of a rain shower. High around 70F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Really far behind again, but just from the number of pages, you folks have been busy!

Made another offer on a house yesterday, owner countered with a much larger number, so probably gonna pass.

Lots of rain on the way home, so glad to be in a car. Ran great all the way, 42 MPG average.

Gate was closed but not locked when I got home, wouldn't close with the actuator hooked up. Easy to see why: The bracket was badly bent. That steel is 3/8" thick, but the moron pushing on the gate had a twelve foot lever. It remains to be seen if there's any damage to the hinges or actuator.

I have the whole episode on video, so not much doubt about who did what. New rule: No contractors on site unless I'm here.

Happy Hump Day, folks...

I love when you give specific instructions to call prior to arrival in order to have the gate open, and it doesn’t happen. That happened when we had our survey done (we called the office saying we hadn’t heard from them on the scheduled day, office said they were out on the job at 7AM, we went up and the gate hinge brackets were unbolted and the survey was 2/3 done) and when we had some clearing/grading last year (cut the chain and put their own lock on for access, worked (allegedly ) a day and a half before calling us with a “progress report”).

thqt second event, more than anything, is why we bought the mini-ex. We’ll do our own @#$&ed work, thank you very much!

0.19" of rain fell overnight and it was a cloudy 39ºF for this morning's low temperature. The sun has made an unexpected appearance and it is currently a mostly cloudy 49ºF. I do not expect to see all that much sun today, but whatever sunshine I get will be appreciated. Today's predicted high temperature is 52ºF and there is a 50% chance for PM rain showers and a 70% chance for rain this evening. The grass is greening up; I can see some seat time on the old rider next week once I get it running.

I have 6 bird feeders up and running ATM. In a couple of days I'll start putting out oranges and a Baltimore Oriole feeder in anticipation of the returning bird migrants. I've been taking the feeders down before dark. It will only be a matter of time before the bear starts arriving earlier. It's a decent sized bear.

On the good: My friend's tumor was benign. He lost a lot of blood. It was a total administrative disaster at Mass General, but what matters most is the outcome. Thank you all for any/all + thoughts and prayers for my friend.

This video was taken on 4.16, but the bear has been here almost nightly.

Good morning! Low was 39°, going up to 76°. Sunny, light winds. A slight 20% chance of a T-storm.

Fritz, your daughter is definitely making things better, and turning heads for sure!

Wng, hope you're able to get out to the trails soon!

Lou, hope you're able to get the foundation issues corrected without too much hassle.

Kilroy, hope you can get the plants transplanted before your trip. ..... $4500 for scaffolding? How many sections?

Today's agenda has a couple trips into the "big city" for an appointment and then a stop at HD. Then back this afternoon for another appointment.
Tree planting may take a back seat for today......

Need to go pour another cup of coffee......
Everyone have a great day!

Yesterday's traffic jam was caused by a three car pile up at the top of the Cuesta Grade on north bound 101 north of San Luis Obispo. Happened during a strong downpour, and looked like the two rear cars couldn't slow down fast enough to avoid the first car. While in the stop'n'go traffic leading up to the wreck, the guy in the big pickup truck in front of me entertained himself by doing burnouts on the wet road, getting nearly sideways in the process. Did it three or four times, so it wasn't by accident, even though he nearly caused another one. Clowns like this make me want to quit driving.

   / Good morning!!!! #169,154
66°F and .11 inches rain.

Makani passed the night totally oblivious to what he might have missed sleeping in the wild and rain, no pillow, no nice bed, no bowl of water or food at the ready. What a life.

So I still have my gate post issue. Will continue to look for a solution but I think getting the appropriate size exhaust pipe connector as an insert might win out as I haven’t found any 2in OD pipe.

RS, looking forward to the final before and after pics in side by side look at saw.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

44F, overcast and quite windy - out of the NW @ 15 - 25 mph - with a rain shower @ 12:00, heading up to around 49F for the day's high.

Windy days are always a mixed bag: gives a great draft for a fire in the double barrel stove ... but the seal around the overhead door ain't all that great ... ;)

Got the main table cleaned up and the miter slots pretty well cleaned out:

IMG_2542 copy.jpg

Wire brush in a die grinder worked pretty well for the miter slots (much better than in the drill) ... provided you don't mind it spitting the wires at you as they come loose. (Wire wheel rated for 8,000 rpm, die grinder likely spins @ 20K+ rpm ... )

Even so, there were big chunks of crap that were still coming out as I blew the slots out with the air hose.

Also got the main table mounted and the miter slots squared to the blade.

And the extension wings mounted and leveled with the main table, and several coats of wax applied to the main table:

IMG_2541 copy.jpg

Plus got the dents pounded out of the door (more or less) for the VFD enclosure and got the door mounted back on the enclosure.

Agenda for today:

Think the hopper feeder may be due for a refill, also one suet feeder.

Tweak the angle indicator on the Unisaw (it's slightly off)

Install gasket/foam seal on VFD enclosure. Plug some holes in the enclosure as well.

See what I can do as far as cobbling up a miter gauge. I got several (in pieces) in that load of parts I got that came from the auction.

Also got about a dozen collet wrenches for routers in that deal too, one size of which is really close to fitting the feet on the mobile base. So modify one of those to fit the feet. (Loctite isn't enough to secure the feet from turning, once they contact the floor and have the resistance of the weight of the saw on them)

Maybe drag the fence rails up from the garage and get those installed.

Clean up in the shop and make some room near the overhead door so the saw can be moved over there. Will move it down to the garage at the house tomorrow with the Kubota once it warms up.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a good Thursday ... (y)
