Good Morning. We are in a stretch of nice weather. It must have hit the 80s yesterday. 49F now heading up to 85F. Kind of dry.

We had a little excitement here at the house yesterday. My wife got home around 3:30 and there was a fire department jamboree going on in the backyard. The woods behind the house burned. Burned right up to the property line. Burned my branch pile. That's OK one less thing to chip up. The only thing of ours it got was an old garden wagon. All that is left is the frame and the wheels. I wouldn't have minded if it got the old picnic table back there. The woods is completely cleaned out. They had to cut down a couple of dead cherry trees that got fire inside. I wonder if the cable crews that have been working in the neighborhood dropped a cigarette?

I missed all the action. I was up mowing the lawn at the farm. Beautiful afternoon. Nice and warm with a nice breeze to keep it from feeling hot.

I found out my neighbor across the street is moving. I found out because he put a huge pile of garbage bags out on garbage day. His wife died 2 years ago and he took it hard. She was in her mid fifties so it was unexpected. I will miss them. They were good neighbors.

Our daughter is home with us for a long weekend. She found out it was a lot cheaper to fly home to go to our dentist compared to the dentist out in Illinois. She must have saved a couple of grand. It is nice to have her visit.

Keep your eyes open this Spring is going by like a flash.

good morning all
very warm day, up to 88 today

am off with trailer to Pemberton NJ, near Ft Dix/McGuire AFB, to pick up Gravely garden tractor.

sure was nice being outside yesterday but my eyes itched and itched.
Getting to be where I need to change my morning shower to an evening shower just to get the pollen off me.
Even though I wear a hat, it seems to get everywhere and it's just starting...

always did a morning shower because wanted to be clean after communing on throne. But now with a bidet seat on my toilet,
that necessity is gone. If you haven't tried a bidet seat, I highly recommend it. It's a little weird but you get used to it.

am hoping a water heater part shows up today from dealer, the one that fried when I plugged in the rv without any water
in the tank. Not good. Not my error, he forgot to turn it off before sending me on my way, so he said no problem, I'll send the part.
And then, drum roll, I have an interesting list of rv to-do's for my favorite MacGyver. Heater element, new water intake, replace kitchen faucet.
And I have a new digital door lock I'd like installed on my house door, but not sure there's enough room.

5 years ago I would not have asked for help on any of this. Admit my confidence was rocked when I got sick three years ago, plus I seem to get frustrated
too easily. Perhaps it's my brain ossifying...
so I consider myself seriously lucky to have friends who are willing to help.

forsythia continues to blaze away, lots of color along with my yellow pansies
Pemberton is one of the nicer parts of Jersey - I always enjoyed getting lost in the Pine barrens and exploring my way back out 😁

Ahhhh retirement BEF. ;)

Yep, now I get to do all the work I never had time to do while working.
After seeing the state of the mower, I almost left it. But this is the one I just rebuilt the transmission. I have not checked, but I think the engine is gone, locked up. I told dad if it bounces off the trailer on the way home I’ll just keep going.

“AC” worked well last night. 52° outside and only had the fan on low.

I looked at the split tree, one big limb where the split is could hit the house if cut off low.

Glad fire stayed away from house. Always nice to have the kids visit. Today I’m the kid visiting.
What side of Lancaster are you on? We like to visit up that way.

Kilroy, my friend's parents owned a blueberry farm in Pemberton, still have the sign out front (rehabbed for fun)
that went back to nature after friend's Dad died. Father was an aircraft mechanic and my old friend got a lot of good
training from him. he and I have done many projects together, and he was the only one I would trust to take care of my Gravely
while it was living away from home.

went to Jersey beaches as a kid. Driving down those long stretches, with the windows down, no a/c..., in the station wagon, watching the pine forests
go by and by and by, and will we ever get there?? On the way back you were tired, sunburned and itchy from sand and hopefully just fell asleep.

First trip I remember riding in was 1959 Biscayne station wagon, with the big fins, big silver thing, six cylinder and three on the tree. Probably horribly slow compared to today, but then the world seemed to go a little slower too in the 50s...

My grandfather always bought cheap Chevrolet sedans. Pure depression mentality, had lost almost everything he had earned in big crash.
So my Father started off buying these seriously slow and boring cars.
Then I think he woke up, maybe started making more money, started buying my Mother an Oldsmobile.
It was the cheapest one, and geez it had three on the tree also, must have been the last one made.
And then came the Olds 98 convertible, dark green, with a 370hp 455 top spec engine.
Dad must have had a good year. If I was good, it was my date car instead of my own beater.
But he did it for us, he would have been happy with an old faded Biscayne. Not a material guy at all.

Camera got me using the kubota to pull the mower out of the garage. Lifted back end off the ground.
The garage is another major project. Not sure it can be saved. The middle keeps coming down, the side posts are leaning to the right.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

53.3F going to low 70s, forecast is rain/light/rain/isolated T-storms/showers/scattered T-storms/light rain/showers-scattered showers/rain/light rain/intermittent showers and rain. So an good day for administrative duties and catch up on phone calls that couldn’t be made while doing the tax data thing.

we did the “tough love” thing with Harry last night, especially since he was especially unruly yesterday. So he went into the crate at bedtime, did his hourlong for 45 minutes, and was quiet until the 3AM Call of Nature — and instead of doing the sofa thing, went back into the crate. 10 minutes of yowling and he kinda fingered out that he was not getting snuggles on the sofa anymore…

1100 conference call for Doggie Boot Camp, and 1700 follow up vet visit for Harry, next vaccination and questions about frequent hiccoughs.

I got the four grapevine roofing’s in yesterday, there is an ancient section of ag fence that I can use for supporting the vines once they start growing, I just need to replace a couple of the 50+ year old posts that are rotted. I may even invest in some 1/8” steel cable for a top support strand.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!!!!

I wonder if the Cardinal staring at its' reflection thinks that is another male coming into his neck of the woods.
There have been several Male Cardinals around pond and feeders. This one actually took a drink out of pond. Female was also there.

when I was a wee lad, Mom would take me down to Asbury Park on the train from Newark — the weekend shore trains were the older Jersey Central cars with windows you could open all the way, towed behind a GG1 (a thing of imposing wonder to a 6 year old (and still impressive now)) until the switchover to DE at long branch because the catenary power wires ended there. Fried clam strips at the Howard Johnson’s, SkeeBall, the aerial ads towed by small planes — good times…

sounds like my back some days... ;)

clam strips at HoJo's. Oh yes. And french fries
Skeeball, that goes way back. Wasn't that the one where it sloped up at the back?
fun memories

my most favorite memory was the little remote control bulldozer you could drive and push sand around
in what was basically a big fish tank. I think it took nickels back then, soon to be quarters I'm sure

Good morning, 59 going to 80 beautiful day

Checked the blood work results online this morning. All good except A1C is 5.8 should be lower than 5.7. Need to do better on carbs and exercise.

Off to PT again this morning. Hurt the shoulder slightly yesterday connecting water to the outside sink. It was not coming together so resorted to brazing fittings together since I could not find the right combination. Today after PT will go to HD to stock up on plumbing supplies. But it works now.

One of our neighbors saw the recent accident outside our property driving up as it exploded. Two people died

Hope it goes well for you Bubbies today.

Have a kid coming out nest week to to help me with fence poles and tree shelter stakes

The Redbuds are blooming and the full 1500 ft row looks good.

Morning, 58 going up to 87, and sunny.
Still need to fix heater door in Jeep, had to leave windows open yesterday.

So, talked to local lawn guy yesterday about "new" neighbor. Seems the guy down hill from him offered to buy the land ( so no house looking down into his backyard) and they were working on the deal but it may be stalled.

Last nights food/drinks at local HW store followed by movie "The Money Pit" was really fun. Got to meet and talk to the HW store owner and the guy who runs the theater. This movie theater boasts it has been showing movies continuously the longest in the US. Movies since 1906, rebuilt 1883 to current layout.

BEF - we had those hard wired alarms in last house, I remember them....When I had to add one more alarm to meet fire code, I had to put in another of the same unit. When I went to hook them up, the noise coming from all of them was torture.
And I remember battery and unit changes just like yours...

Pennwalk - glad the fire didn't keep coming, scary stuff.

Buppies prayers sent and hope dizziness goes away quick.

Be well,

47º going to 65º today. We have the gloomy morning / sunny afternoon pattern going for the next month or 2, I hope. The heat can wait. Mowing for the neighbor this afternoon. First hired out job for the tractor. Should be easy enough for the weed slayer. ;)
