Good morning!!!!

Good morning, the low temp is 29 and the high to 36°F. Wind WSW 8 mph. 'Special' weather statement ended. Periods of light snow mixed with rain. There is frozen precipitation of some sort in the forecast for the next 3 days.

I have a bunch of 12 volt aircraft landing lights (spot) that need testing, before I give them to buddy who got the Jeep. We truckers use them for moose lights up here, but with LEDs being so cheap everybody has switched to them and made the ACLs redundant.

There is a box set up for him of spare parts, the Warn winch owners' book, those lights and other stuff I no longer need.
I will take it down south when I go on 2 April. It is only a 20 minute drive from his house to where I will be staying when I go.

Not much else on my plate for today.

Have a safe day all

29 outside this AM. Heading to 60's. Wind seems to have died down.

Need to find out what got into me yesterday as I had not been that focused or motivated in a while working on the Milk Palace, LOL. The wife got some really cool lights, and the place is turning into the industrial farm house look. Especially with the concrete walls and wood (painted) ceiling. It was stained at one point, then grey, then white. The paint has split in areas to give a nice look.

Today I will make the final assessments and plans for the plumbing. Getting water to the building will involve a lot of digging and I am hopeful to find an old drain tile or two.
I think I have found a water heater that will fit into the old chimney stack area. We are still debating if we will tear it down. That will require roof (metal standing seam) work.

All in all, a good effort yesterday.

Trying to keep up with some of you all is impossible, speaking to David and RS... man you all are motivated and have talent. :)

For those battling the weather, be safe, Do not over do the physical stuff.

I have a feeling our flowers took a major hit this early AM with the cold.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe. Get or stay well.

good morning all
30 out now going up to 59 in sunshine, should be a very nice day.

have lots to do, meeting old friend for breakfast in Newtown, then get my car washed there, since
they have the best car wash around, and then off to accountant to pick up tax returns. I haven't seen him for
about 10 years, since I left for NC, so decided way overdue. He is lifetime member in same Quaker Meeting I am and despite
being offered free returns from my accountant brother, I still use the other guy after all these years. I could easily do my returns myself
and so far, knock on wood, have never been audited for anything.

then this afternoon landlady comes over for tea, and to check out the rv, and to talk about spring flowers. She is an avid gardener and wants
to see where my tulips will be coming up. I told her she had the job for two weeks I was away of guarding tulips from deer, and she just laughed.
Around here, no fence, not many flowers....my first year here I surrounded them all with an electric fence, that worked, but kind of ugly in front of house.

found my flag sitting by front door. I think it must have blown off in high winds and landed at a neighbors. Nice someone returned it to me.
I have a new one to put up which I'm hoping will work better, one with the rotary pole mount that allegedly spins to keep flag level. Current one keeps getting
blown up on roof, gets caught in gutter, and a pain to get down. Upping my game here with nicer flag and pole. And yes the flag is US made.
I've been procrastinating about doing this because it means taking off old mount, which is all painted in and a mess, and installing new wall mount.
Now that it's warmer out in the afternoon, sounds like a project to get to.

now the age old problem of what to do with the old flag, we've talked about this before. If I put it in recycling do you think
the trash guys will do the right thing?....

Rip, the Milk Palace sounds wonderful, keep those pics coming

Hope you get better soon. Paxlovid worked for me.
Yep, all well, after just the first evening dose last night, but I'm supposed to finish the remaining 4.5 days. There is an evening dose of 3 pills and a morning dose of 3 pills x 5 in the box.
My wife woke up last night with 101˚ after testing negative yesterday but she feels fine this morning. I hope that is it and we are through with the covid. The Dr. said yesterday do not get a booster for 5 months and he also said that I might as well wait till the Fall when they will probably come out with a new booster.

Any VFW or American Legion should have a place set aside for flags and they will do the disposal for you.

Good morning to all. Still awaiting some rainfall here in Central Texas. It is way too dry! Possible severe later I heard, but if you are from around here, many times that translates to nothing. The forecasters will tell you after it happens.

USAF Air Mobility Command (olde timer name Military Airlift Command, MAC). A beast, the Lockheed C5-M Super Galaxy. Internal dimensions are approximately 13 1/2 feet tall, 19 feet wide and 143+ feet long. The interior (2,700+ sq ft) is much larger than my house, and I sure do not have 19-foot ceilings. Have deployed / transported in them. Smooth rides but depending on what cargo there is can feel cramped.

Hope all are safe and enjoy the day!

Morning all, cloudy and 29 going up to 58.....
Not much done yesterday due to day job.
Sleeping better with new medicine regimen.

Son is home sick today.

Well, back to the day job,

Be well,

Worked for me too. Tastes awful, but I really only lost one day.
Yes, I had that awful taste also, thanks for mentioning it, I was wondering if it was the Paxlovid.

Took another covid test this morning, I'm still positive and my wife is still negative. She did read where 50 of 700 people who had covid will test negative because their immune system is working well and you are not shedding the virus, or they took the test too early, or you had a bad test.

Good morning, 32 going to to 59 today with some periods of sun and seems the wind had died down.

Got my appointments set up for PT for the shoulder. Those places are busy but found one two weeks out.

Not wanting to break up the shoulder I am limiting it to lifting no more than cup of coffee and using left arm for anything heavier. But it limits me in what I can do. Frustrating

The Cielo Breeze Plus thermostat was delivered yesterday and got it set up and working. Works after some startup problems and using the app on iPhone is convenient. It can change the delta drop in temp before turning on and set up changes for different times of day.

Mostly, got some more details from daughter on the guy that followed and harassed her. He started to shadow her on her walk and came closer and closer in a not well lighted area. He started to talk to her and she told him to get lost. He called her bad names and looked aggressive. Her dog a 6 month old lab puppy started to growl got agitated keeping him outside the reach of the leash. A man from a nearby area came over and helped her to get him to walk away.

Daughter got her promotion to GS 14 in civil service yesterday

I have used spray gun for Fluid film to undercoat the truck. Getting it by the gallon is cheapest way

Good Morning
Chilly this morning, but wind has relented, and it’s going to warm up.

I did make progress in the shop yesterday, was able to seal up the garage door into the house by adjusting the the threshold and tweaking the existing weatherstrip. It is a metal door and the weatherstripping is magnetic, but was just painted, preventing it from expanding against the door. Last chore of the day was discovered when I tried to close the overhead door in the garage at bedtime. It wouldn’t go down, and acted as there was an object blocking the photocells across the doorway. I ended up removing the blue in wires to the photocells, cleaning up the pins with scotchbrite and treating both halves of the connector with DeOxit. That did the trick, door closed normally.

Today will be back in the shop, looks like I will be off to Punta Gorda tomorrow and back to Ohio on Saturday, slowing my progress over there.

When I tested positive wife was testing negative. I took the full course of Paxlovid bad taste and all and got better quick. Later wife was tested for antibodies for the virus and was found that she was positive meaning she had the virus even when testing negative at the time.

Don, get better fast!
Speed Queen washer price: The president is going to sign more green into washing machines, so my friend went out and got his mom a new SQ washer. We researched and came up with the fact that you have to buy the higher priced "Top Load Classic Clean" if you want the good old school heavy duty model. The newer ones that are cheaper don't have an agitator. They spin the basin back and forth, and the wash cycle takes about 30 minutes longer. My friend asked the lady at the store "Which model do I need if I really need my dirty clothes to get cleaned?" She said, "You need the classic." The price is now $1479. Ouch. I don't remember how long ago I bought mine, but it was $799. back then.

I have a leak in my buried water supply line behind. I have a 2" mainline coming in, and it has a Tee that comes off to a 3/4" line. I was hoping it was the 3/4 broken, but no such luck. The Tee is cracked. I'll have to cut the 2" pipe and buy a sliding connector to repair that.
Apollo 2 in. x 2 in. PVC Slide Repair Coupling PVCC2SL - The Home Depot

Then I hope to switch the 3/4 to PEX for flexibility. Researching Sharkbites, which need to be wrapped in silicone tape if direct buried.

I dread the day my 25 year+ old farmhouse washer and dryer die. I already replaced the heating element on the dryer...the washer...it stinks. Literally. Don't let your clothes dry in it. LOL. Seems the bleaching/vinegar treatments are just not effective anymore.

The other pair I have, I abhor... front loads, too much electronic gadgetry, bells and whistles I don't need, warnings I don't agree with, and...quality that reeks of a obsolescent lifespan of some sort.

I could probably wash my clothes on rocks and be happier. But I am sure the downstream neighbors will have something to say. LOL

Good Morning - currently 38° going to 66°

Drew - just like Lou said -- take to local VFW or American Legion.. Down here they all have a nice wooden or metal box in the parking lot that you can put flag in and they will take care of it..

Hope everyone has a nice day..

Mark

Good morning! Low of 35°, an 1/8" of rain in the gauge. 80% chance of showers today, becoming snow showers overnight. Maybe 2" of snow expected. High today only 40°.
Tomorrow should be ok, then more light rain / snow showers Sat. and Sun. Hopefully winter's last hoorah!

Don, hope you continue to feel better and the wifey too!

Drew, sounds like the RV upgrades are working out nicely.

Kilroy, the fight has just begun!
I went through the same scenario a few years back.... took a couple days fighting with them without success. Found a pair of tires / wheels on ebay for cheap..... cut the old ones off and had the new ones on within an hour.....

I started watching a local auctioneer here.... there is an auction coming up with a few goodies of interest. Pallet forks, a 30" portable sawmill, 3 pt. Tiller, 3 pt. Chipper, and a 14x20' metal shed building. All new in crates.
Lots of other big equipment.

I have watched some of their auctions before and most prices go higher than what you get the item for from a dealer.... can't figure out why that happens.....

Everyone have a great day!

forgot to answer a prior question....these pages fly by
am using a simple cheap one gallon plastic pump sprayer for the fluid film. Doesn't clog the nozzle at all.

picked up tax returns, no surprises there. Got my car washed and had a nice breakfast with friend.
Too much breakfast actually, no interest in lunch right now.
landlady coming at 2pm so last little bit of picking up to do.
We will head outside to inspect the newly planted strawberries, which are next to the blackberries and blueberries.
And then to wonder which of all those little tulips will make it.

couch pillows came in for rv, got them plumped up and positioned. Transferred 5 pound ABC fire extinguisher from car to rv, always good to have a second
one. Storage lockers pretty full now, need some reconfiguring so most often used stuff is in front vs just packed in there.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 8:30AM in Lompoc, CA. Sun and clouds mixed. High 62F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
It's been pretty wet here, with 3/4" of rain yesterday and more the day before. We'll have dry weather for the weekend and more rain next week. These storms are out of Hawaii, much warmer than the Alaska storms earlier in the year. Sure is a nice change.

Death Valey was very nice as well, with blue skies and highs in the lower 80s. Met up with some good friends, made some new ones, and ate too much. Par for the course.

Here are some photos from in and around Death Valley:

Nothing much of interest on the real estate market this trip, but new listings pop up every week.

Truck ran great on the trip, but then stumbled and died yesterday when I went to run errands. It cranks strongly, but just won't start. I noticed oil in the valley of the engine, and it looks like it's coming from the high pressure oil lines I replaced a couple months ago. Probably not enough to cause the current cranks-but-no-start problem. Not so easy fix if it is, but I touched base with a local mechanic that can handle the repair if I can't. The pinion seal on the rear differential is also leaking, so I might let him do that as well. I'll get a call back later today to see how long before he can start, so this might be an extended Lompoc stay. Good thing I can cook to help cover my keep!

The washing machine was conked out when we got back from Death Valley, so my friend and I fooled around with it and finally got it going again yesterday. Put in a new motor coupling and a clutch, and all seems good so far. Fix one thing, something else comes along and needs fixin', too.

Hopelessly behind again, so I hope you are all doing well...
