Good morning all, 31 this morning but going to 50 today very nice day coming our way

Talked to granddaughter at the hospital yesterday. She is stabilized and being treated. She is in good spirits and grandmother was happy to have a long talk with her.

Daughter's meetings in Europe went well and she is staying over with friends in England for a few days. Oundle is a nice old town where she used to live when on assignment for army intelligence unit.

Don, good for you learning Spanish. I was scheduled one time to go to Taiwan and took Mandarin classes. That was a lot harder than learning German and English for me anyway.

Got notified yesterday from AT&T that the cell tower outage will be over on Feb 4 so hopefully we will have service again.

Ted, hope you will find someone for a second opinion on the knee.

Good evening all. 29ºF for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Light to moderate wind, mostly clear sky, and high temp was 60ºF. Putter in morning , then trip to Fort Wort to retrieve my fish finder. They said it needed updating, from their description sounds like OS needed refreshing. Wife cam along so had lunch at Applebees, gas up at Costco 2.99/gal., 2 weeks ago gas was 2.65/gal :( Did get bike ride in, Trek needed some TLC, should be ok in morning.
Buppies good to hear you and wife are home safe.

Higgins was known for the landing craft, but also built other vessels, up to small freighters. There were several PT builders - just a bit a ways from where I lived was Electric Lighter Company in Bayonne, NJ. PT109 was built there. The boatyard succumbed to the CondoCommandos about two decades ago, but the cantilever crane was moved a couple miles north to a county park and is preserved with some info displays.

if you ever are in New Orleans, the National D-Day Museum is a must-see, and it is in the original Higgins building.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Bird !

31F and clear @ 06:30, supposedly heading up to around 43F for the high.

Hard keeping up on here.

Got the deer, hopper, and both tube feeders refilled yesterday, also 2 suet feeders. Lots of activity. Need to do the one right outside the kitchen window.

Some more research and design work done.

Need to go over to the barn later this afternoon and dig out some wood pieces/parts for various projects ... which are starting to pile up.

Good thoughts for all those that are ailing.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday ... (y)

28 and clear going to 58.

Happy Birthday, Bird!

Hope you get to feeling better, Alien.

RS, up early? or not gone to bed yet?

Went out before sunrise to run the tractor yesterday so I could move a heavy pallet of firewood...Ground not quite frozen enough, but it helped. Later, drove the tractor back into the woods to cut down a dead oak...more rounds than I could fit on my woodbox, so I have another load, maybe pick it up today if I split everything I already have in the box and move to an empty pallet.

My warranty-replacement hiking boots came while I was cutting firewood, so I'll need to take them for a hike today. I see the Skyline Drive finally re-opened completely...most has been closed since the December ice storm hit.

I did pull the plug the pan wasn’t over enough and a bunch of oil got on the floor and my hand and made a real mess, probably the messiest oil change I’ve ever gone. 150k on the Subaru.
Seems 9 times out of 10 I drop the plug in the oil pan than try and find it.

Happy Birthday Bird!

Returned to the cottage Thursday, and found 6-8 inches of snow in the driveway. Blew it out late yesterday, and got a good start in the rental property before it got too dark. Daughter shoveled the (50’) deck and all the way down to the lake, and half the dock - she loved shoveling snow!

Good the be back on the tractor again, and more snow coming for the next few days.

May drive in to Huntsville today for some groceries - and more mousetraps from HD - the little devils invaded while I was gone, and I can’t figure out where they are getting in!

Have a nice Saturday everyone!

Good Morning
34 and going to top 45 under a bright sun today.

Yesterday I got the new sandwich prep Bain Marie set up. It was an inch shorter than the old one, so the shelf unit that was on the old one didn’t fit. My solution was to cut and bend a piece of stainless to make it wider. I am quite impressed with how well the Makita cordless metal cutting circular saw works. Cut that 12ga stainless like butter. So it’s all set now.

My Verizon battle is officially over for now. UPS brought the new extenders yesterday, got them hooked up via coax as planned, every thing works well now. Smoking fast WI-FI everywhere including the shop.
Ground is still a marsh, making it impossible to do anything outside off the pavement. But the majority of the old projection TV is gone, the toters were empty as well as the additional Brute can full of cabinet that I put out Thursday.

Music went well last night, not the usual guys, but locals that have all played together before.

Happy birthday Bird!

Happy birthday Bird. Good to hear from you.

I got oil changed on Subaru. Had trouble getting drain plug out. Was in a hurry and used 12 pT instead of 6 and messed it up some.

This is one case where SnapOn shows it’s value, especially with smaller 12pt sockets (under 3/4-19mm). They will work on a hex that has already been rounded by a lesser socket. Above that size, they’re not really worth the cost. My tools range from SnapOn to HF depending on the application.

RS, up early? or not gone to bed yet?

Yeah.

LOL ...

Went to bed very early yesterday evening, then woke up just before 01:00.

I had been up more than 24 hours straight the day before.

Enjoy the new boots ... and the hike ... ;)

37 outside this AM. Heading to mid 50's.

Nothing I want to do today is on the agenda. It's a honey do list. I think I will stay back today and let the SO go find her lights for the Milk House. Maybe then I can do what needs to be done. LOL. I have furniture showing up and the place is not yet ready for that. I guess the SO is a little ahead of me.

I blame it (my lack of progress) on the weather. The real story is, me, myself and I just cannot do everything. No excuses, but darn.

Hope all have a good weekend. Be safe.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High 58F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Rain on and off in the 10-day, but all light showers.

I get pretty bent, too, Ted, when the insurance company inserts itself between me and my medical provider. At my last physical, the MD spent more time whining about insurance companies than he did discussing my health.

I'm curious, Billy, what make and model boot did you have to warranty?

Spent way too much time setting up the warranty replacement network video recorder (NVR) yesterday. The backup I made from the old one should have transferred over all the settings, but the NVR used an older version of software that wouldn't update. Had to reset one camera, the one up at the top of the water tank and a fifteen foot climb on a ladder. And still have one cam that refuses to join the party, and the tech support request has been "escalated". Last time that happened they said send it back if it's still under warranty, and if not, they can't help. This morning I noticed there's a new version of NVR software available. Only a day too late.

While I was resetting that camera, I checked the water level in the new tank. Or tried to. An enterprising woodpecker had jammed the small inspection port with acorns and I couldn't get it to unscrew. Had to take the whole cover off instead. And found that the water level was well below where the float switch should have triggered the well pump. So back down to the pump, and it's getting power, so I've got a bad feeling it's new pump time. Something to add to the todo list for next week, and probably a major hit to the budget.

Before I went to work on cleaning up the wood pile, I checked the pressure on the tire that is eating valve stems. It was down five pounds from the day before, so there's a slow leak somewhere. Nothing obvious sticking out of the tire, but there are a lot of cuts from sharp rocks and sticks. Just need to pull the wheel off again and make up a big batch of soapy water to find the leak. In the mean time I'll just keep pumping it back up each time I use the tractor. Which I did, getting another ten feet or so of wood cleaned off the pile. Still more to go.

Got a letter from the county planning comission letting me know that my closest neighbor is now permitted to rent their premises out for short stays, like AirBnB. That probably explains why I've been finding unfamiliar cars and stray dogs in the security cam footage. Not very happy about the increased traffic or more strangers in the neighborhood, either. Even more upset that the county didn't even let anyone know they were going to start issuing those kind of permits. I would have been at that supervisors meeting to ream 'em a new one.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning all,
It is presently 44F with sunny skies after an overnight low of 32. Todays forecast is for a high of 53, sunny skies and light winds.

The pup misses Liz and was a bit clingy yesterday. Last night she was fidgeting all night, spent most of it on me so neither one of us slept well. We stayed in bed in a bit this morning and I'm just now heading for coffee.

Contractor got all the poles in place, braced and ready for concrete. Concrete truck scheduled for 0800 Monday, but it is scheduled to be raining Monday morning, clearing in the afternoon. I'm not sure what is actually going to happen Present schedule is for wall truss panels to arrive on Tuesday and to start installing them on Wednesday after cement has had a chance to set up a bit.

Finished fixing the wiring that was not to code.

Electrician gave me a price of $251 to install the 1.5" PVC stub out for the barn. That is for one length of PVC, glue up 2 fittings and 2 temporary caps to keep junk out of the pipe. Seems a bit steep to me. He also wanted $2600 to run the power 140' from my shop to my barn. I think I have a few more calls to make.

Security camera and new wireless router came in yesterday, will spend some time getting them working and mounted. Which should be interesting as the camera wants a wired network connection to set it up and I don't have a computer with an Ethernet wired connection, only wireless.

Have a good day all. Let's be careful out there.

Good morning! 50˚F cloudy, South wind, heading to the mid 60s.

Having fun trying to figure out the measurements on the EGO tiller attachment that will fit on my EGO edger head before I order. They range from 8, 8.5", 9.5 to 10" but I think they are all exactly the same blades just different directions of measurements.

When I get rid of the gasoline tiller the only gasoline needed will be for my small Yamaha generator. All of my yard and garden equipment will be battery powered.

The Spanish app sent my weekly report - 9.5 hours and exposed to 76 new words this week. (My wife had 11.5 hours)
