What lathe do you have? Mrs let my buy one last year - I am still learning. . . Generally I am taking perfectly good pieces of metal and making them into Brillo Pads 🤣

It’s a Craftsman 12”x36”. Bought it while I was training to be Toolmaker in the mid 60’s. It came with six gallon buckets of tools. Including a mill attachment. Area around lathe has been cleaned up. Original owner used it to make/repair clocks.
Cross-feed drive gear wore out a couple years ago. Was able to buy new parts for it.

Good morning! 18 now and sunny, May get to 38 today. Never got to 30 yesterday, we went to dinner last evening and I got cold when we were leaving. Was at home before I got warm again.

Trip to FL went fine. Excellent racing. Looks like I am not helping the guy I have assisted for a number of years, they hired a full time mechanic. So I got to watch more and socialize more. One of the consistent top 5 racers wants to race my bike at an Ohio track! Stay tuned.

Acquired a ”Genuine SC Tire Nail“ on the way home. That turned into a fiasco as the rim didn’t want to separate from the hub. Finally got it off, needed new tires anyway so got all 4 replaced this week.

Not been a real productive week, maybe next week will go better.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Morning all, 30 going up to 42 and the sun is up.
Son got wrong day for charity at church, it's next weekend. This at the church in Yardley on lake Afton. Really neat little church on a lake.

Spent some time yesterday at HD, got some fixtures and a new drywall t-square-have to go check if it's really square before I use it, and some more drywall and electrical stuff.

When I got back from HD I was kinda wiped out, still not back to normal. Gotta go do some ceiling cuts to see if I can run the wire around the insulation and under the headers.

Buppies - Happy Anniversary and many more happy ones!

Actuator for heat/cool on drivers side for jeep is shot, new one on order. Should be a 2-3 hours job since so much has to be disassembled. Did passenger side a year or so ago.

Waiting for wife to get up, son is at friends. Might get some work done today. Off tomorrow for MLK day. Maybe get Chinese tonight.

Be well,

Nice! I got a South Bend 9A Toolroom lathe with the taper attachment. it came with a dog plate and a small 3 jaw and a fairly complete set of 3C collets, and the small milling attachment. When it gets warm again (unheated shop and YES I thoroughly oil everything for the winter with way oil) I have to machine/mate a 4jaw Chuck and maybe add a QC tool post - the lantern is a PITA for someone with ZERO formal training (mrpete222 on YouTube is my Shop Teacher now).

65°F and no rain, but showers predicted.

Guess wx will determine if I get my last section erected or watch some football. Would prefer getting that last section up, but not if raining. Haven’t even checked to see who is playing.

Had a very nice dinner out with friends. I seldom get steak out but opted for the ribeye and it was very good.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 6:15AM. Showers this morning, becoming a steady rain during the afternoon hours. High near 50F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70%.
Might get some sunshine toward the end of the week, but for now it's just rain and rainier.

I had speeds like that when I first set Starlink up here, KJC, now they're generally below 10Mbps. Stuff still works fine, but I do see buffering on occasion.

Got the valve stems from my neighbor yesterday morning before it started raining, and installation was a breeze. Got the wheel and tire up on the mounting machine, but the bead was so thick and stiff the machine couldn't handle it. Got another neighbor with a lot of heavy equipment experience to come over. He brought a really long tire iron with him, and the bead was on in no time. Had to use a ratchet strap around the tire to get the beads to seat, though. He's a big guy, and had the wheel mounted on the tractor before I could get out there with the torque wrench. It took all my strength to get that wheel up on the mounting machine, so I really appreciated his effort.

He noticed oil under the truck, and asked if it was from the valley between the two cylinder heads. Yes, been leaking up there for some time. Showed me the lines to the high pressure oil pump, and they were leaking. Ordered a kit with replacement lines, and found a video or two on the procedure. First step will be cleaning the engine with the hot water washer, after it stops raining.

Got some paperwork that has been pestering me done, and actually found a bit more room on the desktop. Need to do more of the same out in the shop. More of the same today.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.
I was able to buy a set of tire tools from surplus military place including wood box. Next time I get up to the barn I will take a picture of it

Good morning to all! Low was only 34°, heading to a high of 45°. Temps then dropping with the forecast rain / snow moving in. Windy already, since about 02:00. Strongest gust was 37 mph. Wind supposed to continue until this evening.

Buppies, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Wishing you and your bride many more trips together.

Kilroy, congrats on a successful install! Hope the speeds continue to improve.

Scaredy, hang in there.... sounds like you're staying on top of a bad situation.

RNG, glad you got the tire back on..... sounded like a bit of a struggle. Not enough air pressure?

Ron, nice lathe! Looks to be a good tool. Made heavy back then.

Didn't get to do any of the list yesterday..... went over to visit another member from here. Spent over 4 hours touring his grounds, talking about gardens, tress, and of course, tractors! He has a really nice place and equipment.
By the time I got home, dinner was ready. Homemade Italian meatloaf and stuffed 'roll-ups' (basically lasagna noodles rolled up with stuffed ricotta cheese, smothered in sauce). Was delicious.

Too stuffed, too tired, too late to get started on any projects. It was a good "hookey" day. Today probably another day to do nothing.....

Everyone have a peaceful Sunday!

We have never seen speeds above 2.7mbps here, so for our purposes I think of it stays above 7mbps we should be golden 🤣😂
