Good Morning
It’s 45 with a high of 55, rain likely, and it’s a grey day already.

Yesterday was pretty unremarkable, watched the puppy grow, cleaned up in the shop, went out to lunch, and repeated the morning.

We got Zoe a bone that she can grow into….

Today I’ve got to see if I can get an FAA physical ASAP, I screwed up and mine expired Sunday. Actually it didn’t expire, it just downgrades to a lower class that won’t let me fly charters.
That’s my priority for the day, hopefully I can get it done.

Good morning! 56˚F heading to the mid 70s with a slight west wind, partly cloudy.

Mostly,l I was told I might be called up in the Spring, late March, for the Easter festival.

As I was driving the tractor toward the construction site on my last day I was visualizing the food trailers 12' in the air on top of the piers and that would make them appear too be in the trees. So I had an idea that I shared with the management and they might go with it as an unique feature at the Farm. It would fit in with the "adventure" theme of the "Farm". A Tree House Food Court.

Heading to my garden this morning to see if it is salvageable after the 12˚F night a few weeks ago. I did not cover the plants but when it gets that low, unless you have a heat source, even the covered plants freeze. If not savable I'll till it and start thinking about the spring planting. Potatoes go in the ground in 45 days. FireWise clearing starts back up next week after the holidays break. I've neglected trail maintenance and should check with them also.

Good Morning all, another day on this Paradise we call earth,
It is presently 58F under hazy skies, forecast high of 62, light winds and clouds increasing.

Started yesterday with a long overdue session with the washer/dryer, all caught up now.

I hate it when that happens... trimmed off the branches of the tree I downed the other day, cut the trunk into manageable pieces. THEN went to trim the stump down to ground level, last cut of the project and hit a nail in the middle of the stump. So much for having a freshly sharpened chain.

Today's mission, clean up the mess from cutting up the tree and taking the pup for her walk. I have been neglecting to walk her for the last few days and she is getting antsy. She has spent time running around the yard while I am working outside but she likes to go for a walk with me and misses it. Silly dog.

Be safe everyone.

Rainy 48º going to about 58º today. Light rain predicted all day. Tomorrow scattered showers. Thurdays big rain event, possibly another inch between now and that event. Mountains getting feet upon feet of snow. Rivers gullies and streams flowing again. Sure is a relief to see. Rain is such a capricious thing in So Cal. I've seen annual rainfall from 3 to 30 inches. Hopefully we end up someplace inbetween. 14" is our average. I think we have 6-7 inches so far this season.

good morning all
46 in light rain, going up to high 50's in clouds and showers.
My day is committed indoors. First cleaning lady comes so I'll be puttering before she shows up, then
to escape her noise I hide in the office, and....has to be done. The big box of paper crap is today's goal.
All tax receipts, throw out the useless stuff, etc.

meanwhile have some important calls to make.
First to rv dealer. Hmmmm, think I found something affordable.
Have been brooding over spending all that money on train ticket.
this may be too small and cheesy but my Volvo can pull it, and it's built by the Amish in Indiana.
would be the smallest rv I've owned. But pulling vehicle, my Volvo, is super comfortable, and paid for...
Plus I figure I could sell this pretty easily when done with it. As inexpensive as it is, depreciation not that much.
Plus it fits right behind my house in the new parking place. I'd have to put the trailer behind the garage.
2022 Sunset Park Rv Sun-Lite Classic 18RD For Sale in Adamstown - RV Trader

I was attracted to this model by their use of wood finish inside, the knotty pine look I haven't seen elsewhere.
It's fake of course, the question is how fake? Shiny fake?...
going to take a ride out to see it, about two hours away, will pick up my friend in Lederach and keep going West.
He's 6'3" and a good guy to take along to see what fits. Plus he is recovering from cancer and really needs a guys outing.
He's also an antique dealer and jokingly I'm taking him along to evaluate the patina and finish of the fake wood..... ;)
Things to consider: Towing capacity of the Volvo, Air conditioner type for heating as well ie inverter?, Quality of heating system and appliances are usually not the best. Roof sealing system. Tire ratings are usually very close to capacity. Try to get a cover included for when parked to protect. Propane tanks big enough? Fridge using 3 way ie 12 volt, 120 volt and propane. Leveling system? and I can go on

Finally got weather station moved to Starlink router. The router shows it connected, but no data being passed yet.
Turns out there’s a different app for the setup, then the app to view the data.
Very weak signal though.

2nd project, wife’s hair dryer stopped working. On off switch won’t move. After taking handle apart and seeing there wasn’t anything to fix other than getting a new switch, which is unlikely to find one to match, she then told me it smelled like something burning. New hairdryer ordered.

Cat asleep on my lap. Guess UPS battery replacement will have to wait, probably a 5 min job at most.

Lightning (cloud to ground - close too), 31 degrees, heavy rain, hail/sleet. Lovely January Iowa weather... Nowhere for the rain to go, with this frozen ground. Expecting transition to snow tonight, about an inch "they" say. I think I'll do laundry and figure out the new Oregon sawchain sharpener. Dog just reminded me that he does NOT like thunder...

Good morning to all! Low of 27°, going up to around 40°. Chance of flurries this afternoon. Dusting of snow overnight. Top wind gust was 25 mph, so happy about that!

Drew, If possible, check one of these:

The bed stays set up, plenty of room to move around, and weighs 1000K less. The tanks are also larger than most of the similar sized RV's. This is an updated version of the 2014 one we used to have. Towed real nice with our Jeep.

Don, neat pics of the farm. Hope you get to do the spring time rides.

Dennis, sorry to read about the trouble with the weather station. Hopefully a simple fix / setup.

Wng, hope you found the leak. We had a leak at the old house.... found it was actually just one screw that lost its seal..... surprised how much seepage occurred from one screw!

Need to run some errands with the wifey today. Just a few stops, all local, so should be easy. Might try to grill up some steaks for dinner.... the menu is still undecided however....

Everyone have a great day!

Frits, I've owned a lightweight Jayco, land of the stapled walls, and have limited expectations.
will likely have to use aftermarket levelers. Not a heat pump, so has one of those noisy gas furnaces. I ignore them and use electric space heaters.
I'm always at a campside with plenty of power, not going to burn up my propane for heat if I can avoid it. I can pack an extra 30 pound tank in tow car.
Also issue of small storage, I think one small pass through underneath.
has a small solar panel and inverter. I don't dry camp so really not an issue. If I go to my friend's cabin in catskills, will take a small inverter gen with me.
30 amp service, easy to power.

Buying RVs you can at times find better values in used where a better quality RV can be had for reasonable money. A well stored RV even 10 years old that was a quality RV when purchased can be a good buy because you will get fewer shortcuts in the construction.

64°F and no rain

Actually uncovered a horizontal surface out in the tractor shed. Goal is to find another 1 or 2 today.

Good time at Happy Hour. The homemade Gumbo was fabulous. Brought home a jar of the broth for lunch. If lucky there may be half a shrimp in it. The crew was pretty adept fishing out all the goodies.

My brownies a hit as well.

More progress in tractor shed today.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

trying to decide if worth driving downtown just to buy a powerball ticket, in the rain.
I'm not feeling all that lucky...
Sounds like you know what to expect. Just a heads up for you
thanks. Only Airstream and a few other builders have decent construction.
All the component parts are cheap, same stuff I've dealt with over 30 years boating.
yes, inexpensive roof membrane, at least not so tall I can't caulk it myself. My experience has showing the
worth of getting dealer to go over it carefully, particularly the roof, one year after buying. See what has moved, if anything.
Then I think every three years the roof will need to be caulked.
So much of this is like boating, always trying to keep the water out.

totally agree on value of used rv. Sort of typifies getting the bugs out.
Lightweight construction that gets shaken around on simplistic suspensions over bridge abutments on Rt 95.
What could go wrong?

the bag of tools for the rv has to be comprehensive. Only a matter of time before water starts leaking out of bottom
of bathroom vanity. I doubt this thing is made with PEX. That's something I'm going to look for.
Always have to add a better shower head, one that energizes dismal water pressure into something almost adequate....
And a foam topper for bed. And, and....
I think I have now bought the same silly little plastic dish drainer from Camco three times...

I will stop at other local dealer, Fretz, who is closer, and see what Jayco has also. Pretty sure price of diesel has put a crimp on some rv plans out there.
For last two years dealers have sold out of almost everything. Not any more.

58F with light rain @ 11:30, heading up to around 63F.

If we hit that it will break the previous record of 60F which was set in 2000.

We didn't get jack done yesterday - ended up being "Movie Monday" and a completely lazy day.

Well, The Woman did do some dishes ... and I did move some boxes to the basement.

And the cat beasts all got fed of course. Ain't no way they're going to let us skip out on that.

I think today will be different.

Woman said something about going to the grocery store.

I'm pretty sure that's not because we really need anything, more that it's just a habit.

We are almost out of cat treats ... so that definitely needs remedied.

Recycle bin here at the house is full and next week is the pick up for that so it needs taken up.

I think I'll venture out and get that one plant stuck in the ground.

Probably get the feeders refilled as well while I'm out there.

Other than that, need to dole out the meds for another week.

And given the temps, probably get some more work done out in the garage.

New air purifier is due in from Amazon.

Any old port in a storm as the saying goes:

Hope everyone has a decent Tuesday ... (y)

looks lot a lot of rain. Front of system coming up into VA and MD soon.
Think I'll go downtown, buy my powerball ticket so I can dream,
and get a burger and fries parked by the main road, watching the town drive by.
A favorite activity, across from Wawa and post office. Great view from elevated McDonald's lot.

I wonder what I can order there that will be healthy. That may be an active stretch of the imagination.

As a child, where the current small shopping center and McDonalds is, was an open field where the fair came to town.
They had rides but no ferris wheel. Had to go to Willow Grove to see a ferris wheel at Willow Grove Park.
The fair hasn't come to town in a while. Many of those traveling shows have real issues with quality of animal care.
I bet PETA follows every circus train...which I think have finally died off.

My BIL used to be a clown for Ringling and his wife a trapeze artist. Those were the days.
I thought the elephants were the best. I went to so many shows since my first wife loved the circus and wanted to support her
younger brother. As many do, he fell and totally shattered one foot. And they could never put humpty dumpty back together well enough
and he knew his circus days were over. He actually went into management for awhile.
I need to look him up. He drives the interlibrary book van in his sixties. Sounds like a good gig.

Almost as good as Don's.

Only .06” of rain here, and radar shows it’s about done.
Got UPS batteries changed and charging. Had a little problem putting cover back on, seems a wire on bottom kept sliding under battery to keep it a little high. Had to hold wire with needle nose while putting battery in. Will let it charge about 4 hrs before putting load on it.

Weather station now reporting.

I have tried a lot of Samuel Smith’s brews and enjoyed them all. I have a S. Smith’s Imperial Stout waiting it’s turn in the the fridge

(y)

Will have to see about giving that Imperial Stout a try next time we're over near Primo's Deli.
