Need help --- which battery powered chain saw should I take a look at... 40v - 80v --for use around the house for occasional limbs..

Coffee is brewing. 34° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 43° with more clouds. Went to local welding shop to refill Argon Tank. Brought it back home and tried to fire up Mig Welder. Could not get wire to feed properly. Ended up with a ball of wire on the floor. Need to replace gun liner. Its on order. Gives me something to do today. Cleanup the shop again.
I have only named one critter that comes to my feeders. This is yellow ears.

Mark, I have a Ryobi 40V 14" because I have other Ryobi 40V tools. After 2 years of use I give it 5 stars. I bought a factory blemished one from this site.

34 outside right now, be lucky of we get to 50. Rain supposed to move in.

Need to move some deer carcasses off the property. One right by the mailbox. Seems it was a bad night for them last night. Saw them on the way home from the airport.

Mostly, we don't do cats. I don't like them that much that they will be in the house on my lap. Wife on the other hand, well all creatures and people are drawn to her. Something special about her spirit or something. Me, animals practice avoidance. As do some people. LOL.

BEF, good luck on the retirement. Remember, pace yourself. One thing at a time.

Wood stove is out, so it is tend to the animals and go gather some twigs time.

My agenda is clear, looking for another electrician. Timing, price and availability seem to be an issue, as usual. Prices are ridiculous. These quotes I have gotten for the Milk House are thousands of dollars in differences. I always tell the wife, some see the place and shoot for the moon. It's close to 30 years of hard labor here. LOL. H A R D labor.

several days of wet weather coming in, at least its a little warmer now

on the chain saws, for lighter work, don't forget the Homelite cordless. Not cheap, none of the good ones are, but
homelite has the patented self sharpening chain. Well, you push a handle down and a top mounted stone sharpens the chain.
And it really works. Just takes smaller bites than full size saw. this time around, I went with Makita. If I can't cut it with that saw, I'm likely to be
calling a pro anyway. Having a super sharp chain, if that is a peeve of yours, can be really nice.

less easy to find places to sharpen your chain. No one wants to do anything for less than twenty bucks...

problem with cordless is they aren't all that light after adding two batteries. I'd compare total weight if arm strength is an issue.

cleaning lady coming. I have a box of Godiva chocolates and a little cash, for her Christmas. Next scheduled time is a few days before Christmas, calling her off, it's a busy
time for housecleaners anyway. So she gets her xmas present today. Along with her/my new vacuum. I should look up what Merry Christmas is in Polish.

Buckeye, congrats on retirement. Retirement was a good thing for me. Try to retire as young as you can. Enjoy the things you want to do during retirement while you are younger and in good health.
One of the things I did was travel with my wife in our Motorhome. Got to meet other TBN’ers. Got a event memory from FB yesterday. It was when Txdon, Mike and I tested grapples on different tractors.

Good morning, 39 now going to 49 some rain in the forecast

Going in to town to pick up groceries with 25 percent off including the senior discount
Good day to get up in the barn to clean up tools and get it cleaned up after recent projects
Ordered a Dyson cordless from Costco to try out after all this chatting about vacuums
Hope it picks up fur from Cody well
Good thing about Costco it can be returned if it disappoints
I am close to buying a new gas powered chainsaw
The Makita is great for smaller stuff but still need a larger chainsaw for the bigger trees

Can't believe I just watched a half hour of chainsaw videos...probably no other tool catches my attention as much. Haven't gone the battery chain saw route, but I'm very impressed with them. Thanks for posting, RNG. I'm still running a Stihl MS 261 CM...after my 026 finally went to chainsaw heaven after 30+ years. Have had no problems with the new one, either...I really like it. I've been using a Timberline sharpener for a few years, which is good, but I'm not totally sold on it.

Went back to Green Front yesterday, and have now totally finished the furniture project.

But that means no hike yesterday, so must go in the rain today. Plus, lots of cardboard boxes to break down and take to the dump's recycle bin.

. I'm still running a Stihl MS 261 CM...after my 026 finally went to chainsaw heaven after 30+ years.

I did the same thing, replaced my 026 with the MS261. The 261 barely gets used nowadays, the go to is the Makita.
