Had a good time at neighbors. Much smaller crowd than usual. Mostly just their kids and grandkids, few others. Used to be a whole lot of her aunts and uncles would come. Best neighbors we could have. Even mommy snagglepuss was there, so I had to hold her some. Now her daughter pebbles is curled up on my lap, pellet stove just lit.

Good evening all. 39ºF for the start, windy, clear. Wind 14-27 mph, clear sky, and high temp was 52ºF. Bike ride to start day, wind got stronger before slowing down, saw 38ºF on GPS before warming occurred. 63.7 miles tired at end of ride. Lunch, nap and dinner. I like medium hard cookies, won't turn up nose at harder or softer cookies.

Good early morning. 32 and clear (except the skunk in our front yard) going to 48. More like December than yesterday's 60s.

LS, hope you're feeling better, and got that pizza. We were wanting pizza yesterday, so my wife made some personal size ones from naans...pretty tasty.

Assembly Day #4 today. I think I'll finish...but it's delayed me on roasting coffee, so I'm going to do that now. Otherwise, I'll run out tomorrow.

Good morning, low temp 18 and the high to 25°F. Zero wind. Flurries, they are saying 2-4 cm so about 3 inches give or take.

Tomorrow morning, early I have to take junior to North Bay for a pulmonary function test, whatever that is, so this afternoon I will decide if the snow is deep enough to plow.

Got a letter from the company I do the summer work for, they are crying for snow plow drivers. I'm not interested. I did my 'time' when I was a lot younger.

Is that the biggest log you've hauled BEF?

I got 25 face cords of 16" firewood (3 face to a bush cord) for this winter. With any kind of luck I will have about 3 or 4 face left over for next winter. This year was the first in 7 years that I have totally emptied the wood crib.
If I run out of wood, it is no big deal. I still have the oil furnace and a full tank of oil.

Other than maybe plow this afternoon, I don't think there is anything else on my plate.

Have a safe day all

Drinking hot coffee this morning. 14° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 37° with mostly sunny skies. Cleaned leaves out of garden ponds. Westerly winds sent rest of the leaves in field and woods to the east. Neighbor wanted a place to keep his 3 point hitch lynch pins for his Kubota BX tractor. I made a bracket that will mount on his Rollbar. Still needs some deburring and paint. Made a second one for a friend.
Full Moon for December is called Cold Moon. Full Moon will be Wednesday evening. Hope we have clear skies.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Ron, nicely done. Maybe paint them yellow...

Amazon confirmed my new vacuum cleaner was coming tomorrow.
Was using an old but effective cordless Makita vacuum, a little space age bubble thing they no longer make.
Runs off one battery, very loud but works wonderfully and has outstanding engineering. But....it falls over a lot, small wheels, why they
changed the design on next iteration, so it's getting pretty beat up looking. Had it whole time I was in NC.
Which while there I experimented with a full size Miele upright vac. Like a bulldozer, powerful but too heavy.

Miele makes vacs in Germany and China. I can afford the latter, the most basic one that still gets good reviews. Simple canister vac with no powerhead, just suction.
Cleaning lady brings a powerhead so I really don't need one. My memory of Miele is its very quiet.

grew up with an electrolux in the 50's. Shiny chrome looking metal thing I think on metal skids with small wheel option.
Then the next version got some color and maybe even a cord rewinder. Pretty sure that broke.
But motor never gave up. Electrolux bags were expensive, probably why it worked so well.
Have probably had three or four Hoover self propelled uprights over the years, they all get loud and break.

Shark seems to be a well rated brand. But for a canister that rolls, wanted something with more grunt.
Never owned a Dyson. Usually way too much money, but some get good reviews.

for once I can look at a machine and wish it to really suck.

That log was down over a bank and hard to get to. I can’t remember if I could lift it. It’s still down along my creek, with another large tree.

Morning tractor folks. Looks like it will be a nice day but colder. Mid 40s. Good air quality.

Some darned critter chewed off the wires on the outside Christmas lights. Pretty easy troubleshooting. May be harder fix. Four wires all green. Fortunately my wife had a spare string.

In case you were thinking of hitting the water next year this might be a nice family day boat. Hint hint hint Santa. :giggle:

Drew, I read that wages in China were going up (6$/hr) The days of cheap Chinese goods may be coming to an end. Get 'em while you can.

Have a great day

Chris

Good morning! 52˚F cloudy skies heading to the mid 50s.

Yesterdays cool tractor driving started out at 57˚ and ended with 56˚ with a good north wind blowing. Pleasant enough with a jacket. One customer had on short sleeve shirt and short pants and was immediately identified as a yankee. All the Texans were really bundled up for the breakfast with Santa. About 40 people sat outside with Santa, little campfires were provided. One employee was taking pics with a camera like Rons I'll see if she post them on the farms web page in a few days. The mudfield's rye grass sprouted and is green now, looks good. Last week they replanted the Christmas trees that died in the drought (about 400) with new saplings and I was glad to see them being hand watered yesterday. The trailer riders always seem so happy and the kids run to the tractor loading station for hundreds of yards. You would think the trailer is the most popular Disney ride. It does make for a pleasant job.

pics are the new rye grass with the breakfast being set up and the apple cannons where you can shoot real cars in a ditch.

This is my old wood stove. It has a front door with glass, and a side door on the right. I could put some long pieces in from the side. It does have an ash pan. The fire bricks are not in it right now. It has a Catalyst. There must have been a grate that went over the opening to the ash pan, I forget it’s been so long. I should have the book for it somewhere.

I heated my last house with it, but a lot of work burning wood 24/7.

Chris, very nice boat. I took a full tour of their Greenville NC plant about five years ago, with boater friends looking for a boat.
at least five years ago, all old school construction, hand laid, not vacuum or high tech.
it's really pretty amazing how expensive these boats are...

34 outside this AM, Be lucky if we get to 50 today. Yesterday with the warm weather we were out in the back restringing hot wire on the pasture. Only made three trips around the perimeter to get the job done. Wire and mesh had lasted close to seven or eight years. Only replaced a few t-posts. Called in quits, perfect timing, when the owls came out. What I thought was going to be an easy job turned into a lot of walking, finger exercise and a five hour effort.

Today, need to go to the grocery store and get my Christmas lights done.

I find this time of year when you get motivated at lunch time, one has only a few hours of workable light outside. And I don't think I want to start an earlier than lunch on jobs. LOL.

Hope all have a great Sunday. Be safe.

pennwalk as Drew said fine boats in the top ten with Boston Whaler, contender, regulator with a price. In 2015 250 outrage BW $125000 now $225000 will you play Santa?

I have been around boats since I was 7 and learned how to run a 32 foot Chris Craft. The last boat I ran was a 252 Baja with 454 mag fast and comfortable after I started last job no time to use only boat I ever sold for more than I paid for it

We have animal by dyson great vacuum cleaner
