45F and cloudy @ 23:00, rain has moved out. Heading down to around 42F for the overnight low.
Wind was blowing and the leaves coming down earlier, probably 75% or better down at this point:
And I was loving it ...
Mainly because at least there is one gutter that is covered that I no longer have to clean ...
OTOH, the washing machine is now leaking ...
There was some extended discussion about that this afternoon and apparently my suggestion that it might be just a little bit before repairs could be accomplished (...
and perhaps a laundromat could be utilized in the meantime ?) was tantamount to a suggestion that someone be deprived of the very air they breathe ... with cruel intentions.
The first issue is that at least one of the isolation valves for supply lines (at the wall) to the washer is seized ... so the water supply can't easily be turned off there.
Second issue is that the next set of isolation valves down the chain also cuts off the water for the kitchen ... so if/when the repair is attempted, the kitchen will be without water ... for however long it takes to at least fix the isolation valves for the washer itself. Plus those valves aren't looking real great either. IIRC, the last time I repaired the washer those were frozen up as well ... but I was able to get them freed up.
Third issue is that I'm racing to get the barn buttoned up before the weather gets really ugly - which thankfully it has not done yet but I sure know it's coming - so I can get a floor poured.
Fourth issue is the diagnosis: not really sure what the issue is at this point. Will need to tear into it and get the cover taken off to see whether it's the seal on the drum or something else like a hose, etc.
The good news is that if it's the drum seal it's fairly cheap and the repair appears to be pretty straightforward.
The Woman went over to neighbor lady's for dinner, and she had another couple over who brought dinner as well. The husband grilled some pork loins and his wife fixed homemade apple sauce. Both were very good.
The Woman made flan and took that over for desert, as well as an apple crisp ... which unfortunately got burnt on top (during the discussion of washer repairs ...

) ... while She was trying to brown it up under the broiler.
Meanwhile I got the order for the 90 ceiling joists and the four rolls (8' x 100') of ceiling vapor barrier placed and proceeded to the Menards in Kent to pick those up.
Took the rebate checks along and used them to pick up two exterior LED lights for the barn:
The one for the front of the barn mounted above the overhead door is 15,000 lumen, 5000K dusk-to-dawn unit. This one will replace the existing HPS which either has a bad bulb or is otherwise kaput.
50,000 hour life and 5 year warranty on both.
The second one is for the south end where the second man door is: a 7,000 lumen, 5000K flood dusk-to-dawn unit. Will mounted up high on the gable.
Think I will wire both on switches.
Got the 90 2 x 4's pulled and loaded in the van, along with the four rolls of plastic for the ceiling vapor barrier.
Fortunately, there was a pile of 2 x 6's right next to the 2 x 4's ... so I didn't have to stand the entire time and could sit while picking out some reasonably good ones.
Woman was worried that I might not be able to see well enough in the Outdoor Lumberyard to pick out good ones.
She's never been there at night - the lighting ain't a problem ...

:
Took the opportunity to fill the van with diesel at the Meijers who has some of the lowest fuel prices around while I was over there.
Now I need to go see if I can find my aluminum pipe wrench ...
Hope everyone had a great Hump Day ...
