Good morning!!!!

good morning all
lovely day, again, 62 out now going up to 85, little warmer than yesterday.
Ten day forecast shows much colder weather coming in later this week.

Since not having eaten it in probably 50 years, I made some spam and eggs this morning.
yes, heart attack on a plate. Think I'll wait another 50 years to try again, plain original spam really doesn't
taste very good to me, but did bring back memories. Fat and salt, no wonder so many folks eat it. I feel like I have a grease slick
in my mouth now... sort of like bacon but at least that tastes infinitely better.

going to the Quaker Meeting down the street for a change this morning. I've only been there for weddings and memorial services.
I know a few folks there, this is closest Meeting to where I grew up 5 miles away.

ex-wife stopped in to pick up some tomatoes I had for her. Had to give her a big hug, going through tough times.
Her husband is 12 years into multiple myeloma where you usually get 10 years, and now her nearby older brother was diagnosed with
brain cancer last week. I have a nearby older brother too so I know how she feels.
If there is any good news, modern medicine involving cancer is much more effective (look at me...) but brain cancer in multiple locations
sure doesn't sound good.

we've had enough rain I could mow the lawn a setting lower yesterday and I think it looks better. Time to put the leaf bagger on, a task for next week.

Phil, have fun this afternoon.

Good Morning chilly 60 going to 82 today. Watching Clarkson's farm on Amazon he had the right idea on his choice for a tractor. A gigantic Lamborghini tractor with controls and handles to operate that rival a NASA rocket. At least my choice for equipment now seems reasonable

52° right now...high in the mid-70's... probably some rain...looks like rain over the next couple days.
Feeling better, but not 100%. Probably get my stepdaughter to give me another Covid test this afternoon or evening.
No chores today...I have plenty of chores to do, but just don't have the energy to do them...

I did mow the lawn at the house yesterday. It wasn't past due but it looks better now. I noticed places in the backyard that were still wet from the dew at 3.
We are eating lettuce from the garden. The green beans and edamame (soy beans) are pretty much done. We are getting a few red raspberries.

Have you guys seen any of the videos from Burning man? It looked like one heck of a party. If I was 20 I'd probably want to head out there and dance around in my underwear too. Only down side is the heat ,dust and the fact that a lot of people came back with covid.

Loving the Fall weather.

Chris

Cat question for you feline owners....
Our cat almost 2 years old. Orange and white female. We got her as a stray and had her spayed. Outside barn cat. (she has a warming element for winter). She doesn't get loads of affection, but will let us pet her daily, scratching her jowls and such. But when it's late in the evening, if you spend time with her and pet her as mentioned, when you're done and starting to walk away, she will often try to bite you on the ankle/leg. And not a light bite, but enough to hurt and I told my wife and kids to only pet her if you have pants on.

What is going on?

I mowed with the Beast yesterday evening. Got the ditches done on the county road, and did the perimeter of one field, and mowed along 1 of our tributaries up near the front gate. Maybe about 3 acres total. I did make a mower deck flap, by cutting about 45 degrees out of an old tire. There are 2 pieces of steel on the stock mounting system that sandwich it. While it's not as pretty as OEM, it actually works decent. It is hinged and you can lay it back to open it wide open without the need for a bungee. It was not fun cutting through a tire. I first tried my sheet metal snips, then my saws all with a fine toothed blade, then finally put a thin blade in the 4.5" grinder. It actually wore out 2 of the thin blades. So, it cost me about $10 to make this ugly flap. LOL.

Son supposed to acolyte this AM, but he's suffering a deep cough, so we might keep him home. I'm teaching Sunday school in between services.

Prayers for our team.

62F and sunny @ 09:00, heading up to a high of around 83F for the day. Rain due in tonight, 88% chance, around 0.25" expected. Calling for rain tomorrow as well: 92% chance, 0.43" expected. Then a dry day followed by rain on Wednesday.

Fortunately temps will remain pretty warm (80's) until Thursday ... which might help to dry things up a little.

Nothing in live trap in the pole barn when I checked it yesterday morning, will see today if we had any better luck last night.

Got some raking done on the screened compost/manure over at the depression in the front lawn I was trying to fill in. More to do on that today and get it seeded before the rain moves in.

Greased FEL on Kubota then started working on digging out that 2nd pile of clay:

Had five observers (just to the right of the pile and further back) who seemed to be fascinated with what I was doing:

They hung around for awhile before finally sauntering off to the adjoining property:

Got better than half of that pile dug out and moved up to the screener:

And got better than half of that screened as well ... (y)

Looked at the man door up at the shop several times yesterday as I passed by. Typically you'd see some Yellowjackets buzzing around the trim to enter the nest. Did not see a one, which is certainly an encouraging sign.

On the agenda for today:

Run down and grab another 4 gallons of diesel then refuel the Cub.

Finish screening the rest of the clay that's up at the screener.

Jigger things around inside barn and make some room to pile up the screened clay.

Unload foam board insulation out of van.

Run over to friends place to pick up some steel he has been saving for me.

Finish raking out that dirt and get it seeded.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)
