We have a large (shedding) guardian livestock dog - Love Her, 150 lbs Anatolian Shepherd
We've also had golden a retriever, talk about loyal
amd our Jack Russell Terrier was one of my favourites ever. (they shed, but I'd get another one)

so many choices, like picking a tractor or a vehicle

:)

69°F and no rain.

My friend Mark is gonna weld my bracket Monday.

So bad design has come back to haunt me. Years ago, I extended the tractor shed to one side. Purpose to house lawnmower and tractor implements storage. I opted for a 2x6 floor over 4x10 beams. Eventually the concrete drive was expanded. Unfortunately the slope of the drive forces rain water that direction making that area wetter than it should be. I had noted the first few 2x6s had become a bit spongy and decided time to replace.

Turns out I am replacing 7 2x6’s. Needs to dry out first and think of a better way. Probably look for way to divert runoff. Of course, Sophie suggested a concrete floor from the beginning, like rest of the shed. I chose the expedient, cheaper method. Can you hear “I told you”. Yup

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

That would be one lucky dog, Drew. Bet you’d talk with it all the time. And the future…

Drew, it’s hard to beat a dog for a loyal companion.
Our choice of breeds doesn’t Check your boxes though. We had 4 Newfoundlands before we got the Landseer ECT, Emily that you likely met. They all shed profusely, are quite large, but incredibly benevolent personality wise. Erica always said that Emily couldn’t control her licker.

We are likely going to make a trip to Wilmington, NC to get another ECT as there are very few breeders in the US, as the AKC doesn’t recognize the breed. The good news is that the breeders that are here in the states take it seriously and produce good dogs, no puppy mills.

Talking about dogs. Our new goldador is full of beans at only 8+ months. Takes them quite a while to settle down but he never ceases to amaze me. He watches everything I do so closely. Changed the blades on the mower the other day and he had to watch every bolt get undone and replaced. He watches planes and helicopters and even eagles that fly over. Not many dogs do that. He loves squeaky toys. If they get dirty he washes them in the water tub then runs around flat out squeaking them. Then washes them again. Forever replacing his drinking water. Loves the hose so I have to lock him up when washing the vehicles. Only problem we have is he watches Lesley planting trees then he will sneak back later and try to do it too but digs them up. We have to plant when he is locked up. He is way more energetic than our other 3. He has no smell and doesnt shed and no drool either. Toys don't get slimy.
Spike is our rescue dog. Lesley picked him and he is really attached to her. Grateful he was saved I guess. He came from a family that pretended he didn't exist and only had a cat for company. Wouldn't part with any of them.

thanks for the ideas on dogs guys.

my mind is simply a fog, three hours of a regional church meeting that should have taken two hours, when geeze one meeting wanted support of a minute/declaration
supporting female reproductive choice. Wasn't much objection to that until one lady wanted an amendment, adding wording to women to include transsexual men.
This is a bunch of mostly elderly folks, and wow what a rabbit hole we went down. Finally one person had to start from scratch and explain what transsexual meant to this group
of aghast folks and why it was an issue. Women or folks who have uteruses. Now we are discussing uteruses. oh my. Guys with uteruses.

Well.....my barber is a transexxual male who looks like a gorgeous woman. And he's not effeminate with me at all.
He has long hair to die for. He clearly identifies as a lady. Now he's not the issue here. He started off as a guy, not a woman.
When you start off as a woman and identify as a guy, you can still get pregnant. And folks have.

So one guy representing Newtown PA Meeting, right nearby, said uh, I don't think all of my Meeting would go along with that.
So that went on the record, in our verbiage he "stood aside". Meaning not to stand in the way, but clearly representing that there is a wide variety
of opinions on this and we can't assume what folks think.

before this gets dismissed as woke or nonsense, I think if we talked to some parents of children who grew up different, we'd be a lot more tolerant.
I've had three wives. I love women. No desire and no history with guys. Growing up in a town that was half gay was very interesting.
So now we have gays and the something elses. And a continuing disagreement and lack of unity on how to present the idea of gay and something elses to children.
And at what age if ever. Being on an elementary school school board, I find this very interesting. And important.
I'm not into promoting alternative life styles. Also not into restricting them
if that's how nature takes its course.

I've said before I spent six years on a Planned Parenthood board, two guys and eight women. Really bright women.
But I went off the board before the issue of abortion came up. Glad I did. I have real objections to unlimited abortions and so do a lot of other people.
Drawing the line gets folks really upset with each other. Not for here.

I can chuckle over Buckeye trying to explain to his 98 year old father about the new sensitivities.

Alien, I wonder if your dog thought there was something neat buried under there.

Drew (me)
not him, not he, just me

not meant to get anyone's BP raised here. Not good for this group...

time to make some strawberry muffins and some blueberry muffins.
Probably will mix them both together, berry muffins.

Maybe I could bribe Popgadget some berry muffins for a sharpening on my five dull drill bits.
But he doesn't eat a lot of sweets so these will have to be extra healthy.
I need to go visit my friend near Harleysville and I drive past Paul's house on the way. Except I usually miss his driveway.
Not any more.
And you all know why.
That big gleaming yellow steel fortress he calls a mailbox.

Gotta love our dogs. With Sophie away, visiting her sister we Facetime several times a day. If Makani is around and hears her voice he is right there, looking at the screen, cocking his head from side to side, putting his nose to the screen, knowing his Mommy is in there. Fun to watch.

yorkie

Sprightly, tomboyish, and affectionate, the Yorkshire Terrier, often called the Yorkie, is a Toy breed full of personality. These spunky lap dogs are the seventh most popular dog breed in America, and for good reason. Yorkshire Terriers do not shed, and their silky coats are beautiful when brushed out daily, which is made easy by their small size. Don’t be fooled by their regal carriage – Yorkies have working-class roots. These fearless terriers hunted rats in English clothing mills, although today they are just as happy to sit on their owner’s lap as they are running down a rodent.

Didn't Ron have one of these?

need a dog big enough to jump in a car. I don't want to pick up a 50 pound dog.
they may leap when they are young, but what about as a senior dog?

Amend to that, Drew.

So I guess this story starts back 8-10 years. My old girl, Ruby getting up there in years and she couldn’t jump in the truck anymore. Of course she still loved to go (she actually passed in back of the truck) so no problem, I’d just lift her in and the others jump in either before or after. Not that long after her passing, Kalani decides too big a jump for her in the Tundra so decided she’d just sit there, knowing I’d give in and I would. So then we get Kekoa and of course as a puppy it was just too high, besides Kalani always got lifted in. Basically he never learned to jump in. Maybe by accident twice. So after Kalani passed (also in the truck bed) we get Makani and of course way too small even with the Ridgeline so he gets a lift just like his big brother. So now I have 2 70lb boys who fully expect to be lifted in even though I tell them almost every time I’m getting too old for this. They don’t seem to care. Maybe a ramp ?
